Will this thread make it to the wedding? Will it outlive Tony?

valley of the shadow of death

yes, i think it is commonly used at funerals so it is a little odd, but i don't know that it is specifically a funeral hymn/psalm

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/04/2014 09:15

Unless it is all a spectacular double-bluff, of course.

At the moment, they couldn't be signalling a deading any stronger, short of having Patrick playing the Doom Music on his organ.

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/04/2014 09:16

*any more strongly

GypsyFloss · 22/04/2014 09:45

Patrick playing the Doom Music on his organ did make me smile.

mummytime · 22/04/2014 09:47

No- please don't reunite Brenda and Tom - weill at least until they are 70 odd! She has too much potential, and someone has to escape.

My DH has played Organ in villages and doesn't find Widor at all taxing - maybe Patrick had a few lessons at Felpersham as a child? He could even be an ex-organ scholar, most of those I know are "in the City" now, well except those who are professional musicians.

WillieWaggledagger · 22/04/2014 09:52

mummytime your dh does not fit in with my stereotype of village church organists at all

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/04/2014 09:52

Poor Patrick. I feel certain he has been yearning for Krusty for many a year now.

Maybe she will just be very badly injured and he will sit devotedly by her hospital bed.

One day, he will be sitting next to her unconscious form and doing bird imitations, her eyelids flutter, she regains consciousness and realise they have lurved each other all this time...

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/04/2014 09:53

Hannah the PigGirl is the one Tom should really be with.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 22/04/2014 10:00

Can't help feeling it won't be an accident leading to a change of heart. Because that would just be Caroline and Robin all over again.

Perhaps Kirsty really has become extraneous to requirements?

And who else might be considered dead wood?

GypsyFloss · 22/04/2014 10:12

Willie my dad is a suburban church organist . He hates when brides request The arrival of the Queen of Sheba . Not for it's playing, more because the church is tiny and no amount of telling will convince them that they'll be at the communion rail by bar 4.

I like the idea of Patrick plaintively whistling at an unconscious Kirsty.

BitOutOfPractice · 22/04/2014 10:12

If they need a volunteer to dead Tony, I'm free on Thursday. Just sayin'

GypsyFloss · 22/04/2014 10:14

I hope Kirsty is not surplus. I had high hopes of her n Tom taking over the Archers mantel, hopes that are rapidly decreasing it must be said.

WillieWaggledagger · 22/04/2014 10:17

i love that gypsy Grin

stilllearnin · 22/04/2014 10:43

All I know is that if Patrick starts playing the funeral march they're in trouble! I don't remember getting quite this level of detail around Kenton and jolene though. Even with the complication of meryl etc

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/04/2014 10:57

Perhaps Patrick, in a jealous rage, will leap up from his organ and throttle the Chipolata Kid at the altar rail.

Just after TVOA intones about anyone knowing of any lawful impediment.

Patrick will then barricade himself behind his organ, shouting "You'll never take me alive" all the while pounding out frenzied Doom Music!

polyhymnia · 22/04/2014 11:27

Must say the choice of 'We have all the time ...' is very odd and ominous. Can K and T be among the few people who've never seen that film ...?

ErrolTheDragonsEgg · 22/04/2014 12:29

Wilie - the thing about church organists is that now fewer churches have proper organs, a good one will attract a keen organist. My DB is one such, which came in handy for my own wedding (and yes, we had Sheba and Widor, long enough aisle Grin )

mummytime · 22/04/2014 12:33

Good Organists do get shared around for important occasions. We had the Purcell and the Widor for my Wedding.

BTW I haven't seen that film either - and can't see I will - no one here is interested.

Even from the website and FB if the wedding goes smoothly everyone will be disappointed.

LillianGish · 22/04/2014 12:56

Just caught up. I agree with R4 that the preview of the wedding leaves SWs free to concentrate on other things on Thursday. I don't think it will be an EastEnders style wedding drama - I'm certainly hoping that the consequences will play out over a much longer period. I predict the plot will swing away from Tom and Kirsty - to let things brew for a while longer - and back to Hazel Wooley's take-over of the village and the ramifications of the BL changes. I think what last night's episode showed was that Tom has more of his father in him than he likes to think and also that while the family has been dented by various fallings out this wedding is making them all realise what is important.
I do think The Lord is My Shepherd is a funeral hymn, but I remember when dh and I got married the vicar telling us how often couples choose that and also Amazing Grace, another funeral staple. In fact I'd say their hymn selection is fairly typical of many couple who don't know many hymns!

LillianGish · 22/04/2014 12:58

Meant to add that I hope We've got all the time in the world is a message from the SWs - because that truly is the case where The Archers is concerned!

FunLovinBunster · 22/04/2014 13:16

Rob the Remote Controller. Cheesy Hellqueen. A shovel.

FunLovinBunster · 22/04/2014 13:17

Ta dah! New patio....

LillianGish · 22/04/2014 13:48

Tony won't die - he's just been replaced. Most effective death in terms of advancing the plot would be Peggy.

GypsyFloss · 22/04/2014 14:09

But old Tony wasn't well enough to play the scenes we've heard over the past few months so there is a possibility that new Tony was brought in a short term contract to finish him off so to speak.

JollyGolightly · 22/04/2014 14:39

gypsy I thought that too. A brief turn by a heavyweight actor to see Tone on his way to his organic Elysium
