anyone else unable to get on with this 'trend' for hard shiny white/marble (faux marble?) floors?!

I'm too clumsy for a floor like that. Never mind toddlers, I'd need a helmet and padding.

Not to my taste but no doubt there is plenty in my house (and all of yours!) that people won't like.

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 03/02/2023 13:25

What's with the 'waiting room' chairs in the ski lodge summerhouse?

hettiethehare · 03/02/2023 13:26

That screams smashed phone screens to me. I prefer a wood floor/ carpet where my phone will bounce.

Fine in bathrooms and on worktops but otherwise, no.

agree

Lovely in a warm climate but definitely not for UK (even with underfloor heating!)

PatientlyWaiting21 · 03/02/2023 13:37

There’s an influencer who has basically decorated her home like this called westholme interiors. Awful!!

whattodo1975 · 03/02/2023 13:39

That house screams "we are getting a divorce and need to sell up".

InFiveMins · 03/02/2023 13:39

I think it looks nice but it does make me feel cold!

That house screams "we are getting a divorce and need to sell up".

Actually I think it's just screaming. Wordlessly.

That screams development property to me. They probably use the same furniture and accessories every time they flip a house and the same formula. It’s not welcoming but it will shift.

I scroll through RM occasionally to look at properties in towns that are reasonable areas for retirement and there was one town where it was very easy to see that the same developer had been used - one who had form for ripping out the interiors of lovely Victorian and Edwardian villas, painting them grey and installing the same cheap kitchen every time. They were houses I'd have loved to live in and rip out every 'improvement' this company had made.

hay5689 · 03/02/2023 13:44

Just looks like a blank canvas to me. I'd rather buy something that's easier to decorate to my taste as opposed to something that's colourful but not what I'd pick.

coralgeo · 03/02/2023 13:48

What a hideous house.

YesitsBess · 03/02/2023 12:50

Just looking at that house has hoovered my soul out through my eyes. A symphony of grey. Then SUDDENLY BED, followed by dead garden and surprisingly jolly ski lodge. A roller coaster!

Do some more I like this game 😁

😂

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 03/02/2023 12:52

There's obviously been a compromise there. One person (A) wanted cold, shiny and white/grey. The other (B) agreed on the condition that they could have their cosy cabin.

Over time, they grew apart as person B spent so much time in the cabin. Really, who could blame them. Meanwhile, A turned increasingly to drink - look at all the bottles in the living room. Perched on the edge of their hard, cold sofa in their hard, cold house, which they've grown to hate. However, pride won't let A join B in the cabin, even though A knows, deep down, that B really wishes they would.

Love this.

namechangeagain456 · 03/02/2023 13:52

I was wondering if its actually been renovated by builders and the furniture is staged and the summer house is just what is left from the previous owners?

WaddleAway · 03/02/2023 12:01

Not everyone owns loads of books. Some people do all their reading on a kindle or other device. Some people use the library. Others read books then pass them on. Some people (gasp!) don’t read at all.

They’re missing out!

And it still needs some art.

Fremdschämen · 03/02/2023 14:08

Don't like the tiles - very cold looking.

The non paved areas of the garden look water-logged, as though the garden may have an issue with drainage of surface water.

LadyDanburysHat · 03/02/2023 14:09

Those plain white walls are painful to look at when combined with the hard white floors.

I agree that those types of floor are great for hot countries but not the cold UK.

TiaraBoo · 03/02/2023 12:04

Is it a ‘trend’ as never seen it before and I do a lot of looking at Rightmove.

Around here it's what they put in high end new builds and I look at them and wonder how much cost and mess it would take to replace.

OneForTheRoadThen · 03/02/2023 14:18

I love that their ornaments are bottles of spirits 🤣

Notjusta · 03/02/2023 14:18

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 03/02/2023 13:25

What's with the 'waiting room' chairs in the ski lodge summerhouse?

Yes I wondered that too!

Totally agree with @YesitsBess a roller coaster ride of interior 'design'. Very exciting.

WTF is going on with the booze bottles lined up in that way under the TV?

MadisonAvenue · 03/02/2023 14:30

What’s going on with the dining table, not only does it not go with the rest of the decor but on my phone it looks like it’s got a Christmas table cloth on it - and a Poundland paper one at that.

ThePoshUns · 03/02/2023 14:34

Tacky

refreshingseahorse · 03/02/2023 14:35

The downstairs really reminds me of the end of 2001. It's my favourite film, but I wouldn't want to live in it.

ThePoshUns · 03/02/2023 14:38

The whole house is giving me the ick
