New thread for buggy collectors! Grin

I'm not naming and shaming yet. But you guys know what model of pushchair I use and that it has a well know little issue with its wheels. Well I've contacted them today to let them known it is a safety issue not just design, as they have stated. The pushchair tipped today whilst I was pushing it. Couldn't stop it in time Smile and dd hit her head on the path. Pictures on profile.

I really hope they take this seriously now Sad

Honeydragon · 19/09/2011 14:37

erm smile is meant to be Sad

thought I'd post as they threads near the end and it only feels right to let the Company know first (and you guys).

Tiggywunkle · 19/09/2011 14:40

Is that a pushchair named after a buzzy insect before I trawl through and check? I think I would make a bigger announcement that this given your daughter has been hurt. I really hope she is ok and that you are ok. Hugs

Tiggywunkle · 19/09/2011 14:42

OMG!!!! I have just managed to find the photos. That's terrible:(
Poor DD :(

friggFRIGG · 19/09/2011 14:46

oh blardy hell honey thats friggin awful! she's got a really big bump there!
i hope she's okay!Sad

Honeydragon · 19/09/2011 14:51

yes Tiggy bzzz

My first instinct was to come on here and go raaaaar! But in the interests of fairness I have given them first right to reply as they are sending out washers wheels etc.

I told them it had got worse though, and they said it was an annoyance rather than a danger. Hmm Again to be fair they were taking an interest when I described exactly what was happening (thank god dh clever engineer type).

If they dismiss now, after this it then yes I'll immediately let people here know it's not the best option to purchase until they resolve this issue!!

Tiggywunkle · 19/09/2011 17:15

Thats a good attitude to have. I was reading somewhere - maybe here - that Bugaboo have some of the best customer service, so hopefully they are good with you. I hope they apologise to your daughter somehow.

suzie38 · 19/09/2011 17:22

Ouchies...That looks really sore...Hope things get sorted out satisfactorily for you both.

Honeydragon · 19/09/2011 17:33

I couldn't fault them for how straight up they are. They are very transparent over the wheel issue.....I really hope they sort it out as it is a fabbo pushchair, despite having developed a determination to maim dd.

I missed a call from them earlier they will call back tomorrow, so at least they want to investigate further Smile

aswellasyou · 19/09/2011 17:33

Oh gosh! Shock that's awful! I hope she's feeling better asap and that they give you a reasonable response with a new pushchair and loads of money! Wink I love your stripey wrap by the way. Smile

Honeydragon · 19/09/2011 17:37

In away if it potentially is a further issue that could arise with others at least it happened to dd who is 21 months and bounces rather than a weeny one.

The wrap is a Niu Niu one, they are now called sugar and spice, I need to ebay it actually as we no longer use it

they do lovely slings and mei teis

MonkeysPunk · 19/09/2011 22:27

So sorry your daughter was hurt Honeydragon. I hope this is resolved soon.
I've been seeing lots of coach prams lately. I guess it would be somewhat ridiculous to get one now for a 3y old! Even I can see that. But if I were to win the lottery I would! A nice shiny black balmoral.Grin

aswellasyou · 19/09/2011 22:39

Those wraps are lovely but my back always hurts after 5 minutes using a wrap and I have to carry my own bag! Shock

MonkeysPunk · 20/09/2011 10:25

Aswellasyou, have you tried carrying on your back using a snugly adjusted woven wrap? I've always found back carries are easiest with heavier little ones, and a firm non stretchy wrap such as a storchenwiege or didymos works well for me. It did take a while to learn how to get Dd or Ds safely on my back, and I found online videos really helpful. There is a bag called an "onbag", that is compatible with child carrying. It's expensive, though v good. There are online sewing instructions for the design if you're talented that way!

OP posts:
aswellasyou · 20/09/2011 10:52

I don't think I'd manage any wrap, even on my back, to be honest. I got a slipped disc during my pregnancy so it's my back that's the problem. I carried my daughter in a Moby Wrap occasionally up until she was about 8kg, but within half an hour I'd be desperate to take it off and not carry anything at all! It's a shame because I liked the ability to feed her while walking around, so it would have been convenient if it hadn't been for my back problems. I've been hanging upside down on one of these about once a month for the last six months and it does seem to be getting better but I'm reluctant to aggravate it again.

Honeydragon · 20/09/2011 11:42

Bugaboo called today, they are replacing the whole chassis to look at with the wheels on. They'll contact me to arrange a swap.

Apparently the new models with new wheels aren't getting any problems. But they use plastic ball bearings so I'll be interested in the performance - if I can get dd back in it.

Tiggywunkle · 20/09/2011 12:57

Thats good that they are replacing the chassis for you. I hope you are happy with it when it arrives..and that you can get DD back in it.

Honeydragon · 20/09/2011 12:59

They want the chassis too I think to test the whole thing together. Its good news for the 2011 models too I guess, if they aren't having problems.

MonkeysPunk · 20/09/2011 13:25

Sorry to hear about your back problems aswellasyou. I do hope it improves over time. Mine has.
Honeydragon I'm glad youre getting a new chassis. Also that they're taking the old chassis to examine it.
They never took me seriously when I said the harness was too short (bee plus) and the wheels would shimmy and lock if the. buggy was pushed quickly or empty in particular, or if Ds was parent facing. They told me it wasnt intended as a rear facing buggy for older children that are sitting upright. I was advised to use ff and to push lower seat panel fully in to smallest setting to maximise the harness length.

OP posts:
Honeydragon · 20/09/2011 13:44

The harness is annoying. I wish manufacturers would get over this RF for younger dc's nonsense too.

We use RF to avoid the wind or for a chat when she's a bit poorly. The down side of modern pushchairs is they assume everyone has a car.

The old silvercrosses were fully reversible and had full suspension as they were used to carry a child and stuff a long way.

Honeydragon · 20/09/2011 13:46

Oh, you can use a sling with some back problems as you can put the weight on your legs iyswim. But my attitude with backs is if you don't need to do something than don't do it at all, best to keep them healthy as possible.

Tiggywunkle · 20/09/2011 21:32

I reeeaaaaaallllyyyy reaaaaaalllyyy want a Baby Jogger Versa! Is that pushchair pretty much the dream? Forward and rear facing, comfy large seat, huge hood, good basket and two step easy fold???? I looovvveee it!

suzie38 · 20/09/2011 21:44
