New thread for the beginning of the pheasant season.

We are good thanks, she is just getting a cold I think :(

Ok for the cook book I would like a Friends style recipe mix up - a recipe comprising half a shepherds pie and half a trifle....

Just caught up. I couldn't be sicker of Darrell if he was a salmonella bug.

Songbird · 29/10/2013 08:45

Does anyone have the podcast for last week's omnibus, please? 20/10/13?

curlew · 29/10/2013 08:55

I love the fact that they indicate that Darrell has reached rock bottom because he was contemplating stealing the poppy money!

Just like on Downton they indicate that somebody is a thoroughly bad lot by making them a smoker. When in reality, they would all have smoked like chimneys........

Sthingmustbescaringthemaway · 29/10/2013 09:20

Halloween ShockAre you saying that in reality they would all have been at the poppy money?Halloween Grin

Rather mixed... Just as I was applauding the horribly accurate description of Darrell's insuperable anxiety and depression - they ruined it by suggesting that these things inevitably lead to the poppy tin. (Although they've certainly laid the groundwork for D being a thoroughly bad egg. It would have been far better to have the MH problems without the criminality.)

Then they have Eddie showing empathy - good. Then the same person who has shown empathy hands D a tiny amount of money. An amount so small it is impossible to do anything with other than buy oneself a drink.

And Jill - defending the absent Daniel's space. As if he'll need it.

LondonM I wish you were enjoying Darrell as much as I am.

Pleased to hear you're ok Pseudo. But there is no [emoticon] to offer your coldy Dd.... (Shame on MnetHalloween Grin)

TallGiraffe · 29/10/2013 09:40

Sorry songbird can't help I'm afraid. We could do you a rcap between us though I'm sure...

TallGiraffe · 29/10/2013 09:40

Or a recap even!

Songbird · 29/10/2013 09:56

Yes please! Have I missed something important with Hellin and Rob? Has Henry shopped them? Is she preggo yet? And how’s Joe? Is Eddie still going against character to drive this story to some dramatic conclusion? Any more Nic vs. Emmur snipey hilarity? Is Darrel still being interminably whingey and pathetic?

Thanks in advance Thanks

ppeatfruit · 29/10/2013 09:57

Don't they do rcaps of the Omni on play it again? Maybe it's just the latest one? I'm sooo excited I've just seen a red squirrel in our garden for the first time YAAAY!!!!

Songbird · 29/10/2013 10:19

pp they only keep one at a time, so I've missed the one from the 20th. The Colchester Plumber website has been a lifesaver as I missed months worth and he downloads them all, but last week's is missing. I don't know how quickly he usually puts them on the site.

Songbird · 29/10/2013 10:19

And red squirrel! Where do you live?

ppeatfruit · 29/10/2013 12:19

We live between mid France and London .In France ATM of course!

PseudoBadger · 29/10/2013 12:21

How nice ppeat! Do you have pine martens too?

OP posts:
Songbird · 29/10/2013 12:27

Ooh lovely. My Mum and Dad live in the Dordogne - c'est magnifique!

I've listened to the latest omnibus and Sunday and Monday's episodes, and the only thing I seem to have missed is Rob dumping Hellin. What happened?

ppeatfruit · 29/10/2013 12:41

Well we do have some holes in the ground of our very wooded garden and caves but I've never seen pine martens, though there's something that dances on our roof sometimes! Psued

Our area is not as popular with the Brits as the Dordogne Song In fact our funny fr. neighbour told us in her sweet english that "You are ze first engleesh to live 'ere since Richard ze Lionheart"!! We live right by a castle that was extended by RTL!! (there's only one tower and a chapel left the rest of the stones were used to build our houses!).

Songbird · 29/10/2013 15:15

Originally I did write ‘(oh the cliché!)’ after saying where they lived, but deleted it in case you lived there too Grin

Right, between finally reading this whole thread and listening to all the available episodes on iPlayer I think I’m fairly up to date. What was Hellin’s reaction to Rob’s dumping her? And what’s all this about a runaway dog?

MrsCampbellBlack · 29/10/2013 15:22

God, I know Darrell is annoying but how self obsessed is Mike? And ed back to acting like a petulant child - honestly, having to be reminded to say thank you to Alistair.

I reckon things are going to get very bad at pig towers - what with bitchy emma being stressed over cherry zabaglione, ed kicking off and susan, well beingn susan.

ppeatfruit · 29/10/2013 15:33

Grin That's funny about the Dordogne it iS beautiful though .

Well I can't remember it word for word but it was well acted and written for a change: Hellin was extremely pee'd off as you can imagine he said that he wants to make a go of his marriage. When Kirsty pointed out in no uncertain fashion that he is a married man she sort of seemed to think he was going to leave his wife for her. As she said to Tom (i almost feel sorry for her) he wants to be a father which she thought meant him staying with her (i think).

Songbird · 29/10/2013 17:02

Thank you! I loved the scene between Helen and Tom. When she said 'don't hug me or I'll start crying' and he said 'I think we'll risk it' Sad

MrsCampbellBlack · 29/10/2013 19:13

I just don't buy Kenton and Jolene as a serious couple. And is something bad going to happy to merry?? Jill's at the wheel . . .

Am loving all the anti-dog stuff at the moment - very public education

Gigondas · 29/10/2013 19:21

I think Jill thing will lead to a cake incident .

As for how they resolve the Darrell thing, I hope it ends soon,

Bluestocking · 29/10/2013 19:27

Jill is definitely going to have a prang. The foreshadowing is as unsubtle as Casualty - arm, chainsaw, arm, chainsaw, arm, AARGH!!, arterial blood spurt. The only question is whether it will be a Comedy Prang, with the wedding cake being reduced to crumbs, or a Tragedy Prang, with The Two-Headed Kiwi Melliel being reduced to a pulp. On the subject of Kiwis, does anyone else think they sound more Australian than NZ?

Panzee · 29/10/2013 19:29

I see the Kate actress has landed a part in Eastenders.

WhatSheSaid · 29/10/2013 20:28

They do sound a bit more Aussie than Kiwi (speaks knowledgeably as I live in NZ)

SthingMustBeScaringThemAway · 29/10/2013 20:32

Panzee As soon as I read that I realized that for years and years I have imagined Kate as looking like a more soignee and rosy-cheeked Janine....
