We used to be a one pushchair household! I swore that after pushing other peoples pushchairs for so many years that I would get the right one first time...and I did...and then the tandems started! Hubby used to be impossible to get a pushchair out of but he's as nearly as bad as me now!

FriggFRIGG · 01/06/2011 18:03

im sorry guys....its terrible isnt it....i want a different buggy every day DP just pulls this face---> Hmm and then glazes over when i mention the word 'buggy'
he refuses to even learn how to fold them now as theyre gone to fast Blush

i dooo like my urban though, its purty Grin

How? Sideways? I have been wondering whether having two children so close together side by side would be an issue with the Duet...its one reason the ever so slight recline of the MB's may be useful ie keeping the children separate - although it doesn't sound like it works with yours! I have had problems trying to explain to my 2 year old that her baby brother isn't purposely kicking under her seat in the Kobi! It's just in the right place for a baby playing with its feet to kick. She was annoyed with him yesterday!

suzie38 · 01/06/2011 19:07

aswellasyou what car seat did you buy??? I belong to the Boots Parents Club...How do i get the extra points??? On screen it just shows up as 3200 points...I like the idea of Boots as i can pick it up myself rather than worrying it won't get delivered because i'm out a lot...Usually have ebay things go to my parents as both are retired, but buggies are a no no because my mum gets cross if i buy a new one!!!

FriggFRIGG · 01/06/2011 19:08

Grin @the littley getting his own backGrin

yep,its just like they're sat next to each other nothing stopping them attacking each other, even though DS is quite a bit more reclined than DD.
TBH i thought the recline would keep them apart, but it doesnt at all .
the last time i used a SBS DS was a NB in a cocoon,so it wasnt an issue....

it was quite cute when she handed him his bread stick back, sang him 'the grand old duke of york' and showed him hers drawings (she draws in the buggy with this highly recommended!)
less cute when she poked him in the eye, called him "poo poo Arlo!" and then mimicked his screams in an incredibly annoying whingey voice.

Just cancelled swift order as it wasn't actually in stock, despite the website indicating it was. I was told possibly they'd be able to send it end of next week, but. Winstanleys reckoned the flint wasn't available til July. I'll try oxford pram center and see if its really in stock there tomorrow.. boo. A whole day wasted. Me dithering, then no stock.

MonkeysPunk · 01/06/2011 20:22

I could order from Boots - with "next day" delivery only £4.95 - I'd get 6190 points for the buggy, raincover and uv cover together - but pay £459 - a stunning £70 more than charged at practical pushchairs - where it's not actually in stock.... so would actually cost me £15 more (with the next day delivery) as I'd be getting £61 back in boots points and can get 2.02% at top cash back (that's a bit meagre).....is that about £9 cash back too... so the £61 of points and £9 cashback = the same price as practical pushchairs then...and it's in stock available for friday delivery for less than a fiver!
I know I want that raincover - as the one I have in the cupboard will be trailing on the floor with the swift - I might not need the suncover - but I do like those - they're useful for keeping insects off down by the lakes in the woods - and I can use it with the front window open - affording a bit more sun cover for ds - who's as pale and blonde as can be... he might not tolerate the front window shut on it though unless asleep!
Still dithering here then......

MonkeysPunk · 01/06/2011 20:23

Anyone got a boots code? Smile

FriggFRIGG · 01/06/2011 20:29

MonkeysPunk · 01/06/2011 20:32

It was meant to be! I just did a swift google - and found BOOTS10 gets 10% off orders over £75 - and I got ALL the same points - it took a whopping £45.90 off my bill!!! Now to pray my order meets the "checks" and they actually did have stock and it really will turn up on friday....
Or I may throw a wobbler!!!! Blush

Now to relax (fingers crossed this order works out) Wine

Ah, cross posted FriggFRIGG! But thank you so much anyway.... Wine cheers! Wine

MonkeysPunk · 01/06/2011 20:45

Feeling lots better about the purchase now Wine- with the cashback and 10% and points too. Boots was not so pricey afterall.....WineWineWine and I'm really hopeful I'll get it in time to enjoy this weekend - as we have LOTS of outings and a nifty but capable buggy is just perfect for all occasions....Grin

I will be a good mummy and photo the other stuff to sell tomorrow - hoping the XLR and Breeze will cover the cost of the swift. I have noticed I tend to do things backwards - spend on the CC and pay off by selling the other buggies after! Hmm No wonder DH gets a bit narked! (it is my card in my name and I pay it myself though..)

MonkeysPunk · 01/06/2011 20:46

Might have to keep that Maclaren planets liner from the XLR for DS - as he does love his rockets and planets - and I'm sure it'll fit in the MB Swift okay....

