I was just about to ask if anyone had ever used the Bugaboo snow wheels. Thanks suzie.

MonkeysPunk · 31/05/2011 23:09

I've used the bugaboo wheels off road - but not in snow - they were very good compared to the city wheels, and also compared to 2 wheel position which I found a bit impractical.

The BJ summit was superb in snow btw - even thick slushy stuff - or deep stuff - and the handbrake was a bonus!

suzie38 · 31/05/2011 23:18

But the Summit is too big for a bus i think...Yes i love the idea of the tray, i'd forgot about that...A lady in America has invented a tray for Cameleons and as i said i was interested in one for my Donkey, she's going to see if she can do one for me and others of course...The snow wheels are great, i think Bugaboos look better with them on as i still think the tiny front wheels look silly...Only hassle i found was when i needed to fold it up and i tended to catch my fingers loosening the clip that holds the wheels straight.

suzie38 · 31/05/2011 23:20

And also i need the adjustable handle the Elite has...I love a low handle plus prefer pivot handles to extending ones, though Bugaboo ones are fine...The Uppababy Vistas wasn't.

MonkeysPunk · 01/06/2011 07:24

I think if I sold the breeze and last weeks Persian red maclaren xlr I could afford a swuft... use the swift for school run, everyday, buses and trains..and keep the summit for beach, weekend adventures, severe weather...
A total buggy collection of 2.
I've just sold my bee+ and am hoping the cam will sell soon.

suzie38 · 01/06/2011 08:42

I can't decide now what i want Confused What would have better resell value??? A BJ or MB???

MonkeysPunk · 01/06/2011 09:04

They both have good resale value in my experience - they're both top quality!

I'm now trying to decide if I want a swift - and to keep my BJ summit - or whether I could actually get an Urban Jungle - and sell EVERYTHING else!

Would I manage a folded Urban Jungle on our tiny local bus (which I probably use but once a year), will the Urban Jungle be easy on the train?

Will the Urban Jungle be fine for the pebbly beach....

Child is going to be 3y on Monday - so perhaps the Urban Jungle would be a more sensible buy (in my experience my children grow a LOT between 3y and 5y) I anticipate needing a buggy of some sorts until age 5y.

If I get the Urban Jungle - I'll probably get the "Night in the Menagerie" Edition (my fave) and I think I've just blagged an extra 5% off at a certain online retailer (who's offer ended midnight)....and it's at a great price anyway - although it does come with carrycot which I do not need - but could sell on ebay to someone who does need it - I guess?!

Or do I really want the swift - as it's so tiny - but will my child get too big for it?

Surely the Urban Jungle is going to be a space saver compared to my BJ Summit though?

Does anyone have the new Urban Jungle? Is it really that poor in quality compared to previous models? It looks good on the online pics and videos - anyone here have any experience of the recent models?

suzie38 · 01/06/2011 09:29

Now my DD is tiny, 9-12 month clothes at 2 years old so needing a big buggy isn't an issue for me...So it's definetely a contest between a Swift and an Elite...I like you can get more accessories for the Elite but it's not like i'll be using it tons so maybe wasting money buying a snack tray though the Swift costs more...Does the Summit freestand??? I like freestanders which i know the Swift is...I do like the patterned edition you mention but that'd be way too big money for how much use mine would get.

Guildfordnanny · 01/06/2011 09:33

I don't think there really is that much difference....I will ask if I can get a photo of the two side by side. I just preferred the neater package of the Swift. I think both wil look smaller than the Summit however the fold is long. Also apart from the basket I don't think there are any other pockets etc. And Baby Jogger are better at padded seats etc.

MonkeysPunk · 01/06/2011 09:47

We do like that the Breeze fits into the boot without any unassembling - so maybe the swift is the better model from that point of view - He fits okay into the breeze - but when reclined his head is pressing at the top of the seat. He's going to need to nap in the buggy so from that point of view - perhaps the urban jungle will be better - I will definitely appreciate the suspension - and larger shopping basket - compared to the breeze - and also that he cannot reach his foot to the front wheel by the looks of the urban jungle or swift - which he can on the breeze - and rest his shoes on the front tyre as it spins for fun!

You can buy a baby jogger parent console and fit it onto another brand buggy btw

Suzie38 - the swift is definately smaller and neater than the BJ Elite.

The summit doesn't really free-stand although it's quite easy to prop up in our cupboard. It's really neat folded - apart from the huge wheels (which remove in seconds if you need - even the front wheel on the BJ is really quick to take off - just push the button in and pull it out).

