Property history sold 20 times in 17 years?!?!

Can anyone think of why a property would have this many sold listings on zoopla? I noticed it as it came up for sale recently, went to ‘under offer’, and then was taken off the market without ever going to ‘SSTC’ (it was listed with an agent that seems to update to this when sales progress).

And Christ look at the cellar on the flooring plan 😩

I don’t often laugh out loud when I read something, but this really got me.

Cellars creep me out big time 😂

They're dried hops. Used to be very popular decorations in pubs. A bit passé and a fire risk.

And probably full of mice'n'spiders !

It does have a very tragic history - young daughter accidentally killed by her younger brother, and body then stolen by grave robbers from the churchyard!

I knew I recognised it when I saw the picture of the outside. It's just up the road from me. Haunted as hell. Not joking. Not being sarcastic. Haunted.

But people wouldn't keep buying then?

zoopla error.

is the house locally renowned for being spooky then?

The hops in the kitchen are a regional thing. Herefordshire, along with Worcestershire and Shropshire are where most hops are grown in the UK.

Yes our farmer neighbour grew hops (Worcestershire) and after harvesting he would always bring us a couple of hop vines to hang in the kitchen. I really didn't like them but he was so kind and always giving us produce. Putting them up wasn't so bad but taking them down when they were dry and brittle - oh lord - debris everywhere! Some say they bring money, some luck, some that they keep flies out of the kitchen 🤷

I heard it's haunted by a money laundering family of criminal ghosts.

😆

Haunted af

😂

Explodingheademoji · 05/04/2024 22:41

Thanks to the posters who went into land registry records, mystery solved!

The house definitely has a creepy feel to it, when it came on the market I wondered whether people would be put off by the history but it went to ‘under offer’ really quickly, DH said he could still live there but I have to say I couldn’t imagine being home alone there on a dark stormy night 😱😱😱

It's stunning!!

BusyMummy001 · 05/04/2024 22:56

I think they’ve partitioned pieces of the land and sold them off? When you look at the plot diagram there are barns and other buildings on adjacent land (Aylton Crt Barns and the Oast house etc).

I reckon pre 1997 they were all on one title/land deed and the owners have sold bits off, including two plots in December 2001.

AdultFemaleWoman · 05/04/2024 23:33

It's a British thing. Hops draped from the ceiling to be like it was in the 1900s

HoHoHoliday · 05/04/2024 23:39

It looks absolutely gorgeous. I would buy it, haunted or not!
Sadly don't have 800K...

LovePoppy · 05/04/2024 23:46

Its ghosts

dishymyfishy · 05/04/2024 23:58

I know that these prices now refer to different properties but just to say when my SIL got divorced and bought her ex out of the house the amount shows on Rightmove, so bought for one amount but "sold" 3 years later for much less. Not that it applies here but might resolve a head scratcher moment in future for another property.

tara66 · 06/04/2024 00:08

there is also nethouseprices.com for checking.

Look back a page or so, it's all listed

Wigtopia · 06/04/2024 00:39

@Explodingheademoji did you also spot the massive price swing around 2002?

Intothevalley · 05/04/2024 19:41

Money laundering of some description. It's owned by a trust group; https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/02624173/officers I'd say they're selling it between themselves, to move assets around.

This would make sense based on the chunk of text in the listing that says

”Photography
The pictures were taken in 2016, these are a fair representation of the property today.”

if you’re trying to sell a house “properly” you would surely have up to date pics. The fact they are reusing 2016 pics does back up the money laundering theory if they are not anticipating or wanting an actual sale outside of the trustees 🧐

excellent detective-being @Intothevalley 🕵️‍♀️

Spoonthief · 06/04/2024 00:55

If it was remortgaged it would also show as a sale.

Remortgaged our house to get better deal and historically shows as a sale when it was us staying there all along !

Annielou67 · 06/04/2024 01:01

Yep cockup on the history. It didn’t sell in 2021 for 400k and then go back on the market now for 795k without any work being done to it. Fab house.

Voicefrog · 06/04/2024 01:13

Eleesah · 05/04/2024 22:09

This was my first thought too. Money launderers love to use property to move money around.

Ok but they still need to do it

valensiwalensi · 06/04/2024 01:27

Urghhhh I hate it. The barn. The kitchen. Creepy!

pamshamalam · 06/04/2024 02:48

It's been used for tv I'm sure.
I think parts of it were used in the show where the daughter faked being part of a kidnapping with her parents, can't remember the name. The one where they threw her little dog out the window.

The front and driveway looks familiar from a few shows.

It's nice. I'd live there. I love ghosts, you are never lonely with a ghost around.
