Okaaaaay, new thread, new addictions, newly hammered bank accounts abound.

i bought a mountain buggy for ds 5 years old and he was too big for it, but he was no where near the weight limit and is not that big for his age, the sn mountain buggys have deeper seats which inturn give a higher seat to hood and they also have the footplate adjustable, you can get doubles and singles but both are discontinued so you would have to watch ebay.

pramsgalore · 25/09/2011 22:50

i use a verve and find the front seat huge, kiddicare have them on display

thisisyesterday · 25/09/2011 23:04

really? my nearly 6 year old fitted in our mountain buggy ok last year.

guess it depends on how they're proportioned.

but yes, you can get a double with a SN footrest which goes lower (a foot each side of the front wheel)

thisisyesterday · 25/09/2011 23:05

like this one (only you need one that hasn't been sold already)

pramsgalore · 25/09/2011 23:10

at first it was ok, but it did not take long before his head was touching the hood and he looked far too big for it, a shame as it was super easy to push

TruthSweet · 25/09/2011 23:24

I think it because her ankles/knees/hips are affected by the arthritis she needs for the position to be changeable (I change the angle of the footrest daily)

I found with the BJCMD the length was good enough (DD1 fitted in it at 117cm and DD2 is only 105cm) but the angle her legs were in caused pain. She is leggier than DD1 (who's a gazelle!) was at the same age

Just not sure we can cope with spending £500+ though Grin

And I have heard even if we got funding for something other than a Maclaren Major they don't take siblings needs into account so will not fund for doubles where only one child is SN. I doubt she would get funding anyway as she can walk it 'just' hurts her and tires her out terribly.

On other news it looks like all of the DDs have hyper mobile joints much to DH's disgust (and near fainting when DD1 was showing him how far her wrists bend Shock). That might explain why DD1 has the occasional leg pains...

thisisyesterday · 25/09/2011 23:42

no, you're right, they don't

my cleaner has a severely disabled daughter and when she outgrew the maclaren major they gave her the most basic wheelchair ever.

she has a younger brother too, so for ages my poor cleaner had to push her dd in the major while her older child pushed the youngest in a buggy!
and the major/wheelchair are nightmare for pushing one-handed as you can imagine so if she has to take them both out without her eldest daughter she simply can't cope with them both

she asked if she could have the value of the wheelchair in money so she could add to it to buy a better pushchair and was told no Hmm

Someone asked me about the B-Agile but I cant find the thread. But I have had literally 5 mins play so here are very first impressions - which are usually fair. I have the red one with the suede type feel which is nice - much nicer than the standard black ribbed Britax fabric. The folded package looks small. I don't have a BJCM here at present, but the fold looks small. It was easy enough to pop the wheels on and open the B-Agile which is just as well because I can't find any instructions anywhere!! Because of that folding was tricky. The button moves up and down but somehow it eventually pressed right in and with a pull of the handle the pushchair folded.
Beyond that I am not convinced. The seat looks wide and large but the seat is fairly reclined when upright and I can't get it any more upright. But yet the hood sockets are then a fair way forwards which means when the hood is back, DD is laid on the hood fabric and yet the seat itself looks large. Hard to explain really. To be fair I need both children in both pushchairs side by side but DD didn't look quite right. I asked her if she was sitting back properly and she was. I need another look but DD doesnt sit right in the B-Dual seat either. Her feet were comfy on the footrest. The hood is large. I am not a fan of mesh in UK hoods. There's enough ventilation at the front of a pushchair without mesh in hoods or holes or mesh at the back of hoods IMHO. It's more often cold and windy here even in summer than it is baking hot and still. Whilst I applaude the use of the hood fabric as a pocket - great idea! - the fabric is held up by one small bit of Velcro and is flapping all over. It's dusty in the first 5 mins from literally being put up and down. The recline is a front to back squeeze rather than side to side which took a minute to work out but the recline dropped easily. However putting the seat back up isn't as easy. It takes two hands and at first glance I appear to have to do one side then the other. The open basket looks good. There's a small peekaboo window with Velcro on. I love the automatic lock :)
Don't get me wrong I am pretty nit picky. If it's the B-Agile v's an average umbrella stroller I would rather have something like the B-Agile but I am thinking with a v's BJCM viewpoint and at very first glance I prefer the BJCM even though I prefer the Britax fabrics.
Please bear in mind this is a 5 min quick look over and I haven't pushed it more than around the hall as yet! More to come in future!

MonkeysPunk · 26/09/2011 21:05

Ah, Thanks for the flowers Tiggy! Do we deserve them for egging each other on to buy more buggies? Wink
Have you got shipping notice for your senzz yet? Mine should arrive tomorrow.
Doc Martin's on now. He should buy flowers for his "missus" and a decent buggy instead of that Marmet (Whitby Sol).

Honeydragon · 26/09/2011 21:23

Got the new Chassis with the new wheels today. I'll post on the Bee thread after a proper test but at present they seem fine. A high speed walk proved no shimmy.

The ride seems a bit smoother too, the wheels are much less swivelly, but it still turns brilliantly. I'll give it a few weeks and see how we go.

Tiggywunkle · 26/09/2011 21:26

That does look huge! Why is interesting stuff always miles away? I havent had a shipping notice but then again I think I bought it under hubby's name! I hope the BJCM4 comes soon. I want to decide which to take on holiday next week! We probably need something cheap and cheerful (hmmm!) because it will get left whilst swimming etc.
I am mega excited by Bumbleride coming to the UK. I sooo would like an Indie.

Tiggywunkle · 26/09/2011 21:27

Glad you got your new chassis. Has DD got back in the seat yet?

suzie38 · 26/09/2011 21:29

Any idea when they're coming??? I don't think the Flyer will make it over here though...But the Indie's yes...Used Flite today and it's pretty good for an umbrella stroller, seems to push easier everytime i use it.

Honeydragon · 26/09/2011 21:41

You can get the Flyer here already but its over £400

OP posts:
suzie38 · 26/09/2011 21:48

Where's that from then???

suzie38 · 26/09/2011 21:53

That Mothercare Spin buggy is actually a First Years Wave stroller in the USA.

Tiggywunkle · 26/09/2011 21:57

I was just reading that the Baby Jogger GT has longer leg room and a larger foot area because like posted above, the feedback has been that children still fit in the seat weight and height wise but not leg wise. So that's a good improvement.

Honeydragon · 26/09/2011 22:02

that Janes tote place, they've calculated vat into the price etc. I assume its still classed as an import as I thought they have to pass UK specifications before retailers can sell them.

OP posts:
suzie38 · 26/09/2011 22:03

Hollie Shultz uses a Vista and Maclaren Techno XT herself.

Honeydragon · 26/09/2011 22:06

Indies forward facing only isn't it?

OP posts:
TruthSweet · 26/09/2011 22:06

That's a bugger Tiggy, that they have re-designed the BJCM (well and completely changed the wheelsWink) as by the time it will be for sale over here I can guarantee DD2 will have out grown it.

They must have some very interesting looking children in the BJ family.....
