Is this the cheapest area in the uk to buy a 3 bed detached? Just can't believe how much house you get for your money!

I live in Dumfries and Galloway, not that far away from this house, and a house that size around here would probably go £150-£200k. Its really lovely, but I wonder if it is so cheap because all nearby towns and villages are quite run down.

HeronLanyon · 22/06/2021 08:02

Can’t achieve a garden like that here and the view would need to be over a garden square - would be terraced and unlikely to have parking but that space 3-4 million +. Very central London.
Off to see what Patna is all about.

MizMoonshine · 22/06/2021 08:04

£250 at least, Cardiff.

UpTheJunktion · 22/06/2021 08:07

S London, in an area where there is no such thing as a detached 3 bed.

5 bed detached with a garden and drive is £850k . It’s a nicer house too (Edwardian) and 0.2 m from a good station, nice park on the road.

3 bed semi (with drive and nice garden with trees) 0.6 m from station, also a nicer house IMO, £625k.

Quick google street view - far more neat and tidy than the ‘run down’ comments led me to think it would be. Looks kind of plonked remotely with very little for kids (or adults) to actually do/go etc. But horses for courses.

bunnypenny · 22/06/2021 08:43

@Iminaglasscaseofemotion

There's a reason for that. It's in Patna 🤣
haha that's exactly what i was going to say - it's Patna! no wonder it's cheap!
bunnypenny · 22/06/2021 08:48

@Cheeseandbiscuits1

That house you linked to on Racecourse View, i'm fairly sure is a footballer's house - it's been on the market for a v long time. I grew up about 2mins walk from there :)

FastFood · 22/06/2021 08:56

Around £700 - 800k in my corner of SE London.

RaspberryCoulis · 22/06/2021 09:01

£275k to £300k. Glasgow suburb.

Patna is a very "nothingy" place. There is literally nothing there apart from houses and a primary school. Also remember that offers over means just that - you'd probably still be able to buy that house for less than £150k, but more than £110k.

And the third "bedroom" is tiny.

PandemicPalava · 22/06/2021 09:04

Upwards of 400k in my village

TableNiner · 22/06/2021 09:06

I reckon £2million in my area of north London, though you wouldn’t have the open space, probably a yard

Isit7yet · 22/06/2021 09:07

Nine miles from Ayr but may as well be a hundred! Lots of social problems in Patna. Can't imagine many people have ever moved to Patna willingly

emmathedilemma · 22/06/2021 11:23

Probably in the region of £450k although there's older properties in need of complete renovation on for more, but they have scope for extension / expansion which most buyers seem to do if the number of builder's vans in the neighbourhood is anything to go by!

TheMarzipanDildo · 22/06/2021 11:27

£300k-£350 ish. Cheshire.

SwimBaby · 22/06/2021 12:18

575-625 ish
South East.

ClutchesPearlsAndFaints · 22/06/2021 12:21

@vickyq1983

650 ish I reckon. That's in the coastal town of Sandgate, Kent
@vickyq1983 I think more , £750+ is my guess , you have the beach there plus the surrounding towns & villages with all their quirks , Canterbury is close., You have the fast train to London too and you (when allowed) can get to France quickly for lunch or a day trip Although that view is amazing
Blossomtoes · 22/06/2021 12:25

It’s not really three bed, it’s two bed and a box room. The views are amazing but it’s really poky. It would be about £325/350k here in north Cambridgeshire.

Insertfunnyname · 22/06/2021 12:26

Channel Islands.

About £1 million

Not U.K. tho sorry

ApolloandDaphne · 22/06/2021 12:28

Patna is grim according to my Ayrshire born DH.

Bells3032 · 22/06/2021 12:30

about £600k London/herts border

umberellaonesie · 22/06/2021 12:33

130-150k
Patna is one of the most deprived areas of Scotland. As is a huge proportion of South and East ayrshire

DustyMaiden · 22/06/2021 12:37

750 k Essex

majesticallyawkward · 22/06/2021 12:40

I'm not familiar with the area, but I'm in County Durham and you could buy something of similar size and quality for around that price but the views wouldn't be as pretty.

RaspberryCoulis · 22/06/2021 12:42

@ApolloandDaphne

Your DH isn't wrong.

If it wasn't grim, the house would be at least £50k more, probably £100k more.

riotlady · 22/06/2021 12:47

200kish here I think, Northumberland
