Thread II.......Oh dear

OP posts:
FriggFRIGG · 20/07/2011 08:20

Ate was the greek god of obsession.....maybe you could do something with that?? WinkGrin

aswellasyou · 20/07/2011 10:38

Guildford, you'd confuse me, never mind everyone else!WinkGrin Did you get a BC Noa or a MC one?

aswellasyou · 20/07/2011 10:41

suzie, I've just seen the time of your post.Shock I can't believe people are up for work at that time! This is coming from the person who counts feeding her baby at 8.30am as a nightfeed.Hmm

Guildfordnanny · 20/07/2011 12:34

Lol re the nme...it would be cool to cause confusion though Wink A Maxi cosi Noa, the new one handed small fold one....I went to bed at 3am yesterday....no one posts here after 11pm so it's jolly quiet here. BTW just a note for Frigg and any Xari hankerers. Someone has just reminded me about the raincover. It packs into a tiny bag, and looks like a spiral snail shell when you first use it. It looks like it has sewn edges...I cant think of the word I need - like any raincover. But there are thin plastic spines inside which gives it shape at the front. As I discovered you need to fold the raincover in a specific way or the spines can snap. If you have / buy a Mima, p,ease ensure you know which way to fold the raincover (or unfold it carefully and look) because it could be an expensive mistake like I made trying to fold the raincover as best I could in a busy street into a tiny bag! There was nowhere logically to stuff a wet raincover with a full basket - it didn't just drape over the handlebar! But amazingly even though I rolled it up soaking wet, it came out again bone dry even in the middle!!!

aswellasyou · 20/07/2011 13:07

There could be an aswellasyou, aswellasme, aswellasher, aswellashim, aswellasthem, aswellasus,... That would be fun. Smile I'd feel like a triplet/quadruplet/quintuplet/sextuplet/septuplet/... Being a twin is so common these days!

MonkeysPunk · 20/07/2011 13:11

Oh my word, I just phoned Boots to find out what to do with the swift....as MB have not responded.... they are arranging the collection of the swift and accessories (despite that the accessories are not faulty) for a full refund!
I toyed with the idea of a replacement - but as I have took the Mac out the garage to use again, and am liking it - and I also have my BJ Summit XC and Uppababy Vista - I'm happy to get a refund on the swift now - and if I want another in the future I could buy again. Kind of sad to see it go - but it's not working with the lock guard spring having unwound itself somehow.
It will save me ebaying it - and taking a loss too!
Huge thumbs up to Boots for excellent service.....better email MB now and tell them not to worry as I've returned it.....

MonkeysPunk · 20/07/2011 13:13

Guildfordnanny - how about bestmummy as a new name.... or is that taken? Grin

Guildfordnanny · 20/07/2011 13:29

Lol I like the thinking behind that one Monkey! Yay re the Swift! That's great service from Boots! Aswellasyou, I looked after newborn quadruplets once (naturally conceived and originally were quintuplets!!) and there were two sets of quads on the same housing estate! I used to do the night shifts on my own..and this was before night time TV really took off! Long nights of feeding and changing! I keep pondering names from the obscure and stupid to fluffy and girly to daft things like my daughters favourite story book title...but probably will end up with something boring as always...

aswellasyou · 20/07/2011 13:46

Guildford!Shock It's no surprise the parents needed a nanny. I bet it's really lovely having quads, although ridiculously hard. It's amazing they conceived five babies naturally but so sad that one died.Sad I can't imagine grieving one while being excited about four others.

