Lol my daughter trained herself at Easter. We thought she was nowhere near ready but it was amazing what one pair of pants and some stickers could do! I don't think hubby seriously thought I would buy the Contours. I think he is in for a shock when it arrives. But it's drained my Paypal account so something will have to go on EBay soon. I keep trying to love my Verve but it's just not happening....but then I look at the huge seats and wonder if it would last us longer than anything else? But then I would be on a Swift plus freerider by that point?? And the Duet in between?

ToysRLuv · 06/06/2011 21:32

Ladies, I'm wondering whether I should buy another pushchair to take into plane as hand baggage (have a trip with a 5 hour stop over at an airport late at night, so could use something DS can sleep in). What would be the best thing to get? I'm thinking about getting the regular Zapp, but as I already have a Zapp Xtra it seems a bit of a funny thing to do. Also, obviously, it does not recline, so maybe not suitable for the purpose.. :/

Guildfordnanny · 06/06/2011 21:58

I had both Zapps for different reasons. But why not just buy the fabric and slide it into your Xtra frame? It cost me £20 for new fabric on EBay. My daughter used to sleep well in the Zapp even though it was upright. The seat harness pads are nicely padded and for a few hours it wouldn't matter IMHO.

Guildfordnanny · 06/06/2011 23:17

Yes it should be :)
Basically the Zapp chassis whether an Xtra or a normal one is exactly the same. That is why you can turn an Xtra into a normal Zapp (and sell the seat should you wish) or turn a normal Zapp into an Xtra by removing the fabric and adding the second seat.
If you look at your Xtra chassis you will see the grooves running down the edge. When you get the fabric you just need to feed the fabric onto the grooves using the plastic guiders on the fabric. If I remember correctly it is easier to do with the chassis slightly folded. It can be either really simple or a bit awkward!
The only thing I am not sure about, is if the hood is the same on both Zapps. I think it will be, but you may need to have a good look.

ToysRLuv · 07/06/2011 00:54

For some reason, ever thought it would be the same chassis.. That's handy! Thanks for the tips!

i have just bought a joovy ergo, can not wait for it to arrive, already have a joovy caboose which i imported a few years ago love hate relation, once i got used to pushing it i loved it, but it is easier if you are over 5 foot, it has been used on and off since i bought it and have recently got it back out and am using it with my 2 year old and 5 year old ( has asd if you were wondering why in a pushchair ) he loves it as can stand up sit down hide from people all without me stopping, so when i saw the ergo ( new improved version ) just had to have it, i have over the years had over 50 pushchairs everything from stokke, bugaboo, mountain buggy, phil and teds the list gos on, singles and doubles, dont know what i will do when the kids are too big, although i also have wagons 3 of and a tricycle to carry the kids, i have to say i did pop into mothercare the otherday and did not like any of the pushchairs they had on show lol

Guildfordnanny · 07/06/2011 16:21

I would much rather have a Joovy or similar to a buggy board. Someone as telling me earlier that Mothercare want to shut a load of stores and move online?? I couldn't believe that....does anyone know? Mothercare is one of those delicious hands on shops for choosing new baby kit. Although I do admit the pushchair range isn't the best. But Mamas and Papas seem to be picking up the more alternative brands like Stokke and Bugaboo. I know where we live Mothercare and Mamas and Papas are right next door.

pramsgalore4 · 07/06/2011 16:29

mothercare are closing their high street stores but keeping their out of town stores, i loved my stokke at first no one had one, but now mothercare and the likes are selling them they are becoming more popular, i also had a bugaboo and the phil & teds before they were so popular, i hate to be the same pushing round the same as everyone else thats just boring, have looked at the joovy scooter as i want accessories for the ergo dont like the colours though a bit bright but hey you would stand out in a crowd lol

Guildfordnanny · 07/06/2011 16:52

What does a pushchairaholic do when their children are grown up? Bikes don't seem to have the same appeal Hmm

Guildfordnanny · 07/06/2011 16:54

Thanks re Mothercare BTW - that makes sense. I never watch the news! I need to check the Joovy Scooter out.

