This is as imaginative as I get!Wink
Frigg, my Mum works for the City Council doing disability adaptations to resident's houses. She goes to assessments with an OT, decides on adaptations needed, designs them, draws up plans, applies for planning permission and oversees the work. She's been in the same job since she was 18 so she's learnt a lot about all sorts of dsabilities along the way.

Lol It's black not purple. And yes it's a bit more than your budget. I will have a Powertwin coming up but not for a few weeks. It's only just arrived and it's also the lovely blue and greeny which you may not want for your girlies?

Tiggywunkle · 08/08/2011 11:34

Sorry I misread your message on my phone...Saoirse liked the Power twin but you don't. I honestly cant think of anything other than the Contours, BJCS, ABC and Uppavista (The B-Dual won't do what you want unless one baby is laid flat or they have short legs) unless you get into the realms of larger pushchairs like the Bebecar Vector Duo or One&Two, Mamas and Papas tandem (oh and don't touch the Skate with Junior seat - it's beyond awful) or you head into the realms of huge side by sides which won't fit in your mums boot or are expensive. Is there anything I have missed? I will have a think this morning. I honestly think the Contours is better than the BJCS for seating positions and if you can cope with the strange shape folded then I honestly would enjoy it :)

aswellasyou · 08/08/2011 11:36

I thought so. Most of my pushchairs have been blue actually!GrinBlush I don't mean to do it, but they're usually blue. I don't really want another Powertwin though. I've put a bid on a Select on eBay but I think it'll sell for arround £500.Sad

The fold on the Contours isn't a problem at all for us. I'm seriously considering the lightweight Contours on Amazon but don't tell Saoirse! Imara does have really short legs-how short does she need to be in the B Dual? She's on the 9th centile for height.

OP posts:
aswellasyou · 08/08/2011 11:42

I should have said, the reason Saoirse's not happy with the Contours is mostly due to its weight. She's a weakling small and thin and struggles to lift it or push it up slight hills. It's not a problem to me and I'm usually the one moving it and pushing it so I think she needs to stop complaining.Grin

Lol the trick with EBay is not to put bids in until the last 20 secs and then whack in the highest you can possibly afford and EBay will bid for you. Bidding early just bumps the price up too soon!! Not good if you are serious about something! Honestly honestly, the Contours is one of the lightest pushchairs to both lift and push - I think the B-Dual will be heavier. The B-Dual handle does rotate fairly low and pushes ok (the Contours is easier IMHO) but it's a great chunk of a thing to lift. I got hubby to put it in and out of the car or move it around the house which is saying something.

Re the B-Dual - both seats face forwards. The top seat can parent face. But if the top seat parent faces then a baby or toddler can easily kick a child even semi reclined in the lower seat (there's a photo on BB somewhere). There are also several photos in the Harrogate pages of us trying various positions with the upper seat parent facing and they dont really work. I will find the link in a sec for you. However the car seat parent facing on top works brilliantly.

Tiggywunkle · 08/08/2011 12:02

Trying out parent facing in the B-Dual

aswellasyou · 08/08/2011 12:09

I know most people do that with eBay but I can't be bothered!Grin I've thought about using Goofbay but I'm terrible at remembering to check my eBay account as it is.

I think the Contours is quite heavy to push-the Powertwin was infintely easier. And even our horrible Maclaren Twin Traveller felt lighter. Even though I think it's heavy, it doesn't bother me because I'm fairly strong. I've just tried to go to checkout to see the cost of the black Contours, but they don't ship to the UK. It's only 16.6kg rather than 25kg so would have been a good option.

I'm tempted to go and try the babies in a B Dual at Mothercare to see how they fit, although I won't hold out hope.Wink

DD could kick her brother in the upper seat parent facing. But if you look her feet overhang the footrest when it is horizontal and baby is reclined. If you look at the purple set of photos if the upper seat was upright with the footrest up, and the lower seat was semi reclined or possibly upright it may work....I am puzzling over this now and am contemplating a) digging the B-Dual out to try and b) keeping it to do a Vista comparison...would that be worth doing?? I don't think they are comparable but they look similar....

