Will this thread make it to the wedding? Will it outlive Tony?

OP posts:
Bluestocking · 21/04/2014 21:45

Who on earth is Patrick? If he's the inheritor of Dead Phil's Organ, surely he is not young and lissom enough for Krusty.
The last two episodes have had harbingers of NUPTIAL DOOOOOM running right through them like the mould in The Cheesey One's Borsetshire Blue. I think Tony's number is up and the wedding will have to be postponed, providing another opportunity for The Big Bapper to reappear and disturb the fragile equilibrium of the Tom-and-Kirstysphere.

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 21/04/2014 21:57

Kirsty's birdwatching pal was Patrick but I never knew he had musical fingers - is this really the same one? He never even speaks so I don't see why they couldn't just use another Silent (like Velda)(sp?)(whatever happened to Velda anyway?)

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 21/04/2014 21:59

See, I knew nothing of That Song's connotations - I thought it was a really nice choice. So it might not necessarily have deathly overtones...

GypsyFloss · 21/04/2014 22:00

Is Patrick he of the bird watching and music for Lyndipops panto? An amicable ex of Kirsty?

There's death coming. I can feel it in my waters . Mind you I've been predicting a death...any death...since He who must not be named was let loose in the shed with a paraffin heater.

Bluestocking · 21/04/2014 22:03

I agree, GypsyFloss, there's definitely a death in the offing. Perhaps the Chipolata Kid will get into such a panic about the extra large order that he'll fall into the sausage machine à la Steve Buscemi in the wood chipper.

ErrolTheDragonsEgg · 21/04/2014 22:03

Kirsty's birdwatching pal was Patrick but I never knew he had musical fingers - is this really the same one? He never even speaks

yes he does - but infrequently. He's got a photo on the cast list even.

GypsyFloss · 21/04/2014 22:03

Valda murdered the hymns on a weekly basis, I suspect the Toccata might have been slightly out of her range Grin

GypsyFloss · 21/04/2014 22:05

I think the prediction upthread of Tony croaking it , thus delaying the proceedings sounds like the most likely.

WillieWaggledagger · 21/04/2014 22:07

oh yes having looked up his photo he is much more suitable than tom. the blurb suggests they have only ever been "just good friends". i wasn't listening when he was introduced so i don't know the background there

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 21/04/2014 22:08

Patrick has spoken, but only once in a blue moon, & not recently iirc, so when did he start playing the sodding organ & why weren't we told?

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 21/04/2014 22:11

Oooh, I just looked him up too

Very nice

Well if K ends up not married maybe she can swoon into his arms instead

Trebles all round!

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 21/04/2014 22:23

Agreed wrt "All the time in the world" - I immediately thought "That's the JB girl who dies..." Also, they are having "Dear Lord and Father" which I have always thought is silky for weddings (though often chosen as it is well known). The second line is "Forgive our foolish ways".

ErrolTheDragonsEgg · 21/04/2014 22:24

when did he start playing the sodding organ

Don't know - he's described as a 'talented pianist' - but that doesn't necessarily equate to someone who can bash out Widor's Toccata, that needs feet as well as hands!

ErrolTheDragonsEgg · 21/04/2014 22:32

The second line is "Forgive our foolish ways".
And the third is 'reclothe us in our rightful minds' ...still, at least they didn't choose 'Fight the Good Fight' Grin

WillieWaggledagger · 21/04/2014 22:34

organists in village churches aren't supposed to be good (as per the toccata yesterday)

They are supposed to massacre the "modern" hymns and play everything else at a dirge-like tempo

apart from you Grannie of course you're excellent

WillieWaggledagger · 21/04/2014 22:36

I always want someone to choose "will your anchor hold" at a church wedding but they never have so far

R4 · 21/04/2014 22:36

If the wedding does go through, the use of today was quite clever. We get the ceremony and the Bridge Farm reaction to it (where is Krusty's family?) but still have Thursday's episode free to do the Reception. Two for the price of one!

When I heard All the time in the world it made me think of John.Sad

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 21/04/2014 22:45

I suspect that was what dissolved Pat, too, R4 Sad

(Had the same effect on me in fact Blush)

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 21/04/2014 22:50

Yes! Was there some special significance for Pat and Tony in that song? I wondered if there was something I was missing - because they've been so unexcited so far, then suddenly blubbing at the rehearsal.

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 21/04/2014 23:14

Not that I can remember, Zero - just thinking that John too seemed to have so much time

but then didn't Sad

GypsyFloss · 22/04/2014 08:43

I wonder if they are leading us up the path , letting us assume it will a jilting of Kirsty or a deading of Tony.

What if it's actually a deading of Pat? Tom was about to say important stuff to her but didn't . Helen would want to support Tony but Titchynob would veto that. Tony would realise that all the carrot planting in the world doesn't make up for her not being there. Plus there'd plenty of scope of people saying that at least they had them both at the rehearsal etc etc.

stilllearnin · 22/04/2014 09:03

I am really sorry if this offends anyone but I have always genuinely thought the lord's my shepherd is a funeral song. 'he makes me down to lie' and is there a verse about the valley of death? If it is a death I'd prefer it not to be as obvious as Tony. It will probably all go fine and the fireworks will go off at the reception. I think Rob might come into play. Maybe reveal his worst side

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/04/2014 09:07

I predict a deading of Kirsty. It will be to do with Cranford Crystal being spooked by a dog/inconsiderate driver/rabid badger.

Chipolata Kid will be inconsolable and grief-stricken because he'd got cold feet anyway, and will feel guilty.

In the fullness of time he and the Big Bapper will be reunited.

GypsyFloss · 22/04/2014 09:08

I'm with you on the hymn.

Wickeddevil · 22/04/2014 09:11

Finally de-lurking. It's going to be quite a week whatever happens.

Definitely a death or maybe more. There are some heavy hints about the Wedding venue. Maybe 4 funerals and a wedding?
