Well my ultimate plan is keeping the Donkey, which is supposed to be ok in the snow though lose snow may compact in the front wheels but i know it's narrower than a Vigour but the handle makes it look too huge to fit on a bus...Get a Strawberry when they come out...Still would like a Fusio as it's a compact rear facer...Then a Swift or similar for 100% snow use...All of those free stand and fold in one piece which i like...To be honest i very rarely rear face DD because she prefers facing the world but DH is severely deaf so thinking rear facers may be advantageous once DD wants to have proper conversations...A frog or Cameleon with snow wheels are great in the snow and of course rear face...Or a proper pram if your LO in 18 months or younger but obviously no good on buses.

suzie38 · 02/06/2011 23:05

GN i thought the fold looked really difficult...But is it not???

Guildfordnanny · 02/06/2011 23:13

Hmm...its not the most straight forward...I think it needs a bit of practice but both hubby and I have done it this afternoon without help, which is pretty good for the first time for a new pushchair. There are several steps though.

Honeydragon · 02/06/2011 23:30

I only use rf in wind and snow as I can't convince dd that a raincover won't kill her Hmm

suzie38 · 03/06/2011 05:55

Ditto^^^ It's the same with my DD though she's mellowing on old age Smile

MonkeysPunk · 03/06/2011 09:06

Is the Jogger Twister available in the UK yet? And the Mamaboard? I must say there are some very exciting innovations going on pushchair-wise at the moment.

It's too bad that my "baby" is almost 3y...and DH is not wishing to have more children.....plus I just reached the big 40 (shhhh) - so it's not looking too likely that we'd have any more children...... Sad

I think I need to aquire a lame dog.....or one of those "re-born" dolls! Wink

MonkeysPunk · 03/06/2011 09:09

PS - The Swift is apparently dispatched now - so hoping for delivery today. Grin I also found a 10% code for Mothercare in a booklet that came with my Prima Magazine last night (xmas present subscription that I rarely get around to reading!) - so I'll post that later - might be good for someone as Mothercare have just offered 10% off buggies again - so somebody could get double discount possibly (if it works at checkout!).... Grin

MonkeysPunk · 03/06/2011 09:40

Anyone tried these lights out on your buggies/prams? www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=knog&x=0&y=0
I'm wondering if they will be a good fit on our swift or BJ Summit
I already have some "Tyre Flies" from boots - (flashing lights that screw onto the wheels where the dust cap fits) - but they only last a few weeks before the batteries need replacing (motion activivated - so they flash day or night).
We have some dark unlit areas to walk in the winter - and a light fitted to the buggy would be better than trying to hold the torch - although I could get one of those "head mounted" camping torches I suppose - and one for DS - he'd think that was really fun!

MonkeysPunk · 03/06/2011 09:43

Honeydragon - the clippasafe poncho works on a lot of different buggies - your dd might decide as it's more "anorak" like - it's less scary than the plastic coverall!

I'm pleased the swift raincover seems to have a zip open door - so maybe ds will find that acceptable - he never really liked raincovers much either - but sometimes they're the most practical option. With siblings at school to drop off and collect just staying indoors in bad weather isn't an option!

saoirse86 · 03/06/2011 10:09

MS definitely get a reborn doll. Lame dogs gets old and die and then you'll be back at square one. Reborn dolls never get old! Wink

That new pushchair looks really nice. I much prefer small and chunky!

Guildfordnanny · 03/06/2011 10:29

Yes the Twinner Twist Duo and the single one can be bought now. I would need to check re the Mamaboard and what it fits. I saw some lights you hang onto your pushchair (loop at the top) in a catalogue only this week. Was it JoJoMamanBebe? If I spot them again then I will let you know. There are some fab pushchairs around this year. One of the children I used to look after was born when dad was 49. So plenty of time for more ;)

MonkeysPunk · 03/06/2011 11:52

Hmmm - though the Dad was 49 - how old was the mum?

I had a miscarriage last sept (at 10 weeks - but missed miscarriage) so we should have had a new baby at the beginning of April.....sigh (although it was a "surprise" pregnancy - so DH was happy to keep, but won't intentionally create more children....). I live in hope of another "surprise", but to be honest I'm a bit prone to MC - 50% of the time it seems.... although I can't complain I'm soooo lucky to have the 4 dc's we do have. Smile Smile Smile Smile

I seriously might get a reborn doll one day....Blush, although I'm sure my husband and children will think I need "help" if I start putting it in a car seat and wheeling it around on weekend outings!!!

I'd love to foster but our house is not large enough I think (3 bed with loft conversion giving extra 2 bedrooms - so 5, but not the size of a 5 bed house) - though if we had another of our own children - the girls would share in order to free up another room - and I keep the "babies" in our room until at least 1y old anyway.

