Okaaaaay, new thread, new addictions, newly hammered bank accounts abound.

OP posts:

people just either don't think or think they know best and think they should air their views out loud, i have heard of some mums handing out little cards and that seems to shut people up, may have to look into them.

Tiggywunkle · 08/10/2011 21:36

Lol no DD was 99cms last time I measured her and she's just shot through her brand new age 4-5 winter dresses! Eeep!
The Qtro is fabulous but it's not small folded. It's got adjustable suspension to to level you want, the handlebar adjusts to loads of positions, huge comfy seat, good shopping basket and more. How about the Baby Jogger Elite though? When you pop the wheels off (dead easy) the fold is pretty flat. I really fancy a single one TBH.

Tiggywunkle · 08/10/2011 21:37

I have seen loads of cheap Qtros on EBay lately - I was miffed coz I paid double!

TruthSweet · 08/10/2011 21:54

There's only one at the moment fr £425 (IIRC).

I'm working on DH for me getting the £40 Halo but I don't know I could dither for England.

With DD2 I just take stuff out of DD1's wardrobe and give it straight to DD2. She's out growing age 5-6 tights (they fall off her but are too short ). On the other hand she is slim enough to wear 12-18m maxi skirts as knee length ones. Mind you I bought DD3 a charity shop skirt by sight the other day, tried it on her and it was a bit big on the waist so I checked the size. It was 3-6m . DD3 is going to be 2 on Tues. She is a skinny midget, she certainly does't look like DH & I (tall fat large built people).

Tiggywunkle · 08/10/2011 22:01

I had the Halo briefly. It was good to push but I couldn't cope with no basket so it got sold! My two are in consecutive PJ sizes! It confuses the heck out of DH because they have matching PJs lol. I paid about £450...lol I didn't look too closely!

suzie38 · 08/10/2011 22:06

I came across the Book stroller through Baby Gizmo on Facebook...If you want an idea of height and weight growth have a look in your red books if your children follow the lines consistantly...I know DD will be able to rear face until somewhere between 2.5 and 3 years as she follows the 37th line for weight give or take a slight variation.

Tiggywunkle · 08/10/2011 22:09

Actually, I can't have paid that much....probably nearer £400 but still too much!

TruthSweet · 08/10/2011 22:12

I have just seen a warning under a review about a problem with the hinging on the Halo their child nearly lost a finger! There is also a recall on certain chassis numbers so that's that.

Back to the drawing board.

pramsgalore · 08/10/2011 22:18

my red books are empty!! dd1 was weighed all the time, but when i moved the hv only do one morning a week and its packed, waiting time is well over an hour and no pushchairs, so not a chance with 2 close in age.

Tiggywunkle · 08/10/2011 22:24

What are you looking for Truth?

TruthSweet · 08/10/2011 22:34

The moon on a plate it feels like Tiggy.

Light-ish,
flat/book fold,
recline function,
shopping basket that can hold more than one apple,
suspension but not air tyres (too many broken vodka/beer bottles around hereHmm),
good sized hood with window (I have discovered I can cope with a window in the hood plus DD3 doesn't seem to care to face me any more!),
not dangerous (a la Halo!)
most importantly CHEAP (or cheap 2nd hand)

Not too demanding am I?

MonkeysPunk · 09/10/2011 07:48

Next have more choice of snowsuits this year than previously for boys and they've extended the size range too, so they'll now fit up to 5y!
There are so many exciting new prams to be launched in 2012 I hope they don't all wait til April though.
I'm really keen on the BJgt or the easywalker June atm.
Going for a potentially muddy walk with ILs today. Might need our summit xc. They will prob look at me as if to say why isn't he walking. I'm slightly tempted to take a sling so I can carry him when his legs are tired instead. They can all carry their own drinks / coats then.Grin
Ds will of course walk as far as his little legs will carry him. Actually now I think, walk is probably short. Despite me being fat big, I'm probably much fitter. Perhaps I shall try to persuade everyone to walk a bit faster / further for fun! I am obviously in a wicked mood today!

TruthSweet · 09/10/2011 09:10

Tiggy - Your Triple mum not anywhere near Guildford is she? There is a Valco double with toddler seat on Gumtree for £200 here.

Thought it was worth a mention.

TruthSweet · 09/10/2011 09:13

There is also a strolli rider (the bike type buggy board thing) for £15 in Bramley on Gumtree!

Tiggywunkle · 09/10/2011 10:34

Thanks Truth but we are several hundred miles north :( But I might see her today so will bookmark it to show her. I know a company who would export Valcos. They are kindly getting my new wheel :)
I assume you have looked at the City Mini / Metro / Micro? I will have a think.

TruthSweet · 09/10/2011 10:57

Ah, wasn't sure if they were a friend from your days down south (you did used to be GuildfordNanny didn't you?), a BB customer (so could be anywhere in the UK) or a local friend. Thought it was worth a punt!

I have looked at the BJ ones I just can't stretch to that though. I've been mainly looking at Graco/Chicco type strollers (you now the kind - shopping basket with a seat on the front!)

aswellasyou · 09/10/2011 11:07

Truth, the faulty Halos were manufactured in 2009 and I think there were 3 batches affected. I'm pretty sure it says the year on the back of the seat with the batch number. I was very happy with my Halo except that it was a city pushchair because the wheels are pretty hard. The seat is huge and tall. It's also really comfy and the footmuff was pretty long. I would definitely recommend it for about town when you don't need to stick loads of bags in the basket. I had the prambag for mine which holds plenty of food/drink/nappies/wipes etc., then hung my bag off the handle and put coats, blankets and books under the straps. As I was cleaning it to sell, I also found a secret pocket behind the footrest with a phone holder so you can store more in there.

aswellasyou · 09/10/2011 11:12

What about a Frog or Gecko? They have everything except a windown in the hood and they do go cheap on eBay sometimes. Especially when they refuse to post and you can collect it. Wink

aswellasyou · 09/10/2011 11:13

Just realised you said no air tyres! Ignore me. Smile

pramsgalore · 09/10/2011 12:27

i have had a mothercare trenton [which is a graco], mamas and papas freestyler both were very good, huge basket, easy to fold, easy to push, not that compact though, but do flat fold and the freestyler free stands, the trenton is huge folded and don't freestand. infact i still own a freestyler and have owned a few of them over the years.

pramsgalore · 09/10/2011 12:28

oh and freestylers go dirt cheap on ebay and i mean cheap

suzie38 · 09/10/2011 14:17

I had a Freestyler as well...Bought it for £3 from a car boot sale while pregnant...It was great for delivering my papers with when the Britax Ultra got too heavy to lug in and out of the car...Sold it for around £25 on eBay.

suzie38 · 09/10/2011 15:57

I'm now considering getting an all black Cameleon...I long for a black framed pushchair and i really don't think the Xari seat is big enough even if DD is tiny...And i really don't think i can get the Donkey in the car unless i remove all 4 wheels which will be a right faff...Cameleon i'll only need to remove the back ones which i know is easy to do.

pramsgalore · 09/10/2011 16:58

i like that,
black frames are nice and the cam in black is stunning.
