The all new buyers/sellers waiting room (continued x3) thread!

1000 replies

fromtheshires · 25/06/2024 19:04

As @movingtoplan has finally flown the nest, I have taken the torch and started a new thread as there are less than 80 replies remaining on the current thread before its full!

We've had lots of completions, exchanges, offers accepted, maddening conveyancing teams, strange requests, and worries to last a lifetime. Welcome welcome.

Catch up here: Previous Thread

Good luck to you, whatever stage you're at in the process.

My update is our onward purchase was completed months ago but due to buyers pulling out we had to start again with a buyer and they are just in the final stages of conveyancing and we are talking dates! I really hope I am not on the next thread.

yay for @runningmom :)

BirthdayRainbow · 06/08/2024 18:12

Well done @runningmom . So so pleased for you. Enjoy your McDonalds.

Tomorrow I am dropping my pet at the vet then travelling to view what I hope will be my new home.

Champere · 06/08/2024 18:29

Wonderful news @runningmom !!

Just caught up on thread.

We’ve resigned ourselves to a long haul. Our buyers solicitor has already requested our draft contract….whilst we still wait for the memo of sale on our purchase!

Ive told our solicitor to do nothing until we get a draft contract on our purchase. I’m not paying for any searches or surveys until it comes in.

TheEnglishSystemSucks · 06/08/2024 19:21

congrats @runningmom and good luck with all the admin that comes with it. If you want an important phone call to come through, always go to the toilet 😄

BG2015 · 06/08/2024 19:55

Just caught up!

@runningmom 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 YAY!!!!!!!

Im am SO pleased for you. At least you will now have 3 good weeks to get in and sorted.

@fromtheshires how's your day been?

ClematisBlue49 · 06/08/2024 20:04

Well done @runningmom 🍔🍟🍾😃- finally!

startingoveragainagain · 06/08/2024 20:49

The people who seem the most interested in our house (but haven't yet put in a reasonable offer have had photos done of their house today, and are about to put it on the market).

We've another couple coming on Monday who haven't sold, but have an offer on the table...

fromtheshires · 06/08/2024 20:52

Yay @runningmom - you got there in the end!
Let the destress begin and get ready for Friday!

@BG2015 it's been great. Husband at work so I finished packing the kitchen apart from what we will need tomorrow, dismantled the bed (were sleeping like students on just a mattress for the next 2 nights) and all we need to do tomorrow is clean so the new buyers don't tell all our neighbours we are tramps. They will know we aren't as they have been in the house but still.

2 sleeps to go. Im so excited.

@runningmom Ah congratulations! What a relief. Xx

Bootoagoose123 · 07/08/2024 07:21

@runningmom that's brilliant news! We're both moving on Friday - good luck with the final bits of packing!

runningmom · 07/08/2024 08:05

@Bootoagoose123 thanks. Good luck too! Is there a moving thread to join?! I thought I’d sleep better last night but it was worse. I’m so drained so will run on empty the next few days! Thankful I’m off work the next few weeks.
Just trying to get my head round sorting broadband etc for new house and worried what I’m going to do with the black bags of rubbish I’m amassing! Tip run booked.
Hope people get good news this week.

NoWordForFluffy · 07/08/2024 08:52

Are you taking your current broadband provider with you, @runningmom? If the account is in your name and you're in contract, and they provide to your new house, you'll have to or you'll pay a fee to terminate supply. You can usually tell them online that you're moving.

If the above doesn't apply, I'd suggest getting on either Top Cashback or Quidco and get quotes via there, as you'll also get some cash back for ordering broadband.

runningmom · 07/08/2024 08:57

@NoWordForFluffy hi the current one is in my husbands name only (ex), so he’s going to cancel that then I’ll order new broadband/tv package for new house as a new customer. As I think we are still in contract I think we have to pay about£100 to close account.
Its scary doing all this solo!

NoWordForFluffy · 07/08/2024 08:59

I do all utilities solo. DH has no interest / input!

Make sure you get some cash back (often it's on top of any offers the provider has, such as Amazon gift cards which many seem to entice with)! In fact, getting a new house can mean loads of shopping / cash back opportunities!

Billythecat · 07/08/2024 14:20

Joining if ok.

Put our house on the market in early May and sold to cash buyers within a couple of days. Found our onward purchase (4 hrs away) a few weeks later. All seemed to be going fine apart from some minor concerns on our onward purchase until today when our buyers pulled out out of the blue! Apparently a few things came up on the survey, but they aren’t willing to share the report. We think they have got cold feet. Our estate agents are going to try to approach people who were previously interested, but I am so gutted. We are making a long distance move to be near family, adore our intended onward purchase and I have finally sorted a job in the new area which I have spent mat leave trying to fix etc. they have had the survey report for weeks and not said anything at all!

GoingDownLikeBHS · 07/08/2024 15:44

So, Halifax predicting prices will go up: I sold at the bottom of the market when we were desperate first week in May; ex-H and I have been stuck here 2 years going into 3rd year now trying to split up. We were told our buyer was hot to trot, FTB AIP in place etc., and now he still can't get a mortgage. And now this.:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ce9zjgex85po

I have no choice but to rent for a while and no doubt whilst I am renting, prices will go up meaning the deposit I have is worth less, and so on and so forth. If we do go back on the market in September I wont be accepting such a low price again 😡

A man and a woman on a street look at houses on the market in an estate agent's shop window

Further rate cuts could fuel house price rises, says Halifax

The mortgage lender says lower borrowing costs could fuel a "modest" rise in house prices.

GoingDownLikeBHS · 07/08/2024 15:46

@Billythecat similar timeline to you by the sounds of it, albeit different reasons for delay. I think when survey shit happens buyers should be obliged to show the survey to the estate agent, and also give the vendor a chance to buy it off them.

BG2015 · 07/08/2024 16:32

@runningmom I got £44 moving utilities from Topcash back and £80 from Sky broadband plus a £79 voucher

fromtheshires · 07/08/2024 21:30

Well thats me graduating from this thread as I complete tomorrow

🎓🥂🎓🍾🎓🍻🎓

@Marshmallowbrain - good luck for tomorrow
@runningmom and @Bootoagoose123 good luck for Friday

My parting words to you all are thank you for the support and you will get there in the end. Just keep on chipping away at the bastards and remember its always slower than you want it to be. I'll try and pop on on Friday to see how everyone is getting on!

Peace out and all that shit

OP posts:
GoingDownLikeBHS · 07/08/2024 21:41

I reckon we'll need thread 4 by Friday! So long and thanks @fromtheshires

BG2015 · 08/08/2024 07:24

Good luck everyone.

I'd say trust in the process - but that would be a lie 😂

Hope you're all in your new homes soon. 🎉

Marshmallowbrain · 08/08/2024 08:33

Thank you @fromtheshires!

Should be completing today, slightly hungover twiddling my thumbs wondering what's going to happen today.

CharlieBalf · 08/08/2024 09:24

Two weeks after our initial wtf-is-happening conversation with our on ward purchase EA and we are STILL at the starting blocks. Apparently vendors dog died. Now, I'm a dog person, I fully get the devastation this causes.

But.... it's now 12 weeks into a simple no chain either side purchase and vendor has filled out. O paperwork.

Apparently they are really apologetic and promise to get on with it but how long more can we wait?

GoingDownLikeBHS · 08/08/2024 09:57

@CharlieBalf we issued an ultimatum to our buyer on 19th July. Estate agent insists that its unfair to "push" the buyer. So here we are 3 weeks later ...