Right, I'd better stop wasting DS's nap time at the computer and start on the ironing pile now.....Brew Biscuit

Guildfordnanny · 03/06/2011 11:57

The mum was a bit younger! I think 39.

saoirse86 · 03/06/2011 12:00

Our mum's friend had a surprise pregnancy at 44. I think there were a few glasses of wine involved though! Wink

MonkeysPunk · 03/06/2011 14:45

Good plan. Must get husband drunk more often to increase our chances of a surprise!
Swift has arrived. I'm impressed. Except for adjusting harness height was hell. Had to completely remove seat and insert arm up seat back. That was a tight fit. Then blindly try to unthread and rethread through layers of fabric and plastic.
Much sweating and cursing needed. It was like a calf birthing scene from "All creatures Great and Small" ...
Still playing, hope to take on a test run if grumpy boy will get in... the maclaren liners an excellent fit.

suzie38 · 03/06/2011 16:20

That's great you've got it...Think i'll go ahead and order one...I've got a liner for my Nuna that might fit ok in the Swift...I never harness DD in, hence my love of bumper bars...If it's a faff i could just use my vintage Mothercare harness/reins.

MonkeysPunk · 03/06/2011 17:07

cool idea to use alternative reins... wish I'd thought of that! Blush
I set the harness to highest setting - even though he only needs the middle one now really, because I do NOT want to have to bugger about with that again. I do have chunky arms and fat fingers mind you - so hence the problem of doing them.
The harness is really generous in size - I'm sure you could strap a baby elephant in and still have room to adjust!

I'm really pleased with the swift because it's got enough growing room for ds - and it's a really neat size (like the breeze) for travelling, and also for every day use where space can be an issue.

It's really well made, definitely looks durable - and should have decent resale value.

I wish the courier would hurry up and bring the uv shade and raincover - they sent them seperately but they're still meant to come today.....

suzie38 · 03/06/2011 17:42

I had a good play in Toys r' Us today without any interferring staff...Decided the Fusio is pants...It's so heavy to push even without a child sitting in it...Next door to it was an Oyster, felt so light to push, though not as light as Solas/Glides as i tried that in a pram shop a few months ago as both were side by side...But i don't like any of the M&P colorways...Folded dimensions according to the labels indicates the Oyster is small and compact...Far better than the Fusio...The hood on the Toys r' Us edition felt flimsy so will check out an Oyster Oyster next week as i'm sure the hood i tried before was a lot better...I'll buy a second hand Oyster to tide me over until the Strawberry appears...Love the color packs plus you can buy air tyres and snack trays...Think the Flip It might be needing a new home.

ToysRLuv · 03/06/2011 19:05

The Zapp Xtra came today. So easy to push, although handles could be a tad higher (or adjustable). Pleased with the purchase! DS seems to like it too. He wanted to sit and chill in it in the garden :) . DS HATES raincovers and the clippasafe pocho thing. I wish it had somekind of arms, as not having "use" of his hands is probably the worst thing about it in his mind. I have given up, and now just carry a puddle suit with me in case of sudden torrential rain.

ToysRLuv · 03/06/2011 19:19

It's annoying, though, how the Zapp Xtra does not fold in one piece. A bit useless for buses. Well, it's a good excuse for that P&T Smart I've bid on..

I love the colour choices in the Oyster. Too bad more pushchairs do not do them.. Has anyone seen the Missoni Bee? www.bugaboo.com/252 I think you need to look like that woman next to it to pull it off. With me it would just look extremely silly.. :P

ToysRLuv · 03/06/2011 19:19

Oh, here it is properly:

www.bugaboo.com/252

suzie38 · 03/06/2011 19:25

Yes i saw that when it was reveiled mysteriously on Facebook...I don't mind the Cameleon version but wouldn't like the Bee version.

saoirse86 · 03/06/2011 19:25

suzie I have an Oyster. I really like it and I think I was quite lucky choosing that one as I knew nothing about pushchairs at the time. All I knew was that I wanted to get rid of my Buzz.
I don't actually think the fold is that small. If you have the seat on forward facing it's not too bad, but I prefer it parent facing and the fold is really long or you have to separate the seat and chassis. It's fine in my huge car boot but not good in normal boots. You end up having to mess about separating it. But I suppose it's not that big a deal.
The other thing I don't like is that the front wheels aren't great for kerbs. I find I have to attack kerbs at an angle. If I go straight on I get stuck! Confused
But that's all I don't like about it.
Did you try your DD in it with the hood? Because it comes down really far.

I saw it today here for £269 in the raspberry plush version.

suzie38 · 03/06/2011 19:31

Well don't think i'd be putting the hood up unless it's raining or a rare sleep in it...Does your hood fold back ok...The one in Toys r' Us wouldn't properly, don't think the fabrics on their hood is as good as the regular ones...Plus their seat back wouldn't stay upright, though it's probaby been mishandled a lot...Seen one on ebay, not too far away...The seller bought some of my custom Bee items a while back...Yes i'm aware that the front wheels can be sensitive...But it won't get used loads though...I'm not keen on the shiny frame on the Plush model...There was one in the pram shop near me.

saoirse86 · 03/06/2011 19:37

The hood's a bit weird. You have to do the zip up on it, then push it back quite hard so it clicks on both sides. Then there are flappy velcro bits to hold it back.

I don't have problems with the seat but it's not completely upright in it's upright position IYSWIM. It's still a tiny bit reclined.

I wouldn't want to put you off because I do really like mine.

We were going to tell you that yesterday we saw a vintage mothercare pram in a charity shop. It was red corduroy and looked late 70's/early 80's. It was beauuutiful but we couldn't justify buying it just for that reason! Sad