suzie38 · 07/06/2011 17:05

Well i've already bought my DD 11 pushchairs for her toys!!! I'm thinking of dolls houses or picking my scrapbooking hobby back up again.

pramsgalore4 · 07/06/2011 17:11

shoes, clothes, i dont know i will be lost without a pushchair, what will i do with my hands lol omg need more kids ( i think not ) lol. i have pushed a pushchair for 11 years only prob 2 years to go!!!

aswellasyou · 07/06/2011 18:18

I always have an addiction of some sort. This is just my current one alongside car seats. There's been shoes, handbags, underwear, vintage jewellery and vintage clothes so far. I love researching things and making databases lists about them. I did this when I was looking for a flat too. I'm sure there's a database making job out there I'd love! Grin

Anyway, I came on to ask if Cameleon tailored fabrics will fit on a Gecko. And if they do, which colour do you think would go best with the green? Except green of course.

Guildfordnanny · 07/06/2011 18:26

Which is the best child's pushchair, Suzie?
I would have thought Chameleon fabrics would fit a Gecko. I thought the only real difference was the bumper bar and basket size??

ToysRLuv · 07/06/2011 18:28

Damn, damn, damn. The handle height on the Phil and Teds Smart, which arrived today, is very low. Very uncomfortable. And I'm not even that tall. The Zapp handles are a bit low as well, but tolerable. Now, I will have to sell the Smart on, although it was comfy for DS. Anyone want a newish Smart? Smile

GN: Bid on a Zapp seat online. I think that will be good for holidays. Still not looking forward to that nightmare journey in August Confused Maybe I should just stay in one place until DS has outgrown naps and can handle a late night Hmm

Guildfordnanny · 07/06/2011 18:40

Oohhh I thought the Smart was meantto be good. I really fancied one but the Zapp handles are too low for me. Hope you win the Zapp seat. I need to decide whether to swap my set or not. Strawberry isn't the best colour for a boy!

aswellasyou · 07/06/2011 18:47

I didn't realise the Smart had low handles. I'd considered buying one once. I'm glad I didn't now.
I thought the fabrics would fit a Gecko but I'm being a bit paranoid about it!

ToysRLuv · 07/06/2011 18:53

If by strawberry you mean pink, then I see your point :) I was thinking whether I could handle getting a pink seating unit for the Zapp (I have a DS) if it was cheaper than the others. In the end I though that I probably couldn't. It would feel a bit strange.. I'm going for a sort of orangey red.

I'm so gutted about the Smart. Now I have to sell it and it's such a pain in the bum. I bet you lot have sold a few pushchairs in your time - what courier should I use to ship the Smart, or do I just lug it into the post office? I'm so clueless. Thinking about taking the Chicco LiteWay and The Graco Mirage to a charity shop to avoid having to polish them up, take photos, faff around getting them on Ebay and then posting them - all for pennies. Confused

Why do pushchair manufacturers think that everyone is about 5' 2? Annoying!!!!

pramsgalore4 · 07/06/2011 18:53

i think the fabrics are just a bit bigger but know people have put them on a gecko sand would look good

Guildfordnanny · 07/06/2011 19:09

Strawberry is a pinky red. I use Parcels2go for sending parcels. If you get your parcel dimensions and weight then you can play around with the costs of different couriers and time scales. Just factor in the VAT and any insurance.

suzie38 · 07/06/2011 19:17

Now i am 5'2" and i think a lot of fixed handles are too high...I'd love a Ryder but i know i'd hate pushing it as i love a super low handle...I had a Smart and the handles were the right height, just not in one piece which i find easier...DD loved the Smart...It was our park buggy, not really suitable as a main buggy in my opinion...Cameleon fabrics will fit though i'm not 100% but the Gecko seat might be a tad narrower.

suzie38 · 07/06/2011 19:19

As to dolly pushchairs Bayer Chic 2000 have some fantastic ones...DD has two at the moment...For Christmas she's having a Zapp, that has a car seat, carrycot and regular seat...Only downside is the white and bright pink color scheme.