Tiggywunkle · 08/08/2011 12:19

Maybe as well I look at pushability with two older children on board. Push ability was very different and more related to the weight of the pushchair ie a heavy pushchair felt heavy to push, when the children were a year lighter. The Kobi is one of the easiest pushchairs to push with my two on board but yet is very heavy. I am looking forward to trying the Powertwin when I get chance. Hubby finally has some days off this week so I may get to play then. I think it would be worth trying your two out in Mothercare. I would love some photos for future reference if you do. I am wondering why I never put baby in the top parent facing....I wonder if I should keep the B-Dual....arrghh I don't like you lot sometimes [wunk]!!!!

aswellasyou · 08/08/2011 12:25

Grin Sorry!! I hadn't thought about the importance of pushchair weight or child weight as they get heavier.

I wish we could afford the city select, although we'd still have to try it in our mum's boot. I currently earn £200 per month and most goes on direct debits and diesel so it'd take forever to save that extra money. It's just not going to happen. Sad

Our powertwin was blue, aswell's had a few blue pushchairs and my Oyster is green so we're not fussed on the colour (we can't afford to be! Wink).

Like aswell said she'll be back at university from september so it won't get much use then. So what we're looking for is the perfect double which works well, easy to push, the girls can be turned each way and far enough apart not to kick each other, is attractive and all this for £150. Is that really too much to ask?!

Tiggywunkle · 08/08/2011 12:34

Errmmmm honestly....yes....sorry :(

I can't think of anything at present that you haven't had that has at least one child parent facing unless you head into larger ie bigger seats and heavier and look like two armchairs on wheels pushchair territory - the area I haven't dared go as yet. The BJCS would fit in most car boots no problem. It's flat as anything. Have I never shown you my amazing boot photo? I will find it for you in a sec. It's almost square folded and the seats are thin like the Contours. I ought to do a try before you buy rental service lol! I will keep thinking though....there might be something obscure lol

saoirse86 · 08/08/2011 12:45

I think our mum should get a new car and it'd be a lot easier to find something! Grin

aswellasyou · 08/08/2011 12:46

And cheaper!

OP posts:
Tiggywunkle · 08/08/2011 12:48

Out of interest, what would you then get if she had a bigger car?

FriggFRIGG · 08/08/2011 12:57

i had a B-Dual,i used it with the top seat rearfacing when DS was a tiny baby,TBH,even with the leg rest up,DD had No room, she could barely turn her head and really wasnt fair on her at all.in the top seat, she had no footrest so she slumped.

FriggFRIGG · 08/08/2011 13:02

Right! help

i need a buggy.

it needs to be:
£130 or under (2nd hand of course)
good pushability for my two (3yrs and 10months)
if its under 74cm thats a bonus.

any ideas, because im going round in circles here!!

Tiggywunkle · 08/08/2011 13:18

Lightweight? Off road? Buggy or proper pushchair?

Tiggywunkle · 08/08/2011 13:18

Side by side or tandem?

MonkeysPunk · 08/08/2011 13:19

My Dylans candy bar volo has arrived! It's really rainbowy and bright! The kids love it! Ds is napping and hasn't seen it yet.
The hood is fully lined which I like, and also the seat liner is black on the reverse and has lollies embroidered both sides. The raincover is a sight to behold... definately something to cheer you up if the skys are grey.
I'm not so keen on the teeny tiny wheels and complete lack of suspension. It's definately a public transport/ shopping / urban buggy. But I knew that already and its not my only pushchair now is it!
I also received my uppababy Vista snack tray now which looks both useful, nicely made and compact enough to keep in my changebag. I know it will get lots of use....for Ds finishing breakfast as we walk his sisters to school, and for him to finish his packed lunch off after preschool when we collect his sisters from school.

MonkeysPunk · 08/08/2011 13:21

A vintage twin silvercross wayfarer.

FriggFRIGG · 08/08/2011 13:22

either or tiggy!im not`fussed.under 74cm would be great though.

would be better if it was able to do some off road (i mean a park now and again)
and im 5'8 and i HATE kicking the back of buggys!

atm im thinking nipper 360 as i can take the wheels off (that makes it 74cm)

MonkeysPunk · 08/08/2011 13:23

Or a twin nipper (easiest to push). A twin landrover, or twin mb.

aswellasyou · 08/08/2011 13:39

Or a Powertwin!
