Ah, a new thread. Hopefully, the one I graduate from seeing as we complete in 13 days. Looking forward to putting 6 and a half months (since chain complete) of pain to bed and moving on with our lives.

@HavenSprings Your post made me laugh. I remember the vendors of our current house trying to sell us a 20-year old dishwasher and washing machine when we moved in. It's incredible how people think their old toot has value. I'm also intrigued to see what gets left behind by our current vendors. They have said they are taking pretty much everything - including curtain poles and even the wall lampshades that they didn't even buy as I've seen them on the archived photos of the previous sale listing!

I'm looking forward to seeing what delights our new house has in store for us. I wonder what won't work or will fall apart within the first few months 😂. Mostly excited to explore the local area though, which is new to us, enjoy the garden during the summer months and start choosing some paint :-) .

Welcome all the new joiners and rejoiners !! @TheWheelOfTime you may already know this but try to ask what the long and short stop of your house is.

they bury it in paper work and my friend got a professional snagged in on her new build so that was helpful as it forced the building company to fix it. But I suspect it’s personal preference!

im crossing everything for people hoping to exchange today (we are hopeful) but you know I have been here before !! Aghhh we thought we would have completed way before march deadline… oh how naive I was.

if it helps anyone I believed my EA that this would be relatively simple. Laugh with me now all !

Thanks, @hotandpermi . Long and short stops relate to new builds, don't they? In which case, I think you meant to tag @TheCatCameBack112 instead. 🙂 Thank you for the welcome to the thread, though. Hope everyone who's waiting to hear something today receives the news they want (& promptly!).

I don't know whether to feel reassured or discouraged that there are other brazen sellers like ours out there! When we went to view the house, the infamous toilet roll holder they want to sell us for £40 wasn't in the bathroom... Maybe they hid it because it's a valuable that they have insured with their contents as it's all gold and silver and 3k+ value? Who knows. For our lampshades, they offered a more reasonable £30... each. I guess those are going, too. As I'm not paying!

I am also very excited to explore the area as we're moving 30 min from where we are now. I'm sure it will be worth it despite the things that will inevitably go wrong! I've already got a to-do list based on survey and checks results. Fun times ahead 😆

Abra1t · 14/03/2025 10:09

My sale was supposed to be 'simple' too. Unoccupied house that had cleared probate. Sold to 'no chain' buyer who 'only' had to carry out a transfer of equity on his existing house to his own property company, so selling to himself.

You'd think it couldn't be more straightforward and easy to progress!

2025willbemytime · 14/03/2025 10:16

I am giving my buyers a fully furnished bedroom plus another couple of bits of furniture and five white goods. I wouldn't dream of asking for anything! They are getting garden stuff too. Mutually beneficial so why not? My vendor wanted to charge me £150 for some chairs. I said no thank you. They are leaving them.

hotandpermi · 14/03/2025 10:18

@TheWheelOfTime your completely correct I tagged the wrong poster and yes those are in relation to new builds !!

honestly losing my hope hour by hour

I’m signing everything tomorrow having had an enormous bundle of paperwork through today. With luck we can exchange and complete in what now feels like a race to the finish line.

Felt quite delirious today. Also had a wobble while reading through everything and the ‘buyer beware’ stuff.

Just want it all done now, I am emotionally done in. Thread 3 for me ..

That sounds like the paperwork we are waiting for! Hopefully things can move quite quickly after that. I asked our sol about dates yest but she was q evasive, she said we were close but still have some hoops to jump through 🥴

Hoolahoophop · 14/03/2025 10:47

Hello all think this is the third or maybe fourth thread for me!

@hotandpermi keeping my fingers crossed for you today and offering some company.

We are hoping to exchange today as well. With a completion date of the 31st March. Our solicitor has advised against so we had to formally write to say we were agreeing against their advice. But really, if the rest of the chain cannot get any removals before the 31st it was take a gamble on that, or go in April and definitely have to pay extra stamp.

Hoping for good news for all.

Skandar · 14/03/2025 10:50

We are hoping to exchange today as well! After weeks of waiting for the deed of variation to get signed, it all happened yesterday and now everything is moving quickly! We're due to complete on the 26th - eeek! Sat waiting for my solicitor to confirm if exchange has happened or whether it will have to wait til Monday...

NormallyAwkward · 14/03/2025 11:51

Can you believe I've finally completed! Only 3 in the chain and it's taken since July. Just waiting on the estate agent to confirm we can get the keys. Good luck to everyone else but thankfully I've finally graduated from this thread!

Hoolahoophop · 14/03/2025 11:54

@NormallyAwkward whoo hoo. Congratulations. Lets hope you are setting the ball rolling for this being a good day!

Wow that's amazing, just shows how it can turn around quite quickly!

WimbyAce · 14/03/2025 12:55

Have been doing more sorting and getting rid of stuff today. No idea if we could be moving in 2 weeks or 2 months so I refuse to do any packing having been burnt before. Hoping everyone is on track 😬

2025willbemytime · 14/03/2025 13:04

Congrats @NormallyAwkward .

I have still not heard. Is there any point ringing as surely I'd have been told?

Are you waiting to find out about exchange or just for an update? Has your chain set a completion date?

I would still ask for an update - I don't think it does any harm to keep reminding them that you're waiting!

Yes, although I've just heard that it won't happen today because our buyer doesn't have the deposit ready 🙄So will be Monday or Tuesday now. Hopefully they're sorted with the rest of the funds..... (cash buyers, so no mortgage involved)

BarbaricYawp · 14/03/2025 13:36

Can I join?
Went on the market about 1000 years ago. Have lost 3 buyers so far and we’ve just accepted a 4th offer. In a chain of 6 but the chain is complete so 🤞🤞 for this time.

hotandpermi · 14/03/2025 13:47

Congratulations @NormallyAwkward !!! You must be so relieved

I feel like I’m a teenager waiting for a call back when we had a land line.

I had a call this morning asking would be ok with x date (not the date we all agreed) as the dates changed again and exchange today. At this point I just said yes to the new date and exchange today but now nothing.

its nearly 2pm and it’s a long chain. It’s not gonna happen today is it 😭😭😭😭

@Hearyawelcome !! I’m in a 6 chain nightmare so hopefully your will go smoother than mine.

mines only gone pair shaped because of a really rare thing when the ftb at the start of the chain was ready then went back on it on day we were supposed to exchange !!

what stage are you at ?
