Was NOT expecting to see a 76ft long conservatory. I rather like it, as absolutely bonkers as it is.

If I hadn't have just moved in July and been so scarred by the process to know I don't ever want to move again, I would seriously consider moving up that way!

Chersfrozenface · 26/11/2023 14:12

Dear Father Christmas,

This year I would like a house with a wine cellar like this one (link for ease if reference)
https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/133989854#/?channel=RES_BUY

If you could manage a good sized library too, that would be spiffing.

I have been extra good this past twelve months

Love
Chers

That conservatory must have cost a bomb. You'd have to get the windows cleaned professionally. I agree a house is for living and you should do exactly what you want with it.
My 3 bed house has no bedrooms. Everyone says I'll never sell it.
The smallest bedroom fits a single bed but it's my office.
The second bedroom is my craft and bookbinding room. It's a double bedroom but no bed.
The big bedroom is my reading room. It has a wall bed in a cupboard that I pull down to sleep and it's goes back every morning. The rest of the room is lined with bookshelves and my book collection and a 2 seat comfy sofa.
All the bedrooms have built in walk in wardrobes with a door.
Everyone says how do you sleep/have guests. Plug in blow up beds is how or they can stay in a b&b.

when they say you'll never sell it do they mean because you love it so much you'd never leave, or because nobody else would ever buy it because it doesn't have any rooms currently used as bedrooms? If the second that makes no sense at all, it would still be advertised as a 3 bed regardless of what you use the rooms for, and any viewer with half a brain cell would understand you don't have to use each room for the same purpose as the current owner does.

Very odd basin in Pic 13 and they're obviously very proud of the landing that shows off the chandelier!

That basin looks like a urinal.

Living in the furthest SE corner,it always staggers me how much house you get for your money elsewhere. There are a couple of tiny bungalows near me for sale,2 beds, one only a single, just under £600k,and council tax band E. One of my work colleagues is buying a 2 bedroom flat in Surrey, council tax band E! I've got a 21x11 conservatory, DH gets up cleaning inside and out every 6/8 weeks.

It's proper bonkers. I was looking at two beautiful barn conversions earlier, joined by a conservatory, 3000 sq ft in total, 500k. Now I am dreaming of living next door to my other half in 2000 sq ft of space all to myself, and hailing him to come and serve me wine from his own home, but through a covered conservatory next door :D

(It shouldn't be this way, the above sound depressing)

Nannyfannybanny · 04/12/2023 07:56

For cleaning the conservatory,He has a long handled brush that fits on the end of the hose, for the outside. It's a bungalow, so he's up on the roof, clearing moss, leaves, gutters. The inside, has a high lantern roof,he's just bought a battery window scraper thing.

@KievLoverTwo that's my friends house. The glass house is a listed part of the building. It's been lovingly restored and is a fantastic space. Used for parties, quiet reading, enjoying the garden whilst being inside.

Beautiful house. But I would not want to pay their heating bills 😨

abouttobecomeagrandparent · 04/12/2023 08:45

@Twiglets1 me neither but then I guess it's all relative. You buy a house you can afford to live in! It's a beautiful home and the only reason they are selling is to downsize.

Yes that’s true, it is gorgeous so I can see the attraction but imagine it will be hard to sell? Only because it’s so huge and must be expensive to heat and maintain. Someone will fall in love with it though as they did.

I love a RightMove thread.

That conservatory is quite something. I wonder if, at the time, people thought it was batshit to connect that house to it, and all the others in the terrace. It's quite surrounded.

The Bristol one isn't for me, but I love the old features. If I had that much money, Portsmouth would be my pick of them, but it would need a declutter!

Mini mansion is gorgeous but looks like it has a new build on its doorstep.

Fortunately I don't have a £3m budget, because I can't find one thing I like about the Finchley house.

SurreyMumOfOne · 04/12/2023 11:14

Clearly showing off one's chandelier is a thing.

An orangery for all of you conservatory lovers.

Slight problem with the pool if you don't like Chelsea FC.

But at least there is a flat for one's staff.
