£5m seems rather expensive and some of the decor is ok but overall it isn’t at all to my taste.

I love it, could quite happily move in there.

Although for £5m I'd have expected it to be a bit further up the road in Richmond/near the Thames. Lovely area.

I hope there's no stalky nutters reading this though!! You've basically put her address on here.

I'd LOVE to see the houses of some of the people slagging it off on this thread, I really would.

Overall, I think it's very nice. My favourite room is the downstairs cloakroom! Love a quirky wallpaper in the downstairs loo. I also really like the front door.

Well people have different taste, their taste is about as far away from my own taste as possible. I like light and bright rooms with natural material, theirs is quite the opposite and quite brash and dark with lots of plasticy man-made material. Thus not my style at all.

Maireas · 16/05/2022 17:16

Why are the ceilings so low? It's a big house, but I really don't like the feeling because of that. Too much grey, but if I was given it I wouldn't turn it down! Just re paint and tone down.

Here… been stc for a long time now and the buyers are holding on as they love it. Cannot find anything suitable.

I'm not selling it Grin I could possibly afford one of the outhouses. Purely an example to marvel at the prices of That London compared to etc etc.

Pumpkinstace · 16/05/2022 17:24

I love it.

I'm not a fan of Amanda by any stretch but I like the house.

Parpophone · 16/05/2022 17:24

Can you post some pictures of your house OP?

Then we can all be unnecessarily rude about it.

Lesperance · 16/05/2022 17:25

I like it, although not the mirrored bathroom tiles. The person who decorated it knows what they like. But I agree with the person who commented on the low ceilings, it's really odd. They must reduce the heating bill though.

FlibbertyGibbitt · 16/05/2022 17:29

“DON’T TOUCH THE DRUM !!!!!” Said Amanda to all visiting children

But it’s not a thread about OP’s house, or anyone else who has commented unfavourably on the decor. It’s a thread about Amanda Holden’s house. I doubt she’s going to read the thread or cry into her ugly B&Q mirror tiles that internet randoms don’t love her £5m asset.

Tryhard40 · 16/05/2022 17:30

Those two houses posted - I'm not keen on the first one, the one is Powys is stunning but....it's in wales (not saying parts of wales aren't beautiful but not really comparable).

Id still rather AH's - Or move the Powys one to another location (but then it'd be £10million)!

All the op said was that all the decor wasn't to her taste. That's not rude. The house is on the market so people can say what they like about it. Some people love it and some people don't. Isn't that true of all houses?

Bluetrews25 · 16/05/2022 17:32

It looks like the agent has used a weird lens as things are not quite the right shape. To make things look wider?
Is she leaving the country? <innocent face>

Nanny0gg · 16/05/2022 17:34

I'd hate to either be her housekeeper (all those cushions!) or her cleaner.

Nor would I want her heating bill unless it's underfloor as well.

Favouritefruits · 16/05/2022 17:35

It’s not my cup of tea, but I don’t think it’s overpriced.

I haven’t been rude about it? I said it wasn’t to my taste - that isn’t being rude!

How do you know it's her house?

There are articles about it in several highly reputable publications so I assume her PR team has released it and looking for the publicity!

Never knew she lived down the road from me

Stealth boast or humble brag? Grin

AppleKatie · 16/05/2022 17:44

I like parts of it. Although it isn’t just the loo that looks like a gastro pub.

the garden is lovely.

Infinitemoon · 16/05/2022 17:50

I think it's beautiful. It isn't my style and it wouldn't fit my introverted personality, even if I suddenly acquired that sort of cash, but it suits Amanda Holden.

The area is very lovely indeed but yes, different world (there is a Waitrose in Abergavenny though!)

Horses for courses and we all want different things. My brother (very good taste but embraces the modern) once said of a house I'd moved in to and found a bit blank, "Don't worry Sis, you'll soon turn it into a Victorian hellhole"

HerculesMulligan · 16/05/2022 17:52

This is the sort of competition in that area: search.savills.com/property-detail/gbrirsris200197

I live nearby and with that sort of money, I'd always go for something period rather than newbuild.

Wowsers! @HerculesMulligan. Now that is just the ticket!

Luculentus · 16/05/2022 18:00

I wonder why it's been recently refurbished if it was going to be resold anyway? If I were buying (which I definitely couldn't) I'd want to do an almost complete refurb of my own so all the new stuff would just go to waste.
