oh. someone told me it was only 15kgs... thats good news.

or should I wait for the promenade?

do you think the verve is better than the duet?

pramsgalore · 29/09/2011 13:53

i doubt the promenade will be out in time, i don't own a duet, but have heard they are not great. i love my verve, it is so easy to push, even with the weight in it, alot of the new ones coming out, prob won't be out until well into next year. orbit are bringing out a double but don't know when, i own a single orbit and love it

suzie38 · 29/09/2011 14:23

Widths are important to me because i plan on buying a bus pass once DD stops napping to try and cut down on my petrol costs...I'll feel more like nipping to a further away park if it's not going to cost a bomb in petrol...Well that's the theory so i want pushchairs that are potentially bus friendly so i get more use out of them...The Donkey is an optical illusion, as it's the same width as many singles but looks very wide because of the handle and i worry a bus driver would say, you can't get that on this bus even though most wheelchairs would be as wide if not wider...The Tako wouldn't look as wide because of the handle, but the back wheels would be wider...The Xari is 1cm wider back wheel wise...Mind you my plans for bus buggies are the Flyer and Flite...My Dad uses the citisport twice a week on buses.

Tiggywunkle · 29/09/2011 14:35

I certainly wouldn't expect the Promenade this side of spring next year. I think the 15kgs weight of your DC is key. First of all in a nutshell, UK pushchairs need to be tested to 15kgs for sale. Many go beyond this but it's on your head to research these. For example the Baby Jogger.com gives the US weight limits.
I like the look of the Baby Jogger GT Double because it eliminates all my niggles with the City Mini and has the advantages of the Elite but without the bulk. I would estimate spring for that at the earliest too.
Right now with a 15kg child the easiest doubles to push are: the Nipper 360, the TFK Twinner Twist Duo, the ABC Adventure Buggy, the iCandy Peach Blossom, the Baby Jogger City Elite, the Easywalker Duo and the Britax B-Dual. That's my short list ;) The Verve, I don't think is terribly light to push. It's no heavy either though - somewhere in the middle. It may suit you but I found it niggly - the handlebars hurt my palms, it's a %#?$Â¥? to fold and is like lifting a lead box, my daughter hated the open hood at the back (windy). I wouldn't discount it but go and have a really thorough play where you fold it (even finding the lower seat fold button takes some doing!) completely, put your DC in both seats and try lifting it into your car. But equally you probably need to do the above with any of the pushchairs above.

Tiggywunkle · 29/09/2011 14:38

I think you are right about optical illusions and first impressions. I think the average bus driver would still think the Duet was wide and yet think an Urban Jungle wasn't when they are the same width. Like you say though, I use different pushchairs for different outings and I would be taking whichever pushchair had the simplest fold on a bus just in case I got told to fold it.

pramsgalore · 29/09/2011 14:55

tiggy, i find the verve really easy to fold and do it really quick, i don't find it heavy to push, but it is heavy to lift, but i can still get it up and into the boot, but then i am used to pushing bigs dc's so when ds gets out its like pushing a feather Grin, although with ds in its still easy. i agree the back hood is a waste of time, the handlebar i find ok though.

Tiggywunkle · 29/09/2011 15:03

Do you fold the side wings in each time? They killed my hands and gave me a blood blister when my thumb got trapped :( the only time I tried to lift it into my car when I was out, I was struggling so much that two men ran up and grabbed an end each for me! I found the Verve odd in that it felt heavier when you tried to push it than if you just nudged it along. It wasn't comparatively light though...to other pushchairs I have tried. The B-Dual and Hauck Duett pushed easier for example.

Tiggywunkle · 29/09/2011 15:30

Scratch that!! The Promenade is due in December :) (do we believe that though????? I have taken to adding three months onto any release date these days!) I heard earlier that the Strawberry is now due in October but I thought it wasn't due until next year? I give up on dates lololol

pramsgalore · 29/09/2011 17:11

yes i do, i must confess i have not tried the others you mention, but for me the verve works brill. i lift it up into a seven seater so straight up, no turning it on its side, its sits up right on wheels, is a perfect fit [one back seat is slightly more forward than the other but not by much]
it would be nice if the new p&t came out that soon, but like you i bet it don't. do you know when the bj versa is due out yet.
i have taken my verve on a bus, but if on my own, just with dd i take a small one like my jive or citisport but i hate pushing both, but they do the job and i can fold the citisport while holding dd in seconds.

suzie38 · 29/09/2011 17:13

I didn't know you had a Citisport prams I've got 2!!!

suzie38 · 29/09/2011 17:20

prams I was looking at the Xari (yet again) on the CR site...If you took the seat and wheels off the chassis does it seem quite a small package then??? I'm not too bothered about the seat as i can strap it onto the front passenger seat if needed...But it's the chassis that tend to be harder to get into cars.

pramsgalore · 29/09/2011 17:27

i will check with wheels off hang on, but last night i folded it down and ended up setting it back up, as it took less room set up under my stairs, it does not have an auto lock either!!

pramsgalore · 29/09/2011 17:36

right with all wheels off and bare in mind the wheels are labeled left and right, it is 20" wide and 26.5" long [thats with the handle folded in/down, i think it is compact

pramsgalore · 29/09/2011 17:40

i have had a citisport for years, it is hardly used and so looks brand new, it's handy to have around, i think it is heading for living in the car, for when we forget to put the verve in. they are very easy to fold down and very compact

suzie38 · 29/09/2011 18:11

And what's the depth/height with the seat off...It's 42cm/16.5" with seat on i'm assuming and that hopefully includes the bumper bar sticking out...Thanks...Citisport was great in London for carrying up and down the tube.

pramsgalore · 29/09/2011 18:55

i measure it at its highest point just over 14", it makes no differance to wheels on or off to the height

pramsgalore · 29/09/2011 18:56

and thats with seat off.

suzie38 · 29/09/2011 21:16

Someone has offered to swap my Orbit for a Stokke with 2 seats and 2 carrycots...What do i need to find out in terms of the Stokke...I've never particulary fancied one but it might be easier to sell one especially if i can sell the extras seperately.

suzie38 · 29/09/2011 21:17

And my Mothercare Olympus has finally sold!!! Hip hip hurrah!!!

pramsgalore · 29/09/2011 21:20

is it a new stokke or an old one

suzie38 · 29/09/2011 21:23

I've no idea but i'm guessing it's not going to be an Evo...I'll ask her.

pramsgalore · 29/09/2011 21:24

this will make a differance, also the guarantee can be transfered to new owner, but you need the paperwork ie receipt and guarantee print out, [you need both]

pramsgalore · 29/09/2011 21:27

then no i would not swap a stokke for an orbit, you will loose out. also certain years had problems ie the seat would fall down, this was fixed by handing out little pegs to use, not good, oh and you would hate it, they have no suspension

suzie38 · 29/09/2011 21:28

There appears from looking on eBay that there are 3 versions plus the Evo...Is that correct???

pramsgalore · 29/09/2011 21:31

and what colour is it
