It went down the stairs ok but the brake does scratch the front part of the step and i didn't try it with DD in it...Handle isn't that high, 85cm to 102cm but it feels a lot higher than that though...Feels higher than my Quest from what i remember.

aswellasyou · 10/06/2011 19:32

Oh and don't worry about fingers getting trapped, just make sure you check the batch number if it was made in 2009 before buying one. Mine couldn't trap a child's finger at all.

ToysRLuv · 10/06/2011 19:33

I know, it's great. Thanks Suzie! Any other pushchairs that are similar and I should look into? Otherwise I'm just going to get the Halo or the Nuna.. The Nuna looks great (apart from the "no ground clearance").

aswellasyou · 10/06/2011 19:38

To be honest, you can get either/both really cheaply and if you don't like it just sell it on!Smile

ToysRLuv · 10/06/2011 19:57

I know.. I just hate selling stuff on e-Bay.. I think i will go with the Nuna. Seems to tick more boxes. :) Thanks Suzie and aswellasyou!

Guildfordnanny · 10/06/2011 20:00

The Nuna looks great...I was checking them out earlier. Interesting about the Contours price going up and down. I will keep watching it. The red hasn't changed much at all - just the brown. Aswellas - is the Contours any good? I didn't know you had one!! Honey - I love that bike! One for when mine are a bit older!

aswellasyou · 10/06/2011 20:06

I haven't got one, I just keep looking at them and pretending I might get one some day. I've been looking at it for about 2 months or so and the Amazon prices have varied massively.

FriggFRIGG · 10/06/2011 21:03

Yes and no FriggFRIGG. Reading between the lines the Duet I think is on it's way....there are moves afoot (eg MB FB page) and from other sources that things will start to happen soon. Certainly there seem to be no further delays. HOWEVER they have kind of referred to the +One too and a look on the MB site just a few minutes ago threw up the stats for the +One (109cm stand height, 63cm wide - same as the Duet?) and given my children are heading over the age of one, I may well swap allegiance and hedge my bets on a +One. But it's too early to say that right now. I hope to find out more at MB HQ in a few days time.....Given I have been debating between Urban Jungle and Swift, at least the +One will still look like a single - all be it a long one with a tall hood! The only thing I don't like is the massive gap in the hood at the back (I hope MB provide some covering especially when a newborn is in board). The other thing I hope MB have addressed is the non recline facility for a 6-12/18 month old between lie flat and sleeping upright. I know I would want my baby in the back otherwise toddler will be constantly kicking underneath the seat / pulling hair! There was a recline on the front seat - minimal - but it would crush the child behinds legs! I need to start selling some pushchairs....

Guildfordnanny · 10/06/2011 21:22

I don't know if that made sense lol. When I saw the +One there is the front seat with minimal recline. The back seat has either a bolt upright seat (resting on a bar so no way to make a recline unless the bar was moved) with a fabric footwell that is large and goes right underneath the front seat. The back seat pad removes and lies flat for a newborn to lie on. But once the newborn grows out of lying flat ie 6 months, then there is nowhere that I would consider putting a small baby. My ten month old at present couldn't stay bolt upright for several hours.

FriggFRIGG · 10/06/2011 21:27

i had started to look at the +one as well, not sure about it though,im not sure the babycould see out if he was at the back, and yetDD would probably pull hair/kick him if he was in the front, also dont like the gap at the back (always anoyed me with the P&T's ive had) and the recline is an issue too,i hate to see their little heads wobbling about when they sleep! also, how do you get the child at the back out ?? can it be done whilst the child at the front is in the seat,or do you have to unload them and swap them around everytime one of them wants to walk/be carried???

