Hi there!

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 31/01/2010 15:29

hi ladies sorry not been around a lot, found out we are having a baby boy, bit of a shock after 3 DDs so no more pink prams for me, I had it all sussed out was going to get a P&T Vibe then when DD3 is old enough one of those new lovely XLRs (?) in lilac.

Now debating whether a Vibe is worth the money, I mean £500 is a lot of money and there's been so many stories of dodgy brakes, rear seats getting stuck etc I don't know now, thought about a Dash but they are still £450, am now thinking about getting another Sport at least I know it's faults.

Don't know whether to sell or keep the Lunamix I am not using it anymore.

5inthebed · 31/01/2010 16:06

Sk, congrats on the boy

I'd personally get a Vibe, they seem to hold their value as well, so you wouldn't lose out on much. They are lovely in the flesh, I prefer them to the normal P&Ts.

Evening

Congrats SK!!

5inthe I would be FUMING your poor ds .

Can't warm to the bee think it's going.

I feel like I'm in love for someone never wanting another dc I feel so so lucky and happy now . Dd brill with him, only odd moments of jelousy.

pebbles79 · 31/01/2010 20:51

Awww, that's lovely Carrie. I remember when pregnant with DS2 I was scared I wouldn't be able to love him because I loved DS1 so much - didn't realise all this new love that grows when you have a new baby, you don't have to compromise any of the love you have for your other DC

5inthebed · 31/01/2010 21:05

Oo Carrie, how much would you want for the bee ? Glad you are all getting on as a family of three. Its lovely that your DD is enjoying being a big sister as well. Does your DD look so big now though? I found that about my kids when I had a new baby.

Dunoon, got your email but can't see it as my yahoo is being narky. Will try tomorrow.

nicolamumof3 · 31/01/2010 21:26

Thats lovely Carrielou. I don't like the bee its sooooo low down. our next door neighbours just bought one for their first who's due next week he was v.impressed with it saying that it will last for four years i reckon he'll be having one of my maclarens by the end of the year haha!!

5inthebed · 31/01/2010 21:34

4 years ! Yeah right!

nicolamumof3 · 31/01/2010 21:52

My luka has tonsilitus

he had a raging temp all afternoon but was shivering. said his ear hurt in between crying. thought oh no can't be ear infection with gromets???

went to out of hours docs when terry got home he's got tonsilitus but won't take the bloody penicillin grrr. any tips? tried bribes, mixing with calpol, syringe??

5inthebed · 31/01/2010 21:54

Poor Luka . WOuld he have it mixed in milk?

nicolamumof3 · 31/01/2010 22:01

he doesn't really drink milk anymore. And with juice he doesn't drink a whole cup in one go so we won't know whether he's had it all. If he's still not taking it tomorrow i will ring docs for advice. Wondering how long he is contagious for and how long to stay off nursery once he's better?

5inthebed · 31/01/2010 22:07

He's only contagious if it's viral tonsilitus, which can't be treated with antibs . Poor little bloke. Those antibs taste awful, can't blame him for not wanting to take it.

pebbles79 · 31/01/2010 22:09

Have you got any ice lolly moulds? Freeze the penicillin with some juice for a special ice lolly.

nicolamumof3 · 31/01/2010 22:15

ah thanks 5in thats good to know so once he's well in himself back to nursery? phew!!

thats a good idea pebs. i've got some pineapple juice will hunt out moulds in the morning and try that for him.

maxybrown · 31/01/2010 22:18

Oh poor thing, horrible

Would he suck it through a straw maybe?? play a game, suck it all up......?? Who can suck it the fastest.....

Guess who has a brand new baby jogger elite? tis lurvely. Dh suggested it should be our only pushchair

pebbles79 · 31/01/2010 22:20

We had real problems trying to get penicillin down my DS too when he had tonsillitis, but have you tasted it, it's absolutely disgusting! I tried to see if it came in any other flavours but it doesn't. How they can even say it's supposed to be orange flavoured is beyond me.

nicolamumof3 · 31/01/2010 22:22

oooh my i bet that has cheered you up!!

piccies piccies piccies!! you still need your xlr tho hunnie

now do you anyone else want a brand new pair of blue crocs size 9 they are the new electro style really really nice. Otherwise i shall return them.

nighty nighty ladies, keep your fingers crossed for me that luka isn't too bad in night.

oh and can't believe your beloved nipper is going maxy

horsemadgal · 31/01/2010 22:58

Oo maxy, shiny new buggy lucky you. How do you like it?

