Its all or nothing with TA afflictions, usually - illnesses and accidents which aren't immediately fatal rarely have little long-term effect. Mike doesn't seem to have any problems following the loss of an eye, Brian's epileptic episodes are few and far between....

Must be all the healthy fresh air that allows them to bounce back if they don't get killed instantly - so no scope for Public Service broadcasting in relation to DLA etc.

curlew · 25/10/2013 16:24

Yes, not even in the Archers do you recover from falling five floors, being run over by a tractor or having bits of you cut off with a chain saw..........

heronsfly · 25/10/2013 16:55

I didn't know Mike only had one eyeBlush

Swannykazoo · 25/10/2013 17:57

Smile curlew Smile
I like the fact that dairy farming cures drug addiction and cheese making cures anorexia while we're on that topic. Will cider-making cure Darryl's homelessness and peculiar behaviour?

TheSilveryPussycat · 25/10/2013 20:09

But Wolfgang didn't have TB? He was old and had pneumonia. He wasn't near Lonely Cow, was he?

BasketzatDawn · 25/10/2013 22:30

And you've forgotten Daniel's juvenile arthritis, magically cured when his ma shagged the doctor.

curlew · 25/10/2013 22:33

And Lizzie's dodgy heart....forgot that too.

And not forgetting the matter of Ruraidh(I think)'s miraculous Irish accent......

BasketzatDawn · 25/10/2013 22:48

Though at least with Lizzie they did have the dramatic collapse when pg with twins and subsequent major heart surgery. But she never goes for check ups, nor does young Dan. Off on his gap year with 'friends' we've never heard of, bladdy bla. Mind you, all the young of Ambridge have friends we've never heard of.

nennypops · 25/10/2013 22:50

I'm a bit worried about Kenton saying the wedding is going to be the happiest day of his life. Usually in soapland that's a signal for disaster. Is Jolene going to turn out to be a bigamist?

curlew · 25/10/2013 22:53

My dd was in the car when it was on tonight and said "Oh no, that's Kenton dead. I quite liked him"

curlew · 25/10/2013 22:54

And where's Bert?

ErrolTheDragon · 25/10/2013 23:11

I felt doomy when I heard that too. They've been going on a bit about how nice it will be to see Meriel.

What are the odds on Jill running the poor kid down?

TheSilveryPussycat · 26/10/2013 10:38

I was on tenterhooks when they were messing around on quadbikes. And then Jim joined in! Bastard SWs

JessieMcJessie · 26/10/2013 11:05

basketz Shula said Daniel was travelling with friends he met while working at the summer camp. Character makes friends outside Ambridge shocker!

lljkk · 26/10/2013 11:16

Oh I like the new bitchy Emma.
Then again I loved it whenever Brenda tore a strip off of Tom.
And LIllian was always at her best with a hint of the evil about her.
Only bitch I don't warm to is Elizabeth, come to think of it.

Why do I think Hellin + Rob storyline isn't finished? Maybe H. could turn into a BunnyBoiler... calf-boiler??

Can't wait to meet Jess. Grin

Panzee · 26/10/2013 12:00

I want Jess to look exactly like Helen. Easy done on the radio.

Sthingmustbescaringthemaway · 26/10/2013 13:01

Has anyone been following TA week here?

Some interesting stuff. I downloaded the script for last Monday's weird indie episode - still can't understand how it evolved.

nennypops · 26/10/2013 13:35

I'm sure there's lots more mileage in Hellin and Rob. She really irritated me the way she carried on like it was totally inconsiderate of him to want to support his wife when her father died, and her demands that he leave his wife and/or carry on cheating on her. Seems to me if you go after a married man knowing how it would hurt his wife if she knew, you don't get to act all entitled if it turns out to be you that gets hurt.

TheSilveryPussycat · 26/10/2013 13:48

Unless you're Hellin, of course Wink - when it is mandatory to act like a spoiled child. nenny surely you're not wanting a personality transplant...

TheSilveryPussycat · 26/10/2013 13:49

..for hellin, not you Blush

ppeatfruit · 26/10/2013 14:35

I 've just caught up so I'm qualified to discuss last week's (I've been abroad!) Yes I was also thinking 'who TF is Morry? have they reintroduced Harry? I agree we don't need any new speaking characters it just makes TA more effin' light weight. Also is Anthea a looker then ? an Audrey Hepburn lookalike 'cos she doesn't come across as one to me.

I ignored the thread about penis beakers so have no idea what you're all talking about !

I reckon Jill being a bad driver is a public information plot about driving 'when you're too old' and accepting that unless you need new glasses or whatever there comes a time to stop driving. Note Jim 'tried' to tell Shula but, as usual, was interrupted.

Has anyone noticed that there's a lot of referring to convos that'd happened the day before? Too many times last week IMHO .

Sthingmustbescaringthemaway · 26/10/2013 15:49

I would agree with you about Jill - were it not for the fact that she will be responsible for her Dgd and ex-Dil next week. Think ErrolD may be right - though it would be better for continuity if it's Mel rather than Meriel who gets squished.

ppeatfruit · 26/10/2013 16:07

Well they can't 'kill off' anyone else until 'Jack The Immortal' is laid to rest can they?

ppeatfruit · 26/10/2013 16:17

Of course there could a 'late romance' between Jill 'n Jim eh! The names go well together or did someone mention he's not anti hunting.