MonkeysPunk · 20/07/2011 13:52

caboose conversion chart....for those still looking at cabooses on amazon.com

pramsgalore4 · 20/07/2011 14:01

Hi, sorry again to butt in Blush just ignore me if you want, it's just that i own both an ergo and an ultra light caboose if you want to know anything about either just ask :o

MonkeysPunk · 20/07/2011 14:18

pramsgalore4 - which is better for a 3y and 7y old - the caboose ergo or ultralight? Which has most headroom? Which can take the weights better?
Both kids are fairly light for age - it's for long (holidays) outings where my 7y gets really tired....I don't drive - so an outing could entail 2 miles walking to and from the railway station - before we even get where we're going - and she has joint hypermobility.
Also, which of the two feels the strongest?

pramsgalore4 · 20/07/2011 14:28

they both have good head room, i will get them both out and try with my 5 year old and 6 year old, as my 2 year old is very small for her age, will let you know after the school run, the ergo would hold more stuff the basket is huge

MonkeysPunk · 20/07/2011 14:58

not sure whether to get this now - or whether to get the piggyback board for my vista...?!!! Maybe I should get the board for my vista as it would be less storage and cheaper...
pramsgalore4 thanks so much for your time answering my questions. [hsmile]

Guildfordnanny · 20/07/2011 15:12

Gosh where were you pramsgalore when I needed you the other day! I have talked myself out of a Caboose now but OH seems keen on one! My issue is length...my car boot is 106cms max and looking at sone photos you can remove the hood and snack tray to make it shorter when folded. Is this true. The Ergo seems to have not great reviews - people say they prefer their ultralight. Any comments? The Ergo looks great though! I use pushchairs to shop and so big accessible baskets are a bonus. Is the Ergo the best? Is it easy to access through the seat flap? Better than the sliding seat? I like the new ultralight hood that you can cover both children and follow the sun with with. The Ergo seems to have a kind of double hood / side protection too. Do the side flaps obstruct your view? I need a good recline on the front seat. Is one better for the toddler when reclined? Which do you prefer? Again the weight limits say 15kgs? Is this realistic? Thanks :o

MonkeysPunk · 20/07/2011 15:32

guildfordnanny - had I been going to get one - I think I'd have gotten the ultralight - because it has really good recline on the front seat. (see youtube reviews)
However the Ergo looks sooo much nicer - like an extended Bee!!! I've no idea if the Ergo has a good recline or not - the Ergo looks a much more "finished" and up to date product.
The Ergo has air tyres at the back and lovely front wheels - the Ultralight looks "ye olde americano" pushchair style to me....like the old "swan stand n ride"
from a decade or two ago..but with more modern colours - but the frame styling gets zero for prettiness from me - however I think it works a lot better than it looks from memory... because I'm sure joovy bought this design off another company and slightly modernised the fabric bits - but the frame is identical.

Swan which seems to have been produced by babytrend....they must've sold the design to joovy...shame as what babytrend produce now is deemed inferior quality to the original design that joovy are now selling!

I do think the Ergo would need a seat pack set to finish it - and these were not available to the UK on amazon.com when I looked - so you'd have to find a different shop to supply these bits.
The ultralight has the parent organiser included - which is fab.

As mine need is occasional - I have instead ordered the Vista Piggyback board (even though I don't "do" buggyboards) - and damn well hope it's lovely and I don't kick it - pricey at £75 (for the only one I could find instock - at groovystyle - who said they had THREE instock - whereas everywhere else were out of stock!). I am anticipating delivery on Friday... along with the collection of the MB swift......so I guess I'll be shopping on line staying in most of Friday then. Wink

MonkeysPunk · 20/07/2011 15:41
best demo video I found - and
Guildfordnanny · 20/07/2011 16:01

Arrghhh Monkey, I want a Vista again! However that rumble seat doesn't have a footrest. I like the video with the man pushing the lady on the piggy back and they throw various car seats around. I prefer the Ergo, Pramsgalore, but am wary that the new version isn't quite as good in some ways. I don't really like the look of the old version - I think that is what is stopping me from buying one. Thanks for the seat pack tip off. I also couldn't order the ultralight raincover on Amazon.com whereas at least Mothercare includes one...what to do, what to do...the Pear went earlier...so could in theory buy without OH grumbling...coz Paypal money is mine :) But I do get a shiny Duet and a Noa next week...and still have niggles over the 15kg rumble seat limit...

