I know what you mean Suzie. The handle on the BJCM, for example, is quite high (even for me).. Boo for fixed handles! Why not make telescopic ones? it's so easy! Boo, boo and boo!

Well, at least I am now set on the Zapp for public transport, etc. and am definitely keeping my trusty Vigour, because it just works (even if it's not a swanky MB Swift..).

suzie38 · 07/06/2011 20:25

I personally prefer the pivot handles rather than telescopic, like on the Vigour...Someone's most likely buying one of my Vigour 4+ on Thursday.

suzie38 · 07/06/2011 20:26

I was going to get a BJCM until i realised how tall the handle was...The Elite would suit me better but got another contender now.

Guildfordnanny · 07/06/2011 23:20

LOL Suzie....Hubby and I had a long discussion about whether we got DD the Zapp with car seat etc or the tandem version. I voted Tandem and OH voted the car seat one as it was half the price. However as soon as we got it DD spent ages trying to balance the seat underneath the car seat in tandem style and so OH relented and she now has both! We have something fun to do with this for BB but I need time to sort it out!

aswellasyou · 08/06/2011 22:50

I got my Gecko. The covers are in amazing condition. I've just given it a bath! Grin The woman told me the wheels don't come off. I thought she was mistaken but I didn't try them at the time and now I've taken them off no problem. Do other people not take wheels off pushchairs? Saoirse boot's always full of random wheels.
However, I can't for the life of me remember how to put it up properly! I've got it as far as looking like it's up but it hasn't quite gone far enough to click into place. I'll have more of a look later or in the morning but if anyone knows and wants to save me a headache I'll be very grateful. Smile

Guildfordnanny · 08/06/2011 23:09

Does it not click into place when you put the seat on? Or are you missing the knack ie you need to hold (or is it slide?) the little white button on the handlebar in as you open? Or maybe I dont have a clue without seeing it?!! Confused

aswellasyou · 08/06/2011 23:18

Now I'm not sure without looking at it. I'm feeding at the moment but I'll get it out of the bath when she's finished.

FriggFRIGG · 08/06/2011 23:20

i feel like a total shit, someone hit me around the head please. Sad

aswellasyou · 08/06/2011 23:30

What's going on Frigg?
I managed to put up the Gecko but I don't know what I did differently. Confused

FriggFRIGG · 08/06/2011 23:41

(thats how i felt about the frog...nevr knew what i was doing, sometimes it worked, sometimes it didnt Confused

i sold a buggyboard to a lady on here,i thought it could get it posted to her by friday, but i cant Sad i feel fucking terrible.
i wanted to send it yesterday but DD was being, umm, difficult and my mum offered me a lift to the post office for today,so i figured id pay for next day delivery and it would make it to her...but the farking PO only do 3-5working days for heavy items,so i tried to arrange a courier, but no one can do it in time.shit.shit,im such a shit.

OP posts:
aswellasyou · 09/06/2011 00:02

No you're not Frigg! Have you told the person you've sold it to about the problems sending it? If it was me you'd sold it to, I'd understand that sometimes things don't go according to plan when you have a child! It's not the end of the world I'm sure. At least she can't leave you negative feedback. Grin
I'm going to bed now, but stop worrying about it!

Guildfordnanny · 09/06/2011 01:46

I remember having played with the Chameleon many times before my new baby arrived and always managing to put the pushchair up, going on my first ever outing and standing like a lemon in a busy street not able to put it up. I had to call hubby to come and help. When I got home it was all to do with the little white button (on the RH side) because you have to hold it in or slide it or whatever! Try again and see if that is what worked (I am assuming that the Gecko has the same button!)

FriggFRIGG · 09/06/2011 08:23

yes i told, her, and this morning she has replyed and been really lovely about it. Smile

still feel guilty about it though....

Someone told me last night that the pushchair I have been searching for to import is coming to the UK soon :) It's the Steelcraft ie Britax Agile. It's like the BJCM :)

aswellasyou · 09/06/2011 13:05

See Frigg, I knew she'd be ok about it! Smile
Guildford, the Agile looks like they just stole the drawings of the BJCM! Shock You've scared me into practising putting the Gecko up and down! i don't want to look stupid. The pushy slidey things are very similar to the ones on my Halo so I feel like I was doing them the right way before but maybe I just wasn't sliding them far enough.

