Congratulations @NormallyAwkward !!! You must be so relieved

I feel like I’m a teenager waiting for a call back when we had a land line.

I had a call this morning asking would be ok with x date (not the date we all agreed) as the dates changed again and exchange today. At this point I just said yes to the new date and exchange today but now nothing.

its nearly 2pm and it’s a long chain. It’s not gonna happen today is it 😭😭😭😭

No, it is going to happen. Suddenly. At about 4.45pm. Keep the faith!

FolkloreEvermore1989 · 14/03/2025 14:04

Hello everyone. Joining this thread as we have confirmed our sale and purchase! 🤞🏻

Our buyers are ftbs and we are buying an end of chain house. So it is literally just us in the middle with both a sale and purchase. I am being as positive as I can without getting too attached.

There are a few complications as we are buying an unregistered property - but we’ve been assured that the trust deeds are at the building society and that first registration is straight forward.

When we get in we have a major renovation on our hands- the boiler is older than us. Our surveys are booked so hopefully the only issues are the ones we’re prepared for. 🤞🏻

Out of interest, where is everyone landing on their moving quotes? Anyone paid for packing service too? not sure what to budget/estimate…

Hoping to move in June. Our buyers lease runs out end of May but I would be surprised if we’re completed by then. My aunt used our solicitors and it only took 8 weeks but… still!

All this with a toddler and a weeks old baby! What am I thinking!?

Hearya · 14/03/2025 14:14

hotandpermi · 14/03/2025 13:49

@Hearyawelcome !! I’m in a 6 chain nightmare so hopefully your will go smoother than mine.

mines only gone pair shaped because of a really rare thing when the ftb at the start of the chain was ready then went back on it on day we were supposed to exchange !!

what stage are you at ?

Thank you! Very early stages, just instructed although one of our sales fell through right at exchange point so at least we can reuse some of the old paperwork (every cloud!)

Good luck with everything @movingtoreading!

Abra1t · 14/03/2025 14:23

Fingers crossed @Hoolahoophop!

Abra1t · 14/03/2025 14:25

Just trying to book house clearance date number 3. At this rate, I'll be dismantling wardrobes and beds at midnight on 30 March, with nowhere to take it...

hotandpermi · 14/03/2025 14:31

@BarbaricYawp I feel a bit sick tbh. If it doesn’t I will be grateful for the weekend of not thinking oh my phone. Yelled at various people calling me who aren’t linked to the exchange. Totally unreasonable I know !

@FolkloreEvermore1989 welcome !! So I’m in SE and we have packing and moving (also have small humans) I think ours came to just under £900. But I had a range of quotes (all came to view) and the others for packing and moving was £1.5k mark. I also checked reviews etc and the ones we have done for are bloody glowing !!

@Hearyaahh thats good news at least !! And will speed you up !

@movingtoreading of course you feel emotional. These aren’t just houses but homes with memories and love built into them. I’m sure I will be a hot mess (hot as in temp wise not the other type) if and when we finally move. Ours is still pending exchange so lord only knows.

ekkkp it’s so nice to have this thread to grumble on. Because my partner is sick of me grumbling and said oh I don’t know why your finding this so stressful (he’s not had to do anything re moving house bar existing) - I nearly got him with a fork….

Went on the market about 1000 years ago. Have lost 3 buyers so far and we’ve just accepted a 4th offer. In a chain of 6 but the chain is complete so 🤞🤞 for this time.

Welcome! You sound like me but we are on to buyer 6 I think! Went on the market 2021.......

purplesmiler · 14/03/2025 14:47

Should be exchanging today...fingers crossed for everyone else due to exchange or complete today.

HavenSprings · 14/03/2025 14:48

Hello all,

hope you don't mind if i join in :)

My property is under offer with the (ft) buyers search well underway. I have also put in an offer on a property that was accepted.

Had the survey done and the only major concern was moss on the roof. Currently waiting for a quote from the roofer before i go back to the seller to see if i can reduce the asking price.

AliasGrape · 14/03/2025 15:00

Hi all, I'm not sure I quite qualify for the thread yet. Our house is sold STC, and our buyers are first time buyers in a rolling rental so that's great.

We'd offered and been accepted on our onward purchase, but had to pull our offer due to some things we found out during the initial searches. Lucky I guess it didn't go any further, but still disappointing.

Trying hard not to panic, but nothing is coming on the market within the area we need to be and our budget. Don't want to lose the sale so can see us moving into rented at this rate.

Omg, I had no idea it was so bad, Wimby, no wonder you're stressed.

Billybobidy · 14/03/2025 15:38

Can I please join? We just had our offer accepted yesterday on a house. We’re first time buyers currently renting. Our sellers are (hopefully) currently putting an offer in on the house they like which has no chain.
I honestly only know bits of what happens in the house buying process and feel a bit out of my depth but tentatively excited!

Is it excessively mossy?

hairyunicorn · 14/03/2025 15:59

Abra1t · 14/03/2025 15:41

Is it excessively mossy?

Not too much from what i could see, but waiting for the roofers report.

The surveyor said it wasn't anything to get too worried about, says he sees moss on 8 out of 10 properties he visits

hotandpermi · 14/03/2025 16:23

Just to comment everyone no matter which stage of the buying process is welcome on this thread.

it’s for the highs and for the lows and for the excitement and also for the panic !

everyone is welcome. I cracked and called my EA, he basically said he didn’t think it would happen today. Mainly because the ftb sent the deposit via check…. So that’s fun.

maybe exchange next week. I’m breaking the chain as my onward vender is being difficult and not complying with the date and I don’t want the end of chain and ftb at the beginning of the chain breaking the chain because neither will consider the other.

hope others have had that call !!! And got the green light 🚦 (I’m starting to think the lights in at are not working and people are driving all over the place)

happy Friday all

Haha yes our youngest was a baby when we started the process and now she's at school.......The local estate agents know us very well 🙈🙈 We have never had a problem selling, just with the onward purchase.

Feelingstrange2 · 14/03/2025 16:32

DS has called his solicitor with a few bits and she says she now has everything and it "looks in order" but she's working this weekend and will formally report on it then.

She's aiming for a March completion (to help DS vendors with SD, not him - although he will be happy to be in finally after one purchase fall through and to move on from the emotional connection of his current rental.)

Hoolahoophop · 14/03/2025 16:38

@hotandpermi oh no. What were they thinking. Did nobody give any guidance! Ours were very clear we need to transfer and all in one go and from a single account. I'm sorry you have got to this point to have it snatched away.

Hoolahoophop · 14/03/2025 16:38

We we have exchanged. Not sure how I feel really. Excited, relieved and terrified!
