TA is in a purple patch at the moment, rewarding listeners for wading through the dross of the previous year few months. Welcome all!

I've been haunted by that story since I first read it in my teens, some 40 plus years ago. I followed the link the first time you posted it, and the first paragraph was plenty...

I just voted and am shocked by the results. How can more people think Pat n Tone should be more accepting of Hellrob? Really ?

That story is horrible and disturbing Pseudo. Not bedtime reading!

Toomuchtea - the party was dreadful. There were hissed arguments between Jess and Rob all evening and everyone was very uncomfortable. Rob was being a sulky git and refusing to lift a finger or make anyone welcome while Jess was trying to be the hostess with the mostest. And no one ate the dressed salmon she'd slaved over (on jenny darling's advice) and when she was carrying it into the kitchen she dropped it and Rob told her he didn't care and he was going to bed. If it had been real life, he would have said 'your fucking salmon'. It was really very horrible

No, it was great! But horrible..

It reminds me of an early Star Trek episode where they met God and he was an insane child.

I don't think there's any need Pseudo. Sure it can't compete for horridness with anything on TV right now.

Oh! Was one based on the other? (Star Trek and A Good Life...)

Report
PseudoBadger · 04/02/2014 23:23

Not sure about Star Trek but there is a Twilight Zone and also a Simpsons episode based on the story

De-lurking here to chip in about Pat, Tony and Hellrob. I think that Pat & Tony should be ever so welcoming of the lovely couple, under the maxim of 'keep your friends close and your enemies closer'. They would have a much better chance of keeping an eye on that shifty bugger Rob if he was lurking around the house all the time. And they would notice when the eventual signs of EA emerge...

just listened via iplayer while changing the sheets. oh gawd what has ed got planned...

could the dog go back and forth with george, or perhaps a puppy needs more stability?

the best thing perhaps would be to encourage nic to put her foot down about a puppy being too much

but then frankly i don't much care where the bloody dog lives because both ed and will are nobs

absolutely laundryfairy, and easier for helen to escape back to htem if necessary if she doesn't also have to swallow her pride and admit they were right all along

but bust-ups now are much more interesting to listen to Wink

Those of us who thought Fondant Fancies were out of character for Peggy were clearly mistaken, now we know about 'Kitten with a Ball of Wool'. She's like a benign Dolores Umbridge!

Shamelessly stealing an idea from the comments under Nancy's brilliant column (thanks, One!), how soon before Tom tells Pat and Tony they will be moving into a one-bedroom bungalow across the yard (with the living room doubling up as extra pig storage for busy times) while he and Kirsty take over the farmhouse?

Toomuchtea, it was OddFodd, not me, who provided that summary! It was a good episode, but like everyone else I'm disappointed that we've heard no further scenes between Rob and Jess.

We don't even need to hear from Jess - if indeed her contract has ended - but they must at least indicate that Rob is actually planning to go through the divorce process. It's just needlessly confusing otherwise.

Thinking about it, I wish Ed and Emma could get married. Would be far more exciting than Tom and Kirsty. They could do with something to look forward to (and it would put Will's nose out of joint.)

we could just 'overhear' rob on the phone to her, without hearing the other side of the conversation!