Nicola, can you add the medicine to fromage frais or similar thing that he likes? Otherwise, head lock him and skoot it in with a syringe.

carrielou, does that mean you are keeping Zapp?

maxybrown · 31/01/2010 23:25

What about adding flavouring to the medicine?

I will do some piccies

I know about Nipper, was bit sad before cleaning it up, although helped along by the fact that I have a spanking new pushchair. I got it from the shop on my own so DH has to go to pick the box up in the week - I made them put my name on it in the back

I felt like everyone was staring at me coming out of the shop ha ha. It felt HUGE!!! Was really scared about getting on the bus with it, but it was fine and fitted next to another pushchair even. It would turn on a pin i think. DH wouldn't let me push today though went to somerfield and he kept standing there turning it round with his little finger.

Anyway, over to my Mums tomorrow so will take it and see how we go on on 3 buses, 2 of which have small space for pushchairs.

nicolamumof3 · 01/02/2010 08:17

oh fab maxy!! so you are happier with your swivel wheel then lol!

well what a night we've had!

Luka woke up just before 1am he was sooooo hot he was delirious. He is now refusing any kind of medicine there is no way we would get that into him he just spits out any medicine now.

So the out of hours doc eventually called us back and said straight to A&E so off Terry went at 2.30am. As well as tonsilitus he now has ear infection (typical man didn't ask how this is possible with the grometts) anyways they gave him huge dose of penicillin (up his bottom!! ) came home 4.30 wouldn't sleep so terry stayed up and watched toy story with him. Terry now in bed luka asleep on sofa still v.hot. how on earth will i get him to take calpol/nurofen he needs it to get temp down

maxybrown · 01/02/2010 08:52

Nicola just keep him stripped and a cold flannel when possible. James is excellent at spitting medicine out too. He will burn the fever off, it is just keeping him as cool as possible in any other way, put him in a very cool bath if he is up to it later. What is his temp? maybe as antibiotics kick in he will start taking calpol, but he will burn it off if kept as cool as poss in other way although frightnening when they are so hot! It's just nowadays we give paracetamol so that "artificially" does it. My cousin had severe "hot fits" when he was younger and these things always helped.

i know it is all easier said than done, especially when you are all tired too.

Hope he's ok x

nicolamumof3 · 01/02/2010 08:57

Thanks Maxy its so hard to strip him as he is actually shivering and saying 'cold mummy' he won't drink either. he's awake now tate is reading him Ben10 annual! its time like this i think its quite sweet they have each other.

carrielou2007 · 01/02/2010 09:31

Divatheshopaholic · 01/02/2010 11:19

Hi all,
We had snow yesterday and today all roads are iced. Obviously they did not see snow coming, and did not grit at all
How is everyone?
Carrie i bet baby is growing fast
Maxy, Sounds like sommeone got fabby pram. Have you tried it yet? Do cancel tomorrow again, how is James? We could arrange again sometimes later.
Nicola, so sorry to hear about ds. I always use syringe, ds is also devil when it comes to medicine, but dd loves it, think calpol is treat
Pebbles, ice lolly medicine is the fabbest idea i ever heard, might use that next time.
I often freeze fromaige for kids, feel good about when you know its good for them.

tutu100 · 01/02/2010 11:25

Nicola, sorry to jump in about something that isn't prams when I don't post on here (just lurk in the shadows!). My ds1 has grommets and they still get ear infections, grommets don't prevent that, but because there is a channel for the muck to drain out of and the pressure doesn't build up they don't tend to get earache so you don't always know they have an infection. Grommets can help reduce the number of infections a child gets because they drain the ear.

My poor ds1 was poorly for 2 days before I took him to the OOH centre only to be told that he had a really severe infection in both ears. I felt dreadful, but they told me he was in no pain from the ear infection just felt rough and out of sorts because of his temperature.

Hope your ds feels better soon.
