I drive past this house occasionally visiting a friend and it’s a bit marmite (and I’d love them to get rid of the red stuff). But i just spotted it’s still on Rightmove a year on.

It’s huge!! House in B93

It's very 'Guy Phoenix' 🥴 and all that red gives me Shining vibes.
I think it is overpriced.

Barnabyted · 04/03/2023 12:01

This has been on MN before and similar comments were made then.

Xol · 04/03/2023 12:02

Goodness, if you live there you must absolutely yearn for colour that isn't grey, white or red.

I'm amazed they went for wooden desks in the study, really, I wonder if someone put their foot down and insisted they weren't bloody going to have a grey one?

CrepuscularCritter · 04/03/2023 12:04

The Lady Byron Lane one is incredibly overlooked for the money. The rest of its problems are fixable.

Sadly I don't love the Dorridge one as much as I'd hoped. The gardens are beautiful, as is the central staircase, but the rest seems a bit disconnected, like all the different finishes in the kitchen.

Neither are problems I can afford to have. Grin

It’s awful! Not only really dated interiors but quite poor spec
If a house with that decor and kitchen was on the market near me, it would be described as ‘in need to updating’ or ‘reading for the incoming owner to renovate and add their own stamp’

Samsung appliances and Hansgrohe bathrooms in a £3m house..?

There is no way the developers got a professional interior designer to do that. A fiver says one of them got his wife to do it all, because he thinks she has a nice eye after making their house look like a 2nd Division footballers home, as that’s their idea of ‘classy’ after seeing it in OK magazine

My thoughts exactly!

It's truly hideous and would all need ripping out. Whoever put that together wasn't an interior designer, imho.

Not to mention it's actually too big (and that comes from someone who used to live in a 3500 sq ft house with just two other people).

It all looks cheap and very tasteless. We've put higher end fixtures and fittings in a house that was a fifth of that price and sold within a month

custardbear · 04/03/2023 12:06

It's bland, like a warehouse with walls put up like a cheap office block. Garden empty, no kerb appeal ... plus all that money and no pool!!

I wondered if it was someone who wasn't sure of their taste but thought grey was up to date and fashionable; then had second thoughts about varying the grey, and decided that it would be daring to add the dreaded pops of another colour, and even more daring to make them red.

LibertyLily · 04/03/2023 12:07

I'm not keen on the Dorridge one either - I particularly don't like the staircase - although the garden is lovely.

Obramaestra · 04/03/2023 12:08

Daffodilsandbeer · 04/03/2023 11:17

Wow, folks love the word “hideous” on here and attacking properties

the second one is gorgeous, but the first isn’t to my taste but I’d not need to keep the red stuff and can redecorate so for me, no issues.

to be honest though, I thought it was a single man’s home. I’m really surprised there is a whole family living there inc a woman, from the clothes and shoes. It feels quite stark and cold to me.

It needs completely re tiling in every bathroom and a new kitchen though. No-one would fit grey kitchen or bathroom now

megletthesecond · 04/03/2023 12:10

It's awful and I think it's been on here before.
Entire interior needs repainting and un-greying and front driveway needs breaking up and some shrubs and trees planted.
The only good thing is they haven't put plastic grass in the garden.

MrsWojadobakowsky · 04/03/2023 12:11

I am also not keen on the second one. It looks as if it was once a beautiful house. It now has nasty window frames, modern stairs and floorboards, ugly kitchen, and has been messed about with so that it is neither modern or traditional. Would have been a great house with character but due to the shite modern updating is now devoid of any of the things that make it an 'Oooh I want that' house.

Xol · 04/03/2023 12:16

It would cost a fortune to redecorate to make it lovable-in, it's not just a matter of repainting and changing the carpets. You'd have to gut the kitchen and bathrooms completely and redo them, change the shelving, all the doors, the staircases, the floor tiling in non-carpeted areas, the windows, things like the big feature fireplace/telly area in the living room, etc etc. I would be demanding a large discount for that alone.

nova99 · 04/03/2023 12:18

I didn't think anyone lived there until I saw the wardrobes. Where's all their stuff? I know it's not relevant to a house sale but it looks so void of life, it gives off an odd vibe.

All that money and there's red rugs everyone from bnm 🤣

I just wanted to add - in defence of the Hansgrohe bathrooms comment - it does depend somewhat on the range. We fitted Hansgrohe Axor (Montreux) in another previous house.

For those that aren't aware (and apologies if I'm preaching to the converted!), Axor is Hansgrohe's premium range and the shower valve/head etc alone set us back £2k. So it isn't necessarily the cheap brand one assumes.

Obviously not the most expensive brand out there either, though.

Greenbeans123 · 04/03/2023 12:19

Looks like a bachelor pad that doubles as an every other weekend dad home. Where are all the children's bits?
The colour scheme is awful.
Is it over priced? I'm up north so not sure but looking at similar local and that in 2015 it was sold for a lot less and been on the market a long time.

Dredel · 04/03/2023 12:20

It's totally overpriced

Thesharkradar · 04/03/2023 12:22

Are the pictures real? It looks like some sort of CGI to me 🤷

Dredel · 04/03/2023 12:23

They are both awful. What a waste of money. All that cash and no pool/land.

HollyFern1110 · 04/03/2023 12:24

I also don't think anyone actually lives there.

I love the walk in wardrobes, but the rest of the house not so much.

It could well be an ex Villa player's house in that location, but it's still an awful lot of money for a house in a street.

The second home is much nicer. Still ridiculously expensive but much more appealing. If I had between £3m & £4m to spend on a house (highly unlikely), I'd pick that one. If I absolutely had to live in the Midlands still.

anon37484291918 · 04/03/2023 12:25

I think it looks cold

PalmTree1982 · 04/03/2023 12:29

Didn’t realise been on before. Feel bad now! It’s just it’s been on for a year. I agree it’s too big. It’s huge from the outside. I’ll deffo drive by in next couple of weeks and look if anyone lives there. I get it on the Dorridge one. But it’s still smaller and better than this one (albeit a lot more money too).

all out of my ballpark nonetheless! Now trying to work out why I even posted, just I guess the interior really. For square footage it’s good value.

Omaze might be interested.. I can imagine their tv woman swishing around gushing about the space...

SoupDragon · 04/03/2023 12:29

The stairs and balustrades look like they belong in a shopping centre.

it's so soulless!

I do have serious wardrobe envy though.

WinterMusings · 04/03/2023 12:31

Neither for me with my £3m.

Daffodilsandbeer · 04/03/2023 12:33

It’s a bit odd. It was listed in feb 22 for 3 million, taken off and relisted at a higher price.

a Family definitely live there, in the video tour you can see the guy opens the fridge and it’s full. I think they’ve literally put everting away for the pics.
