Need help to come up with a name for our home/wedding venue business!

I have a mental block when it comes to naming our new venture and thought I would get the wonderful Mumsnet hive mind to help!

Some back ground:

We have been asked if we would be interesting in hosting small weddings at our home and part of this involves creating social media pages for our property, we need something to refer to our property as, not just 'Sue and Gary's house'

This will potentially turn into a regular little money earner so I'm keen to get off to the best possible start and come up with a memorable name.

I'll give a description of our property:

Large red American barn style home.
Set on a small farm / lovely gardens.
Surrounded by vineyards.
Home interior has a slight Sante Fe aesthetic but mainly country / rustic style.

Our surname is that of a bird, so I have considered incorporating that somehow but it's not crucial.

The obvious name is something like 'The Red Barn' but there is already a wedding venue with that name in another area (about 4 hours away from us)

I like a name that conjures up a mental image...so something descriptive, red, barn, farm, bird etc...

Some of my ideas have been:

The Red Homestead
Red Barn
Red Barn Homestead
The Starling Barn
The Hitching Post (bit cheesy?)

I keep going round in circles and feel like there must be something better...any suggestions?

Do you have any notable trees or flowers growing in your gardens? I personally think nature names are beautiful.

Will people be able to have the ceremony outdoors in the garden? Could you focus on the garden part and have a name something like Starling/[ your surname bird is] Gardens?

WandaWonder · 14/02/2023 06:56

Maybe something tree species connected, or animals do you have small mammals visiting or anything?

It looks like a hall inside! Starling Hall?

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 14/02/2023 07:32

Very attractive.

I like one-word names for marketing.

Starlings. "Oh yes, we're booked into Starlings for our June wedding" "we've hired Starlings for our works Christmas do.." etc.

Go for upscale rather than twee.

To me it looks like an American equine barn/stables, not like a farm barn.

Clarabellawilliamson · 14/02/2023 07:40

Something to do with Flock or murmuration?

Clarabellawilliamson · 14/02/2023 07:40

I do like just 'starlings' though

mrsbyers · 14/02/2023 07:43

Starlings are annoying like birds , I associate weddings with graceful birds

Vineyard View is my favourite

Starling Hall sounds lovely. I'd want to go there for a wedding

Sunset6 · 14/02/2023 07:52

I still haven’t worked out if we are in New Mexico or West Sussex!
The Hacienda
Rosewood
Starling’s Hall

TrinnySmith · 14/02/2023 07:53

Red Oaks Barn
Cinnamon Hall
Cinnamon Barn
Old Elms Barn
Tudor Hall
Crimson Court

Climbles · 14/02/2023 07:57

Is there a flower you have a lot of in the garden?
Rose Barn
Bluebelle Barn
etc

Mmmmmmm12 · 14/02/2023 08:02

….. Ranch (for the American style)

helpnameaweddingvenue · 14/02/2023 08:26

Hmmm no there isn't really any particular flower / tree type that stands out on the property. Not enough to be significant at least.

I like the term 'Ranch' as others have mentioned.

I'm working on a short list of names now so once it's complied I'll post here and get everyone's feedback. This is very helpful thankyou, please keep the ideas coming!

It's been interesting reading that several posters don't like 'red' being used in the name.
I guess I always favour using 'red' in there somewhere as locals refer to our house as the red house and it's quite visible from the distance as the red pokes above the trees.

Red rose ranch ? Just chuck in a few red rose bushes lol

BookwormButNoTime · 14/02/2023 08:34

The tower thingy looks like a Dovecote.

The Dovecote
Dovecote Barn

Harebrain · 14/02/2023 08:34

The Homestead? A bit different but it infers comfort, safety and homeliness.

WeAreTheHeroes · 14/02/2023 08:40

If it's already referred to as the Red House then Red House Barn or Red House Farm? Keep it simple.

YukoandHiro · 14/02/2023 08:44

I think it matters if you're in the UK or US. Some words, eg "Robin", are far too twee for a ranch style setting but might work in Sussex

Cornishscrunchie · 14/02/2023 08:46

These types of buildings are nicknamed Red Roosters by older architects.

Anyway random fact of the day.

I would suggest...

"The Red Barn Estate"
"The Venue"
"The Barn at "Wherever you are"

😊

SoupDragon · 14/02/2023 08:52

locals refer to our house as the red house

call it The Red House then. Everyone will know where it is.

Cornishscrunchie · 14/02/2023 08:57

"The Red House Estate"

Sounds lovely. 😍

Cornishscrunchie · 14/02/2023 08:58

Actually "the red house estate" sounds like something Persimmon would build!

Cross that one off the list

Ariela · 14/02/2023 11:09

I was going to suggest Vinyard View or Vinyard Views, but see Vintners View already suggested and like that too.

I'd avoid anything 'Wedding' as that will restrict potential hires - you might get retirement parties or 75th birthday posh afternoon teas for example.

Bourbanbiscuit · 14/02/2023 12:08

Stargazer Hall or maybe
Stargazer Barn

clpsmum · 14/02/2023 12:37

How about surname barn?

Ie. Bluebird barn etc
