Please help me name my house

So as a change from all the “help me name my baby” threads please can you help me name my house. Just buying my forever home which is perfect except for the name which is a random one word that means nothing to me. It is a detached double fronted symmetrical brick house like a dolls house It is not grand but I think it is definitely a house not a cottage. lots of trees but not one obvious one so I cant call it an Oak House or Beech House Names I have considered and discarded are Fox house, pheasant house (because we have both) orchard house (ditto). Brick house. I want something solid and classic but not pretentious. Any suggestions would be grateful received. . It does not have a number.

How about Woodlands if you have various trees and an orchard

There are lovely old names for garden birds (And some slightly inappropriate ones). Same for things like hill or field. Many very regional.

Friends of mine named their house after a make of car they bought when they travelled in Oz (Kingswood)

Harmony House

Orchard Rest. Fox's Rest.

FrenchFancier · 07/01/2023 17:29

I would plant a tree or hardy plant and name it after that as it would be meaningful and stay with the house after you’ve gone. Eg cherry tree house or Jasmine cottage

excelledyourself · 07/01/2023 17:32

Haven House or The Haven

excelledyourself · 07/01/2023 17:33

Sorry, just saw someone suggested The Haven already.

Herejustforthisone · 07/01/2023 17:36

I saw a house once called ‘Luvitere’. May I strongly suggest you don’t name it that?

Petronus · 07/01/2023 17:38

Carduelis House (Latin for Goldfinch)

The Roses
Rose House

It sounds lovely - a bit like the children's programme PLAYSCHOOL house from years ago

If you are old enough to remember it 🙂🙂🙂🙂

Wakk · 07/01/2023 17:47

I would say the doll's house too

Orchard Rest. Fox's Rest.

Foxes rest sounds great

LBF2020 · 07/01/2023 18:01

Our house and many others on our road have the word thunder in them. In the 15th century the next valley over from us made cannons which when they went off sounded like thunder. Have a look at the local history and see if you can find something unique like that 😊

scottishnames · 07/01/2023 18:33

OP As others have said, you can't just do this. It needs official recording. Others have sent you the links.
If that does not take place, no online company - and even many others who work via post etc in the offline world - is going to accept your address as valid. The big databases of 'known' addresses are referred to by everyone for validation - from banks, utility companies etc downwards.
I'm not saying that this is right, but it is a fact. Over 20 years ago, we built a new house on a 'virgin' site. We did register the address, but even so, for years faced several address problems.

SoManyCreepyBears · 07/01/2023 18:36

Our house is named after a star which I think is lovely.
Had no idea what it meant until I googled it though!

I really like Fox Hole but I expect to be alone in that 😁

Freddiesextrateeth · 07/01/2023 18:39

I know someone who named there house after themselves. It was called "lynden". They were Lynda and Dennis. Still makes me chuckle !
I like The Dolls House.

Our house is called Two-ways, as it has 2 drives and can be accessed from 2 different roads, it’s down on the electoral register as that. It’s crap and I’ve reverted to the house number. Think I might change it to Bellendshere.

I find that pretty ghastly if I’m honest, much like the one I advised against ‘Luvitere’.