OP posts:
Guildfordnanny · 10/06/2011 21:40

Bear in mind I have only seen the prototype and a lot can happen before launch. But from what I saw I am not sure the baby would be able to see out but the seat pad does make the back seat an inch or two higher. But there is a lot more room that there looks in the back. The +One was really a big of a monster lengthwise. I have been trying to work out what stand fold would equate to opened? We may need to get measuring an open Urban Jungle and putting the measurement next to the stand fold measurement to see the difference. (has anyone got an UJ or know the open length?). It would be no problem to remove the back child. The feet go through a hole in the floor into a footwell thing. Whether weight / balance requires say one child to always be in one seat to prevent tipping I don't know but the weight of the children will be fairly central and I couldn't see the +one tipping - it seemed solid! The lack of a decent recline is a major issue and I do twitch when I see people asking whether the +one will arrive in time for their newborn. I really really really really really REALLY hope MB have found a way to recline the back seat. Otherwise there will be some frustrated parents with six month olds wondering what to do with them until their baby is a toddler! TBH I don't know if my baby will be old enough IMHO for the front or back seat by the time it comes out without more than the tiny recline we saw. The +One was always my no1 choice TBH between that and the Duet but the wheelbase looked huge and like we have said I hate huge gaps at the back of hoods in an English winter. But the +One is certainly a great two toddler option...much better set up than the Verve...which now needs Ebaying to pay for a Duet and / or +One!

Guildfordnanny · 10/06/2011 21:41

Sorry I meant to say the baby won't be able to see out of the front but I am sure there is a side view.

Guildfordnanny · 10/06/2011 21:44

Ok I answered my own question. The UJ is 103.5cms when folded. +One photos here

FriggFRIGG · 10/06/2011 21:45

hmmm, i think there are some major issues there for me....
Duet is the best option here i reckon...although i love the thought of the + one,in reality im not convinced it will work out...

OP posts:
Guildfordnanny · 10/06/2011 21:53

I have been studying the photos and hoping that the issues are ironed out. A lovely piece of fabric on the back of the hood would help to start with to keep out the winter winds (but front child is still exposed but so would be a walking toddler). I remember at the time pondering how you could make the back seat recline and you couldn't without moving the bar which the back seat pad actually rests on. There isn't a photo but the set pad moves back from newborn mode revealing the footwell hole. The back of the seat pad is the crease half way down, which folds up to create the back rest. The top of the seat then leant on the bar at the back ie the bar gives the support.

aswellasyou · 11/06/2011 20:05

I saw a lovely tandem pushchair today but I couldn't quite see what it was. I was with my Aunt and she wasn't moving quickly enough for me to follow them. I'm pretty sure it was a Baby Jogger though. It had a black chassis with a purple seat unit at the top with a purple carrycot underneath. Please tell me what it is, it's driving me crazy! I want to look it up and pretend I'm going to buy it!Grin

aswellasyou · 11/06/2011 20:13

I think it must have actually been a B Dual. I didn't realise the bottom could be like a carrycot. It was so nic and I'd never looked at them before with any real interest.

FriggFRIGG · 11/06/2011 20:23

yes, sounds like a new B-Dual too me Smile

With a black chassis and the purple it sounds like a B-Dual. The lower seat has a three position recline but then two clips release the fabric at the bottom to make a carrycot type area ie with raised sides. I keep telling people how fabulous the B-Dual is because it ticks all my boxes for a good tandem. My only niggle is my eldest doesn't look comfy in the upper seat - I think a lack of a footrest doesn't help as she kind of hangs. It is better for her when I lift the calf rest up to horizontal and she lies her feet out in front. But it's a fab tandem and not bank breaking either. I am on a campaign to change perceptions :) because everyone says it is huge but it's not! It's the same height and SHORTER than my Phil&Teds. It has bags of room for the lower child and still has space for shopping. It pushes easily and in a straight line with two older children, goes up kerbs, take a car seat, carrycot, soft cot and works for twins :) IMHO the best all round tandem on the market at present.

Guildfordnanny · 11/06/2011 20:39

Just as an aside we finally bought my sons first birthday pressie today. We got him a Puky Ceety We were going to get a Smart Trike but for lots of reasons thought this was better / would last longer although the price was a bit ouch but Puky resells well. But I wanted to draw attention to the fact it's being marketed as a toy but also a pushchair replacement with a huge net type shopping basket, pushchair type handle etc. I don't know whether it will be too big for my son but he's tall and it says 80cms but I thought it looked like a great idea. It will keep hubby fit and out of my way pushing son on that whilst DD scooters or bikes!