FriggFRIGG · 01/06/2011 21:00

im sure it will,i always switch my red star buggysnuggles and their sheepskins into each buggy, bit of familiarity, helps DS sleep, and keeps DD sweet (she likes red stuff) Grin

FriggFRIGG · 01/06/2011 21:01

you are making me want a swift....maybe i do need the duet after all...

OP posts:
suzie38 · 01/06/2011 21:16

Just tried the Boots Swift...Got £40 off plus the 5600 points which is equivalent to £56 isn't it??? Don't go into Boots much these days...Plus advantage of picking up myself...It appears they're in stock...Winstanleys are expecting some soon...I bought my Vista off them.

MonkeysPunk · 01/06/2011 21:42

ooh, how is the Vista? Does the vista fit on a bus then?

Suzie38 - did you actually buy the swift too then? (or were you just trying out to see how much you'd save)
I bought the swift and the storm and uv covers - so I guess my bill was a tad higher - but I got a few extra points also...and still 10% off those covers too....and I do need them - well I need the rain one - I just wanted the sun one - because it's so neat - and DS is so fair - I'm going to try and get him used to it - hopefully if I tell him it's a "tent" or a "house" he'll accept it. Smile

www.practicalpushchairs.co.uk just came back to me - to explain that the flint swift was in stock - just not available for immediate despatch because they had it in their other warehouse - and could be sent for end of next week - just not right now before the weekend...but I have cancelled with them anyway - as already ordered with boots after they said they couldn't deliver before the weekend.. but they'd have been cheaper, if you didn't count the points and cashback available at boots as a parent club member and going through top cashback.

MonkeysPunk · 01/06/2011 21:44

I'm sure hiding ds under the uv cover some of the time should save me a little money in suncream.....as I hate all except the mousse kind from switzerland that is nice to smear on....

suzie38 · 01/06/2011 21:52

Tell me about sunscreen...It's stained so many clothes...Using Badger at the moment and so far no stains though maybe because it's a reflector rather than absorbing the suns rays...I was just testing Boots out...I didn't do a cash back thing as no idea what to do.

As to the Vista, i used it 5 or 6 times before selling it on...Someone on here pm'ed me about it but i wouldn't go low enough...The handle was too high for me even on the lowest setting...I had actually tried it in a shop but you notice more when using it properly...Plus the wheels were rock hard with not great suspension...Though i guess suspension might soften with use...In an area near my parents which is very middle class i've seen 5 or 6 being pushed around and all different colors...I chatted to one lady about hers, she loved it...But then i guess didn't have others to compare like i did...Sold it on eBay for £400...So wasted £140 not including eBay fees.

Guildfordnanny · 01/06/2011 21:57

I really want to try the Uppa Vista with Rumble Seat - it looks like it's balanced right and I love the fact the Rumble seat has a footrest so the chills feet aren't blocking up the huge basket.

Guildfordnanny · 01/06/2011 22:06

I have also been checking put the Noa. At £130 something I wonder if it's worth a try. Although the claim I just read about it being the first trolley type pushchair isn't true because you can pull the Takeoff behind you like a trolley too. I have tried to fold it and it is one handed and neat. It just looks a little odd and the wheels seem tiny. It seems close to the ground for a toddler too? Any thoughts?

MonkeysPunk · 01/06/2011 22:07

Darn that's bad luck on the money you lost. Sad

I know what you mean about others "Loving" their buggies -but they haven't actually tried all that much - and so their expectations are not the same as those of a person who has tried LOTS of different types.

Lots of people LOVE their Bugaboos - and I can see why - they are lovely in use - but for me - they just didn't feel durable enough.
I wanted the Bee+ for rearfacing - and then realised as DS is pre-school age now - rear facing was not practical anymore as it didn't feel so balanced with a large child bolt upright facing me - too much weight over the rear wheels - and besides his feet were nearly on the floor with no footrest!
The cam I thought was gorgeous - but when I went to change the seat covers and found the base seat was coming unstitched - and then found a big frayed hole in the basket I lost confidence in the durability for my intensive buggy use (4 miles a day every day). while bugaboo were brilliant replacing these parts - I wanted to sell on with the new parts rather than risk using and having the same issues again - and then bugaboo querying why it was happening (despite child being within the recommended weight limits and basket honestly never being overloaded).

I did wonder if the vista was the next best thing to the cam - it's often compared - but perhaps I would not like if the suspension is hard. I do love air tyres, and am not afraid to sit on the kerb and mend a puncture myself (actually have done this!).

I will find the name of the suncream for you - as it goes on like a dream - not at all sticky/greasy and hasn't stained so far. I know it used to be called proderm - but now has a new name...

The Sun Mousse for Kids spf 30 originally developed for kids with eczema! It's so nice to use.