ToysRLuv · 09/06/2011 15:19

Yes, that Steelcraft buggy looks exactly like the BJCM! Very smart.. Wonder what the price will be.

Got a Zapp seat from E-bay. Now anxiously waiting for it. I love my Zapp Xtra, although the two part fold is annoying and you really cannot hang almost any shopping on the handles (I'm used to hanging like 4 full bags on clips on the Vigour.. not adivisable, I know, but very very handy!). Also cannot balance my shopping basket on the handle and hood like I do with the Vigour. How do you do your shopping when out with a Zapp? I just carry the basket in one hand and push the buggy with the other. Very uncomfy with a full basket :( I could just shop online, but there is a big Waitrose just round the corner, so inevitably end up there almost every day.

DS has now been sleeping for most of the day. Seemed very grumpy when he got up from his nap, then had lunch and went back to bed.. :o

ToysRLuv · 09/06/2011 15:20

Umm that emoticon went a bit wrong.. was supposed to be this: Shock

Guildfordnanny · 09/06/2011 15:28

Yay for the Zapp seat! I pimped up my Zapp big time and could get lots of shopping on! I had the underneath basket that I stacked well with milk, cans etc ie heavy stuff. But I spent a small fortune on a wedge shaped bag to go on the back from EBay with a removable inner - but it doesn't fit the Xtra because there is nothing to stop it sliding down the frame - the seat covers stop it on the normal Zapp. I could load lots into that too, again with the heavy stuff at the bottom.
I have mailed Britax but my contact is away for two weeks so I have just found out. I will try a different route. The front of the Agile looks different to the City Mini but the theory almost the same re the fold. If I remember correctly it's not a true one handed food though. You have to release a button as well?

Guildfordnanny · 09/06/2011 15:30

No sign of the Contours either - I hate that 48 hour delivery doesn't mean 48 hours but really 72 hours from a morning pick up Hmm

ToysRLuv · 09/06/2011 15:41

GN: I got that wedge bag, as well (I do like my buggy accessories :) ). I've just put it round the handles, instead of round the frame, so works ok. But that was full of baby essentials plus other stuff and the basket was full of rain cover and pine cones :P

I remember that someone here had a Silvercross Halo? Are they any good? Is the seat more upright than on the BJCM? They are going pretty cheap on e-bay..

aswellasyou · 09/06/2011 18:52

I've got a Halo. I do really like it in that it's got a nice big comfy seat, it can easily recline to any position and it's a bit different. The seat does go completely upright but you have to pull quite hard on the strap. The wheels aren't good for rough ground though and the shopping 'basket' is flat with a load of elastic straps. I put the raincover and things like coats and books down there. I got mine with all the accessories so I have a pram bag that attaches underneath the bum. The bag's got a cool bag type pouch that you can put food in and then get all the nappies/wipes/spare clothes/etc in the main part. And then I use a handbag with a long strap to stretch across the handlebar and I have had pram hooks on the handlebar but they've been lost at some point. It can carry a lot of stuff on the handlebar. I don't know if the hood would take a basket because I always just use a trolley.

Be warned though that there was a product recall on a few batches of Halos made in 2009 because the hinge was getting worn down with use. I should sell mine now that I have a Gecko and my daughter doesn't need the car seat anymore, but I'm reluctant to because it's so comfy especially with the babynest in it.

I didn't mean to write such a long post about it. Blush

ToysRLuv · 09/06/2011 20:24

Thanks, aswellasyou!

It does look good, and the handle is a bit higher than on most buggies. I have to think about it. Really should go and look at prams in person a lot more before I buy stuff, but as we don't have a car, and it's a bit of a hike to John Lewis, I don't. I doubt that they would have the Halo, though.

suzie38 · 09/06/2011 20:33

No, John Lewis don't sell the Halo...Think they only sell the Pop as far as Silver Cross go.

aswellasyou · 09/06/2011 20:46

JL had the Surf in a couple of weeks ago. Mothercare used to sell the Halo but it's being sold off now. I think the recall gave it a bad name and it became really unpopular. I imagine most places will have just sold off their stock and moved onto the next pushchair.

Guildfordnanny · 09/06/2011 20:49

Lol I bought one those cheap Halos earlier! For what was it...£60-70 I thought it was worth a punt. They are selling for more than that second hand. I can't believe with that many to sell that they are all damaged??