The summit goes into our boot without any need to unassemble - but it takes up more room than the breeze - which lays neatly at the base of the boot - and other things (coats/picnic) can be piled on top. With the Summit in the boot it's a bit more tricky fitting the other stuff around it.

I'll have to measure the length of the breeze folded and compare to the length of the urban jungle folded - to see if they're similar - and also the width. If the Urban Jungle fitted into our (old zafira) boot without being taken apart in anyway it would be very practical to have that model I think - as it should take a bigger/taller child than the swift (esp in recline mode) I am hoping...

Guildfordnanny · 01/06/2011 10:01

I really don't think the seat sizes are much different. Let's put it this way the Duo and Duet seat sizes are the same and one is based on the Swift and one the Urban Jungle - if there is then it's minimal. The Baby Jogger parent console isn't as good or have as many pockets as the Elite one. I may start to watch EBay for one...

MonkeysPunk · 01/06/2011 10:20

Souds like the swift is the better model for us then...if I decide to upgrade from the breeze (and also sell the maclaren xlr).
Thanks so much for your input Guildfordnanny

Guildfordnanny · 01/06/2011 11:09

No problem. It's a dilemma I have had because I much prefer the Swift for neat size and smaller fold but my Mountain Buggy contact keeps trying to persuade me that the Urban Jungle with it's bigger wheels would be better for the beach etc, which it probably would, but I don't go to the beach enough to warrant the bigger chassis. I put my daughter in both seats and I can't remember knowing there was much difference ie there may well have been the odd cm but not enough for me to go...wow that's a lot different. Whereas the Elite seat although only about 3-4 cms taller than the City Mini was enough for me to notice IYKWIM. BTW I am never convinced of manufacturers seat sizes. I tend to take my own tape measure! I have asked for a photo for you. Whether I get one back is another thing ;)

MonkeysPunk · 01/06/2011 11:14

Thanks Guildfordnanny.

Grin frigg I'm so glad!

saoirse86 · 01/06/2011 12:24

All this talk of snow and pushchairs is making me think I need another for the winter! Wink

Tonight my SIL and her DP are about to announce that they're having IVF ATM (although we've known for months) so anyway, I'm going to have lots of fun talking them into buying 6 pushchairs for every occasion!! Grin

Guildfordnanny · 01/06/2011 13:31

I got my cosy toes for my Xtreet yesterday. It's very cute but short but will do for the baby. My latest pushchair has just arrived but I am not allowed to open the box until tomorrow...which is really frustrating as new pushchairs are exciting especially when you haven't really seen it before.

aswellasyou · 01/06/2011 14:12

Why aren't you allowed Guildford? How can you just leave it there?! Frigg, your Duet has arrived? I thought it hadn't left China! Or am I confused with all the pushchair deliveries that go on on this thread? HmmGrin
For good measure...[wunk]

suzie38 · 01/06/2011 14:15

You're confused!!! [wunk] Mind you i've forgotten what it was, a MB double or similar i think.

suzie38 · 01/06/2011 14:16

Yes GN what has arrived??? Envy

FriggFRIGG · 01/06/2011 14:44

its a MB urban double-it was supposed to tide me over until the duet arrived...but i might keep it Grin

however, the only little annoyances are things the duet has worked out....so it may well be the holy grail Grin

GN i have no idea how you havent ripped the box open already!! no one would ever know

How about this...Look at the movie!!!
www.4mumsonline.com/origami

MonkeysPunk · 01/06/2011 15:13

wow - first impressions - that looks SILLY!

But I'm a sucker for gadgetry - so naturally interested now...if only it were an all-terrain looking thing I'd be buying it!

Watching it fold itself does make me giggle though - it sort of looks like it's just "curled up and died"! I can imagine my son getting quite distraught upon seeing a new buggy doing that!

I'm thinking of ordering the MB Swift this afternoon - then photographing my Maclaren XLR and MB Breeze ready to list on ebay - hopefully will make my money back on them - which will pay for the swift - and I'll have one fab more versatile buggy rather than 2 stood in my hallway (and we'll just not talk about the lovely BJ summit squirrelled away beneath the stairs for now....and figure out how much I need it before making a decision on selling it)...

Hoping oxford pram center have a good stock of the swifts - missed out on the deal at Boots yesterday while dithering - would've got £50 of points - and it would have cost £370 - but obviously that would mean £320 really - as the boots points could've been spent on nappies and loo rolls....

Anyone know of any discount codes or bargains anywhere before I go ahead and order?
