New thread for the beginning of the pheasant season.

But she'd have to fight her sister-in-law for him! He and Christine are practically an item.

ppeatfruit · 26/10/2013 17:03

That's true but surely he'd have made a move by now if he thought about Chris in 'that' sort of way which maybe he does about Jill! It'd be a fun storyline, isn't Chris her cousin?

ppeatfruit · 26/10/2013 17:04

No of course you're right Chris is Phil's sister I think.

Sthingmustbescaringthemaway · 26/10/2013 17:23

Halloween GrinI'd hate to see Christine hurt - she gets little enough story as it is. And she must be so lonely. At least Jill has all her children and most of her grandchildren close by. Peter(?) seems to have abandoned his mother altogether. Apart from one trip to Berlin iirc.....

ppeatfruit · 26/10/2013 17:28

True but the actress makes a tree seem animated !!

LondonMother · 26/10/2013 18:05

Auntie Cardboard as she was rather cruelly labelled on the old BBC MB...

ppeatfruit · 27/10/2013 08:06

Grin Grin Cruel but true. London

Swannykazoo · 27/10/2013 17:32

Perhaps I'm outing my own country bumpkin origins but church/scout/brownie/school charity recipe books were never like this. Testing the recipes? GBBO style practising? All they ever featured were
1: Fifteens (a NI special everyone learns to make in primary school*)
*recipe can be provided on request to all you mainlanders...
2: Chocolate crispie buns
3: Any sort of casserole/bake featuring the key ingredient of can of mushroom soup and then crushed crisps on top

I'm having to tune out at any mention of this storyline as its so flipping annoying. On the other hand, I'm hoping the lead-in for Jill's poor eyesight will lead to something much more exciting happening on bloody Stir-up-Sunday - maybe poisoning Wink

BasketzatDawn · 27/10/2013 20:06

I'm so grateful to TA though - without them I'd never have heard of Stir Up Sunday. Being Scottish (that's the reason I give anyway) we don't have lots of those 'quaint traditions' you lot in England seem to 'enjoy'. Grin

But I did catch myself thinking, while the photos of young Daniel were being gawped at tonight - I hope nothing happens to Daniel on his gap year. It's not that I particularly warm to Daniel, but I so hate the sound of his mother's voice I think I'd need to become an ex listener for the duration of her grief. Which being TA would be only a week or two anyway, so I could cope with that, I suppose

BasketzatDawn · 27/10/2013 20:07

I think though it was all a mechanism to tell us that Jill is getting old and has sight problems. Oh dear, I wonder how that will be handled.

LondonMother · 27/10/2013 20:08

My hunch is that Jill is going to have a minor bump on the way to Lower Loxley with the wedding cake and it will be reduced to crumbs. Actually, scratch hunch - if this doesn't happen I will eat my hat.

ppeatfruit · 27/10/2013 20:13

Great minds London I thought exactly the same "oops there goes the wedding cake" Cake.

I liked the tender scene between Tom and Hellin. I even shed a little tear!

ppeatfruit · 27/10/2013 20:16

OMG weird weird weird I wrote the above and I did NOT put the emoticom for cake in it is there anybody there???

Swannykazoo · 27/10/2013 20:21

Oh no! Londonmother & peatfruit you're probably right about the cake. I'm groaning as we had that all with Clarrie's cake for Will&Nic's wedding and the replacement from Ian. There'll be some last minute NZ baking from Mel & Merrier or something. A passioncake come to think of it.

ppeatfruit · 27/10/2013 20:25

Yeah or a pavvie puggle seeing as they're from down under Grin the SWs are in need of original storylines from us IMHO.

BasketzatDawn · 27/10/2013 21:06

I'd forgotten the cake thing. They can't have another Great Ambridge Cake Crisis. Not so soon. Anyone would think the SWs have no or few original ideas.

Eastpoint · 28/10/2013 07:17

If I knew Jill in real life I'd think she had cataracts. I think that would explain her having difficulty seeing in poor light. Of course in real life it is now a minor op, it would be a good bit of public service radio if they treated it as such.

curlew · 28/10/2013 07:23

I thought cataracts too. Did you notice she couldn't see the pictures of the Sainted Daniel properly?

Do you think she's done something bizarre to the wedding cake because she can't see properly? Salt instead of sugar or something?

PseudoBadger · 28/10/2013 07:44

Meriel arrives with a Pavlova perhaps?

OP posts:
PseudoBadger · 28/10/2013 07:46

Sorry Ppeat I missed that you'd said that already!

OP posts:
ppeatfruit · 28/10/2013 09:54

That's oiright psued Yer jest missed my amazin' aussie accented post that's all Grin Grin sorry everyone Grin

R4 · 28/10/2013 11:38

Salt instead of sugar or something?

I've been wondering something similar about Emmur's cookbook. Sabrina has a host of people who are going to receive a gift-copy of the book so it's got to be her recipe that gets the typo.

Eastpoint · 28/10/2013 12:10

I'm sure Jill would have her dried goods in jars to keep them dry & in good condition. I bet she keeps the salt by her stove in one of those salt pigs so she can add it to saucepans.

ppeatfruit · 28/10/2013 12:18

How are you and the L.O. BTW psued?

Songbird · 28/10/2013 14:54
