Is this the cheapest area in the uk to buy a 3 bed detached? Just can't believe how much house you get for your money!

Round my way you'd have change from 100,000. A 3 bed semi with a smaller garden would be £70,000

OakPine · 22/06/2021 21:09

Doesn't exist in Central Edinburgh. If it did it would be (guessing) 700-800k, probably more with that large garden. Edinburgh inner suburbs 500k. Edinburgh commutable outer suburbs 300-400k.

WarmAndFluff · 22/06/2021 22:40

SW London - well over £1 million as others have said, but I know someone who bought a house in Wales for 50K!

KingdomScrolls · 22/06/2021 22:45

£700-£800k depending on school catchment! With a seaview rather than the countryside probably more

Roonerspismed · 22/06/2021 22:47

It’s a lovely setting. Probably £250 where I am.

Ayrshire is nice actually. Underrated. But I don’t know Patna!

Gosh if we all bought a place there it could become the first Mumsnet village !!!

Ayrshire, like most other places, has lovey areas and not so lovely areas. For Ayrshire South Ayr, Seafield, Doonfoot, Alloway, Largs, Skelmorlie, parts of prestwick and Troon top the list with Bellsbank, Patna, Rankinston, Ayr North, parts of Kilmarnock, Three towns etc nearer the bottom.

These areas have greatly suffered with lack of economy, poor public transport links, antisocial behaviour etc. Patna primary was branded weak by inspectors pre pandemic.

I found three properties for sale near me when I searched for 3 bed detached. Two are over £360k. The third is only £275k, but on closer inspection it is a plot with planning permission.
I'm on the east coast of Scotland.

Lol @HeronLanyon

Don’t forget the strict fence maintenance protocol that must be strictly adhered to, with accompanying sisterly fence inspections!

CorianderBee · 23/06/2021 09:37

In excess of £1.4million.

SW London, Z2

aggathapanthus · 23/06/2021 09:42

£170/80 k here, NW coast.
Some of the prices quoted for SE are incredible, it’s not a big house! How on earth does anyone on an average wage ever manage to buy in those areas?
