New thread for the beginning of the pheasant season.

Not impossible of course, repeat themes do happen in TA Grin, but wouldn't this be a rerun of the Carter-Aldridge fiasco, though less cleverly scripted, and with more irritating voices, acting and characters. Oh well.

BitOutOfPractice · 27/11/2013 18:13

I'm struggling to think of a character who doens't get right on my last one to be honest

JessieMcJessie · 28/11/2013 01:58

Ilona is Albanian, not Polish. Rosa never went out with Jamie but she did have the hots for him and Jamie'girlfriend dumped him because she thought that he was two timing her with Rosa.

SthingMustBeScaringThemAway · 28/11/2013 08:36

Hah! Good thing Mnet is anonymous - a mistake regarding nationality would not go down well in my RL. Apologies to all.

But as regards Rosa - if Dan's mentioning her to Shula on the drive from the airport does not lead anywhere - I will buy a hat and eat it.

LondonMother · 28/11/2013 09:06

Sthing, TA SWs have form there though. There was a blue vase Siobhan bought on air when she was out with Brian, umpteen years ago - or did he buy it for her? Can't remember, I just recall that it was mentioned several times on air and many of us on the old BBC TA MB were convinced it was going to lead to some significant plot development, but of course it didn't.

I've got serious intestinal problems now from the number of hats I've had to eat over the years, thanks to TA.

ppeatfruit · 28/11/2013 09:36

Yes a good thought Sthing i thought that Ilona leaving the Elms? or laurels ? would lead to Jack going off in confusion 'to search for her' and being found dead under a hedge somewhere. But no it seems that Jack is still being kept on ice weirdly. Confused

SthingMustBeScaringThemAway · 28/11/2013 09:39

Yeah - it was the same with that wretched painting that Lil and Paul bought. (But then, the whole Eastenders on the Am business was a hat-eating fest....)

PseudoBadger · 28/11/2013 10:52

The SWs have just forgotten that there is a character called Jack living at The Laurels.

I reckon Jack was just given Alzheimers just so that we could meet Ilona and thus Darrell. Hell, maybe the SWs have planned this fantastic Darrell storyline so far in advance that Peggy only married Jack for this very reason.... :o

I personally think the entire 62-year history of TA has been planned just to lead up to this moment. Grin

I did enjoy Oliver's olive branch last night to Joe and Eddie. Nicely done.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/11/2013 11:14

Sloe gin - a touch of genius by Oliver there.

Gigondas · 28/11/2013 11:23

It was.

All that build up with Jill so they could do an educational on cataracts Confused.

Am starting to find Darrell and storyline more and more irksome.

ppeatfruit · 28/11/2013 12:11

Gigondas Ikwym about the Darrell storyline but it has grabbed me (against my will almost!) It is a realistic story being quite well acted too.

Grin Pseudo and London If the SWs were so clever we wouldn't have a character who has died in RL and is still waiting to die in TA. How long is it now? What TF are they waiting for?

ErrolTheDragon · 28/11/2013 12:16

Of course it was cataracts - given that we'd diagnosed her over the radio it shouldn't have been that much of a surprise to her!

OddFodd · 28/11/2013 12:27

:o Errol

How on earth did Shula know so much about what a cataract operation entails? It was like she'd been given a leaflet. I thought she was incredibly unsympathetic to Jill.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/11/2013 12:31

Maybe one of Mark's parents had had them? They're pretty routine, I thought Shula's response was about right actually.

NorthernLurker · 28/11/2013 12:40

Dan's Doris was Tom Forrest's sister (Hence Uncle Tom). Way, way back Tom the gamekeeper tusseled with a poacher in the woods and shot him dead. He turned out to be Jethro Larkin's no good brother I think - so Clarrie's uncle.

SthingMustBeScaringThemAway · 28/11/2013 12:52

Yes.... I knew Doris was Tom's sister but I guess what I meant was: would she have been considered the obvious person to found a rich and powerful village clan?

I'm not putting it well but all (most of?) the young Archers / Pargetters etc will have to be found partners - and they won't all be from the Cathedral School or Young Farmers. It will be interesting to see exactly how they pair up the next generation.....

OddFodd · 28/11/2013 12:54

I think it would be quite frightening to have to have an op on your eyes (or perhaps it's me that's a bit weird about things like that!)

SthingMustBeScaringThemAway · 28/11/2013 12:59

Not weird at all. My Dm had cataracts surgery a couple of years ago and while I'm usually the person who accompanies her to medical appointments I had to swerve that one.

But she described it all later and hadn't found it in the least bit traumatic. Only the eye drops regime afterwards was troublesome.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 28/11/2013 13:01

Loving this thread - not here officially of course
Quick question - wasn't kirsty going out with Patrick??
Was that not V awkward on the double date?!?!?

ErrolTheDragon · 28/11/2013 13:03

Me too - don't like the thought at all, but dad/FIL had theirs done and it didn't seem to bother them at all, just delighted to be able to see better again.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/11/2013 13:04

wasn't kirsty going out with Patrick??

I think they did wildlify stuff but didn't actually 'go out' - though it seemed like they would be a good pair.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 28/11/2013 13:28

So who was the boyfriend she dumped for the sausage king??

JessieMcJessie · 28/11/2013 13:42

Damian.
