Just don't be so careless with your watch Helen

I am positive that he heard her say tuna on the phone- why? Because he walked in and commented on the smell, but cooking tuna doesn't have a distinctive smell. (neither the warming up of tinned -admittedly bleurgh-nor the searing of fresh). He planned it all along. There was a definite pause on the phone- that was him thinking "how can I use this to abuse her?"

WipsGlitter · 19/02/2014 12:55

He head her say tuna but then used it to make her feel small and weak. It's a very well done storyline!!

I might've missed something, but why is Kenton being such a dick about Jolene's costumes?

WillieWaggledagger · 19/02/2014 14:50

plot device to get them into the cellar so they could be ruined by floodwater they were taking up too much room in the wardrobe

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 19/02/2014 14:50

It could be because he's worried about his mother. Or because Jolene's disreputable past unsettles him. Or it may be that the honeymoon period is well and truly over and - having discovered that he and Jolene have nothing in common, their marriage is about to go rapidly downhill. I hope it's the first.

ExcuseTypos · 19/02/2014 14:52

Kenton thinks Jolene is too old to wear them in public. He got rather angsty when she said she might wear them on stage.

ExcuseTypos · 19/02/2014 14:53

Oh yes, he was also moaning about the lack of wardrobe space.

OddFodd · 19/02/2014 16:14

Is it trying to (hamfistedly) to show the difference between 'normal' and EA relationships (although K is being a bit of a dick about it)?

Someone turned up unexpectedly today so I missed the lunchtime repeat. I wanted to listen to HellinRob's phone conversation again. Although I listen in the evenings, it's 'wind down' to bedtime here which in our house, is anything but!

PseudoBadger · 19/02/2014 16:16

I did laugh the other day when Jolene asked Kenton did he not think she could pull the outfits off? And he said it was pulling them on he was worried about :o

I assumed it was something to do with Lizzie's music festival.

ComposHat · 19/02/2014 17:55

Yes. Expect Eddie and Jolene to do a fuet of islands in the stream or a gram parsons/emmylou Harris number

bigbadbarry · 19/02/2014 18:20

Marking place in new thread. Lovely title :)

GypsyFloss · 19/02/2014 18:30

I was at DV training this morning and by god Rob ticks so many of the boxes. If this doesn't turn nasty I'll eat my hat.

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 19/02/2014 18:58

\link{http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thearchers/posts/Reflecting-the-floods\here's Keri blogging about the topical inserts}

The flooded cellar at the Bull is a coincidence Hmm

CuttedUpPear · 19/02/2014 19:07

It's not like Jolene to be so negative and grumpy. She's normally very laid back!

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 19/02/2014 19:11

Yes, but it's all her youth in those cases...

SomethingOnce · 19/02/2014 19:14

I think Kenton caused the flood to ruin the costumes!

Bastard!

ComposHat · 19/02/2014 19:14

Normally yes. But I lost patience when Sid the homophobe died. Someone woild say something nondescript like 'I'm to have a shite' and she'd pipe up with 'oh Sid used to love having a shite' in a wistful voice.
That was probably more to do with me hating Sid.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 19/02/2014 19:15

Oh no!Sad

WhatSheSaid · 19/02/2014 19:15

I was just thinking, virtually the entire episode is topical insert - flooding at the Bull and the Tony/David/Ruth/Pat rescue mission. They must have got rid of lots of stuff that was meant to be in this episode. Haven't read Keri's blog yet though.

harrietspy · 19/02/2014 19:20

Grin at the continuity announcer. The shower scene can still make me shudder.

Which makes me think about the most memorable moments in TA. It's probably been done before... But I'm thinking shower scene, NIIIIIGGGEEEELLLLL, the night when Ruaridh (?) was born and Jenny found out ... What am I missing?

TheRaniOfYawn · 19/02/2014 19:36

When John died. I was writing an essay and didn't find out until after the omnibus.

cheminotte · 19/02/2014 19:38

marking my place on new thread - still behind so can't read yet.

GypsyFloss · 19/02/2014 19:40

Definitely when John died and poor old Nigel.

I didn't finish listening tonight, it was beyond dull and my dislike for Ruth is overwhelming Grin

Was Helen moonlighting as the wedding dress shop owner?

Crikeyblimey · 19/02/2014 19:42

Marvellous - new sparkly thread :)