pramsgalore4 · 20/07/2011 16:07

just in case anyone is still interrested i pushed my ultralight with my small 11 year old in back [about the size of a 9 year old] she had no head room although i did put the hood over her head and 2.5 year old in front very do able but heavy, put 5 year old in front with 2 year old in back felt like front wheels were locked when trying to turn very heavy, but with weight of my eldest in back and five year old in front it was better, i would not want to push any heavier than a five year old in the front [he is small about a 4 year old], the shopping basket is difficult to get to on the caboose ultralight as the seat only slides a bit, i struggled to get a packup bag and bookbags in through the sides, but you can hang loads off the handlebar just have to have it hanging off to the side as it could swing and bang the child in the back. on lifting them both into the house the ergo is a lot heavier than the ultralight so not one to take on public transport where you may have to fold, the ergo is also alot longer more like pushing a tandem, so will be more difficult than the ultralight with a heavy child in the front and the wheels are single at the front although i only go over grass so fine, the basket is huge and very easy to get to even without lifting the seat up, you can also leave the seat semi up if you have alot of shoping and child can still stand on the back, the back hood/sunshade is removeable it just unzips away from the hood my ds did not like it as he could not see my face. both are can be heavy to push depends on what weight is init, you can not compare either of them to pushing say a bugaboo, but they are nice to push, the handle on the ultralight is very up right on the ergo it is not so upright, they are built well, my ultralight has had 3 kids on it and still going strong, i will measure the ultralight with hood and snack tray off and let you know

pramsgalore4 · 20/07/2011 16:10

look at joovy.com they export and when everything is in the basket it tells you the shipping costs [although you have to have a pushchair in your basket for this to work] then you would be able to get everything you need.

pramsgalore4 · 20/07/2011 16:19

the ergo is 101cm with hood removed, the ultra light is 94cm with hood and tray removed, the ergo is a much nicer looking pushchair , while they are both in my hallway any other questions :o

MonkeysPunk · 20/07/2011 16:24

guildfordnanny I haven't seen the video you mention where the man pushes the lady on the piggyback - please link!!!! Shock
You NEED a vista - www.letsgostrolling.com will ship a rumble seat to the UK total inc shipping £123 for the rumble seat. Not sure what the UK price will be and when they're out - have emailed uppababy uk to find out.
The rumble seat has a "footrest" attached to it - try to find a pic of the rumble on it's own - although I'm not sure if this seat is suitable.
You can put heaviest kid in front seat - and lightest in rear seat.... when heaviest kid is not on piggyback or walking...
You won't believe how easy the vista is to push! I'm So'ton area if you wish to come for a play one day.. Wink

MonkeysPunk · 20/07/2011 16:29

joovy shipping costs are vastly more than amazon.com! Shock over $175 for the shipping on joovy ergo and seat pad set [insert eyes popping out of head emoticon here]!!!

Guildfordnanny · 20/07/2011 16:29

Ooohh so both would fit. Arrghhh honestly truly which would you keep if you had to keep only one? I should say I am used to pushing tandems, and really would want to take it on all day trips to shopping malls on clothes and present buying trips where I can't expect DD to walk all day. Baby would want to nap at some point. I am a sucker for looks though... Does the plastic seat / handles make much difference on the Ergo. I do, do, do need to carry small bags but lots of them and be able to stuff bags under say at the till. Also does either look less tandem like ie more like a single? I don't want to o myself out of a +one though....

Guildfordnanny · 20/07/2011 16:32

What I was saying though Monkey is that the rumble seat you linked to in part two doesnt have the footrest. What is putting me off the Vista is the height. I like small neat pushchairs, even as a tandem...it looks very very like a cross between the B-Dual and Hauck Duette. I will find the video now. Thanks re the Joovy shipping costs. That's a lot!
