Need help to come up with a name for our home/wedding venue business!

I have a mental block when it comes to naming our new venture and thought I would get the wonderful Mumsnet hive mind to help!

Some back ground:

We have been asked if we would be interesting in hosting small weddings at our home and part of this involves creating social media pages for our property, we need something to refer to our property as, not just 'Sue and Gary's house'

This will potentially turn into a regular little money earner so I'm keen to get off to the best possible start and come up with a memorable name.

I'll give a description of our property:

Large red American barn style home.
Set on a small farm / lovely gardens.
Surrounded by vineyards.
Home interior has a slight Sante Fe aesthetic but mainly country / rustic style.

Our surname is that of a bird, so I have considered incorporating that somehow but it's not crucial.

The obvious name is something like 'The Red Barn' but there is already a wedding venue with that name in another area (about 4 hours away from us)

I like a name that conjures up a mental image...so something descriptive, red, barn, farm, bird etc...

Some of my ideas have been:

The Red Homestead
Red Barn
Red Barn Homestead
The Starling Barn
The Hitching Post (bit cheesy?)

I keep going round in circles and feel like there must be something better...any suggestions?

Vineyard Farm

Oh to clarify the vineyards are on neighboring properties, not ours.
So I had wondered if using 'vineyard' in the name was slightly misleading...?

Make up a name, merge your names together, play on your surname, grab a handful of scrabble tiles and play around with them until you have something g that sounds nice but is meaningless. The name will eventually be meaningful because of the business!

Probably none of these are perfect, but just throwing out ideas

Redlands
Red Range
Rustica
Scarlet Farm
Vine View Farm
Vintner's View
Red Valley Farm

Sorry yes I assumed they weren't yours.

Does it matter. Keep the name classy. Sounds better.

"Inspired by our beautiful surroundings, Vineyard Farm takes its name from the neighbouring local vineyards who have shaped much of our surrounding views. While you're staying with us, why not plan a trip to visit one of the outstanding vineyards in the area."

What area of the country are you in?

Hidegard · 14/02/2023 06:15

Imagine it as an address on a wedding invitation- wedding to be held at [name] [address]

I'd probably avoid having 'wedding' or 'event' in the name, personally, as to me it sounds a bit commercial, but that's a matter of personal taste.

Name of a red grape? sorry - I know nothing about wine, dont know any names or if you are even allowed to use them!

Name of a red bird? Redwing? there have been many around this winter. name of a red wood? Alder is reddish? Red oak? some willows are reddish, what trees are growing on your property?

MrsMikeDrop · 14/02/2023 06:21

I agree with not having wedding in the title. Could you keep in classy, also a word like, estate/manor/heights I get these aren't relevant but something like that. What's a classy version of a farm? Or maybe like VelvetWoods? I don't know but the name should conjure up some kind of feeling 😌

WombsofWimbledon · 14/02/2023 06:26

Skylark Barn? Nightingale Lodge.

It would help to know the general area.

I don't like the names with "red" in them; sounds un-wedding. Makes me think of red death, etc.

Is this in the UK?

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 14/02/2023 06:35

It would be helpful to know the bird name.

Robinwood

Trying to envision the juxtaposition of a red barn & Santa Fe vibe; the aesthetics are quite different. Can you tell us more?

The Red Wedding?

Sorry 😂

Augend23 · 14/02/2023 06:50

I'm assuming it's not in the UK because in the UK 4 hours away isn't local?!

I like vineyard farm when you explain like the PP did.

I don't think you want to call it anything with wedding in from the POV of invitations.

Mr John Smith and Miss Joanne Brown cordially invite you to their wedding on Xxth of Month 2023 at The Wedding Barn - doesn't have the same ring to it?

Starling...so can be considered a pest haha

It's an American style barn, not traditional English style.
I'll add a few older photos so you can get an idea of the style
