Most boring place you’ve lived?

I’ve lived all over. London, Bristol, Manchester, Glasgow, Cardiff, Cambridge, and Singapore and Chicago.

The most boring place I lived was Cardiff. Lovely city, but lived in the bay in the redevelopment for 6 months and couldn’t wait to leave.

Londoner here. Singapore was pretty boring. I lived there for a few years. It's a nice place, just... boring. There's a reason why they call it SingaBore.

I know exactly where you lived in Cardiff and don't think the Bay is at all representative of the city.

The Bay feels like a strange, modern, bland no-man's land. A sort of liminal space of a place.

There's a scattering of mostly unpractical shops for day-today living, (with the exception of that little Tesco on the corner). The rest is mainly modern flats with no real sense of place & community (which I think still exists on the opposite side of the tracks in the old Tiger Bay /Bute Town community). The Wales Millennium Centre is probably the most exciting thing there, if you happen to enjoy live shows but I didn't really like the area as a place to live.

Northamptonshire. No one knows where it is and its mind numbing. Luckily, did not stay long ))

Northwich, Cheshire.

London.

Farnham & aldershot - couldn't pay me enough to go back there, lived there very briefly for uni and would never even go back to visit

LaPalmaLlama · 02/02/2024 22:18

Birmingham but that’s a bit unfair to Birmingham as the reasons I was bored was related to me not knowing anyone rather than the city itself.

KievLoverTwo · 03/02/2024 01:27

Lincolnshire

My OH once took himself off for a trip to the coast. Meant to be a 6ish hour trip.
Arrived back home after 4 hours because the journey was so boring that he couldn't even cope with the return boredom.

Northwich, Cheshire.

Ha ha that's my home town (and I no longer live there!)

Meadowfinch · 03/02/2024 02:27

Warwick. OK for tourists but otherwise, dull as dust.

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 03/02/2024 02:39

I don't think I've ever lived anywhere boring. The worst place (by far) was NI during the Troubles, but I wouldn't say it was boring. I now live in Perth, Australia which some people say is a boring city, but I love it!

London ? Really ?

flipflopfly · 03/02/2024 02:48

Absolutely agree with cupcakesarelife. Singapore is the most boring place to live. In fairness the game plan 50 years ago was to build a picture perfect city and they did, but as a result it's beautifully manufactured and has little to no soul.

Cicciabella · 03/02/2024 02:55

Ohh probably the suburb where I live now. It's so dull even the cats are bored. Typical English estate- everybody indoors- no culture- no neighbours invites ,.. having lived all over Europe I can safely say I'm bored and can't wait to leave!

Sevenoaks

Hedge End, Hampshire

Collectively about 5 years of my life. Too long. Tbf Sevenoaks had a good library and has a very good bookshop which definitely helped.

What was missing in Sevenoaks?

I live on a housing development on the outskirts of a town. There are 2 shops and a chippy. Everyone stays home all the time. It is so boring that people look out of the window when someone walks down the road. Once some teenagers had a house party and it was the most exciting thing that had happened in the area for months.

NecessaryNC24 · 03/02/2024 05:16

Gibraltar without a doubt.

Don't get me wrong, great weather, great opportunity to improve your Spanish but so so small and boring: everyone knows everyone and their business. Only one main shopping street. Many locals are cliquey.

Idk, I think maybe small towns are not for me.
