£5m seems rather expensive and some of the decor is ok but overall it isn’t at all to my taste.

@Purpleavocado i also noticed the multiple steeply gold sandals 😅

I quite like it - lovely exterior, bags of kerb appeal and more than enough room to swing a few cats. Love the doors opening off the bar area.

I’d imagine anyone with £5m to spend on a house will be able to afford to renovate to their taste. & to cover heating bills and the endless maintenance (my absolute worst 😵‍💫)

AiryFairy1 · 16/05/2022 16:50

*strappy sandals

Manekinek0 · 16/05/2022 16:51

I love looking at house listings, especially for houses I will never be able to afford! Some of the art deco style details are nice, I love the handles on the kitchen cabinets.

I can't imagine cleaning those mirrored tiles! Her cleaner must get a good workout buffing them up.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 16/05/2022 16:55

I think it's lovely! Agree about the loo but that's the only room I'd change.

Snoken · 16/05/2022 16:56

SpeckledlyHen · 16/05/2022 16:25

Couldn't agree more.. There is nothing particularly tacky or cheap about the decor and it definitely is not B&Q tat.. whilst it may not be to everyone's taste or style there is no need to slag it off so enthusiastically especially when most people doing so couldn't afford one of the light fittings...

Having good taste or style has nothing to do with how much money you have. Her house looks like it's been decorated by somebody from The Real Housewives of Cheshire, and they are not the classiest people in the world, regardless of being rich. It's just has that blingy, cheap look to it which most renowned interior designers shy away from.

😂😂😂 👍

Decor is too dark for my taste. I'd want more for £5 mill tbh (I'm too used to northern prices!)

Do they have to take all those cushions off the bed every night and put them all back in the morning? What's the point?

Mirrored tiles aside I could probably deign to live there once some of the furniture was removed. And the massive photo of herself on the piano. Happy to class the bar as fixtures and fittings though 😃

Whatwaswrongwiththatusername · 16/05/2022 17:05

I really do t quite know what to make of that house! I mean some of it is incredibly awful, I got a visceral stomach churn at the site of that mirrored bathroom, especially that horrible silver bath tub! And the wallpapers! Honestly, it looks ok from the outside but it's just so 'cold' looking inside. I like the space itself (mostly, although it's too open for me I think), and I'd love to have all that space for those huge sofas but £5m? Absolutely not! We have similar houses locally, for up to that kind of price, but one that size and in similar sized grounds would probably be a couple of million below that. There's a couple on my road similar sized, and slightly bigger, but I think the highest prices in this part of the city are maybe £3m at most. Not that it matters to me though, as I certainly couldn't afford any of them! There's a massive difference between my side of the road and the other, though!

(Disclaimer: I lived in the same place as AH when I was younger, and she was one or two years above, and I didn't like her p, even then she was very full of herself, so I am still probably biased about her house too 😆)

Bearsan · 16/05/2022 17:07

I like about 70% of it.

SoupDragon · 16/05/2022 17:07

the ceiling height is far too low for me. I couldn't get past that TBH.

Whatwaswrongwiththatusername · 16/05/2022 17:07

So sorry for no formatting there! There were paragraphs when I posted. Also, I should have proofread because the mistakes and typos in the first line alone are embarrassing. I promise, I am actually literate!

Tryhard40 · 16/05/2022 17:08

I'd LOVE to see the houses of some of the people slagging it off on this thread, I really would.

Overall, I think it's very nice. My favourite room is the downstairs cloakroom! Love a quirky wallpaper in the downstairs loo. I also really like the front door.

zafferana · 16/05/2022 17:09

Lovely location, lovely house, pity about the decor. It looks like she paid an interior decorator a shit ton to do it for her, but it just looks naff IMO. I hate all the dark grey walls and units - very gloomy - and I agree with the gatropub toilet affect in the bathrooms.

yesthatisdrizzle · 16/05/2022 17:10

Not all that keen on those mirrored tiles in the bathroom, and the kitchen doesn't look very homely or like it gets used as a kitchen much, but other than that, I've surprised myself because I quite like it.

LouisCatorze · 16/05/2022 17:11

Yes, it has a 'Hamptons' vibe about it. Not loving it. It's rather bland.

Mummyoflittledragon · 16/05/2022 17:12

I really like the look of the house but the external doesn’t suit the now dated looking interior. There has been a definite break between the bling on the early 2000s and now.

80sMum · 16/05/2022 17:12

It looks nice from the outside and the garden looks nice and sunny, albeit a bit too small for the size of the house and rather lacking in interesting features.

The interior decor is not to my taste. To me, it doesn't look at all welcoming or cosy or calming. So doesn't tick any of my boxes.

And for me and DH, it's far too big. I would be nervous of having so much space, as I know only too well that we'd fill it up with junk before very long!

Jmaho · 16/05/2022 17:12

It's very Amanda Holden

genuinely can’t stand her, but I tend not to slag off houses that are arguably better than mine. Ain’t no one going to pay five million for mine. So….🤷‍♀️

CrispsnDips · 16/05/2022 17:12

WOW! She has the same sofa as me but hers is navy and mine is olive green - feel proud now ☺️

megletthesecond · 16/05/2022 17:13

It looks like it's been furnished by The Range. All that money and it looks cheap.

SpringCalling · 16/05/2022 17:15

@Hilites how could you have missed all the fuss when the local gossip had it her nanny had been held up by robbers on motorbikes? Turns out it was nothing to do with AH, but that's how I learnt she lived here!

BerthaLovelock · 16/05/2022 17:16

I don’t understand people complaining about criticising the house Confused . I’m not keen on the decor of Buckingham Palace, either. It has nothing to do with envy or whether you do or don’t have £5m sloshing around. Lots on this thread do seem to like it, so that’s fine. Everyone has their own style (or in my case, no style at all - but I still reserve the right to say I don’t care for something!)
