It’s horrid.

Missingmyusername · 17/02/2024 20:13

Actually that’s a bit harsh, lovely outside but not to my taste on the inside.

Thegreengreengrassofhomes · 17/02/2024 20:14

Current owners evidently lacked the requisite ancestors to hang on the walls so they took up painting..

Fallenangelofthenorth · 17/02/2024 20:16

There's too many sitting rooms and bedrooms. I think I'd convert some into:

Library
Pub with a proper bar and draught beer
Games room
Maybe a model railway room
Daughter could have a lego room
Definitely a sauna
Boyfriend could have a darts room
Dressing room for all my new expensive shoes
Music room for when I've learned how to play the piano and violin

I'd need staff too as couldn't be arsed cleaning all that so they could have some rooms too.

Did anyone else have the voice of Lloyd Grossman in their head reading the title?

I can't get that Space song "Neighbourhood" out of my head!

Thats lovely.

I like this game! How about this one: https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/143387696#/?channel=RES_NEW - I’m thinking someone who made their money by fast fashion.

It's a bit poky for 18 million! And no ponds or jetties

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 17/02/2024 20:21

it is oddly lacking for £18m isn’t it? I’d want some sort of pricey beach.

owlsinthedaylight · 17/02/2024 20:22

An artist 😅That’s some family money at work there then!

No doubt of their artistic talents, but the number of artists that earn enough to buy that house would barely be in double digits.

Me too! The grounds are fantastic but the house itself is deeply depressing. All that dark wood does nothing for me. It looks dark and cold.

Fallenangelofthenorth · 17/02/2024 20:23

@FancyBiscuitsLevel I wonder why they have all the MGM pictures? Or are they TVs?

It's quite bland though isn't it? Like whoever lived there didn't spend much time there. I wonder if it's a rich foreign national perhaps? Maybe Russian or Oil money?

Not to my taste either, I just really dislike beams and I’m not sure why? The gardens are beautiful though

I love old buildings like that. Reminds me of some of the pubs in York I've stayed in. It's probably a bugger to keep warm though.

Me too! Outside is one thing but inside would give me nightmares.

Lampslights · 17/02/2024 20:31

That’s a lovely house. We did used to build such beautiful homes and love the fact the owner has kept it true to what it is, reflecting the beauty in it,

DodgeDog · 17/02/2024 20:31

Like it!

Looks exhausting

Maybe it's just as I'm late 50's but no way on God's green earth would I want to be maintaining the grounds or the buildings. Also, in the middle of nowhere so couldn't walk to any shops or a pub/restaurant.
Even with Euromillions, I cba with organising someone to organise this stuff for me.
It is beautiful though

Rowgtfc72 · 17/02/2024 20:34

@Fallenangelofthenorth was trying to see if that was a Chelsea badge on the indoor footy pitch. Abramovich?

mypafology · 17/02/2024 20:36

All those ceiling beams would be terrible feng shui

Oh, beams are connected to bad feng shui? I really dislike beams in property and I’m never sure why, I find them quite oppressive. I will have to google this!

Mossstitch · 17/02/2024 20:42

All i can see with all that panelling and beams is the dusting😱 love the pool room though, I'd be happy with that and convert the garage to living accommodation 😌

mumda · 17/02/2024 20:45

@Fallenangelofthenorth I always weigh up whether I'd need staff too. I'd need a full-time housekeeper at the minimum.

Maybe that’s what putting me off…. I’ve only been to York once and I’m sure the place I stayed was haunted!!! Bringing back memories 😂

Mirabai · 17/02/2024 20:58

What a beautiful house - so much character - I don’t know how they can bear to sell it. Whoever the artist is isn’t very good but that’s ok the rest of it’s lovely.
