So next week is June and the date is looming large! Wiltshire council are being particularly slow and searches not due back till 14th. Offer accepted early March.

36 days and counting between me moving house and a new kitchen and me moving house and saving hard to buy a kitchen in about 2 years time.

Anyone else being to feel the desperation kicking in just to all it all done and dusted!

Still no enquiries through from our buyers solicitor! It’s so painful.

coffeequeenindevon · 01/06/2021 11:00

Same here @Cocoaone. No talk of exchange date but I’m packing this week as off for half term.

Panda368 · 01/06/2021 11:11

So we have had some slight movement this morning. We have heard from our sellers that they can do any time the week of the 14th so I have looped back to send this further down the chain.

We still need some documents from them - 1 for probate for one of the previous owners / 1 deed of grant for the leasehold or whatever that is..

I am worried that something is going on with our buyers sale that will hold things up I've just got a bad feeling.

SpnBaby1967 · 01/06/2021 14:00

Oh, good lord, June is here already 😳

Spoke to our solicitor today, buyers are making more enquiries of the usual utter nonsense that really doesnt matter which is ironic as the buyer is badgering us to exchange. Well then buyer, get your bloody solicitor to stop nitpicking and get it done!

Hopefully tomorrow will exchange, no chance for today.

Still aiming for 25th June..

Dinosauraddict · 01/06/2021 16:26

We're still down to the last 2 enquiries. I am getting so bloody annoyed. Exchange definitely not happening today now. I don't think tomorrow looks likely either.

HumourReplacementTherapy · 01/06/2021 20:06

We are also aiming for 25th June.
We're in rented as we sold ours in March and broke the chain so we won't be moving on completion day, too stressful!
Still, I'd like to move the following monday and our removal company only has one van and crew left so they won't confirm until we exchange Sad
We moved ourselves last time (it was up against the last SDLT deadline and we couldn't get a removal company) 6 bed house over 4 floors. Nearly killed DH & DS.

FerretFumbler · 01/06/2021 20:17

I’ve dealt with buyer’s exchanges and mine have been sent to the seller. Awaiting a response.
Will we make it?? Crossing everything but no idea. Can’t get anything out of solicitor and don’t want to bug him in case he moves us further down the pile!
Wishing everyone luck!

Dinosauraddict · 02/06/2021 04:38

@FerretFumbler that's not a bad position with 4 weeks to go - particularly if the chain doesn't need a particularly large gap between exchange and completion.

Related note - AHHHH 4 weeks today is SDLT deadline...!!!

I'm giving the chain until lunchtime today and then I am going into full 'I don't care, just make this happen' mode!

Cocoaone · 02/06/2021 06:10

That sounds promising FerretFumbler!

I am hoping our local search is back today. I'm not anticipating any issues (we know the area)

However, it's just occurred to me that the house we're buying is probate, which has been granted, but I'm assuming that it might add an extra layer of 'stuff' to exchange etc - not least because our solicitor is old skool paper-based only and there are two separate siblings who need to sign everything

Panda368 · 02/06/2021 08:23

We had an ominous update yesterday regarding our buyers sale.

When pushed their solicitor said they cannot agree completion as there are 'still outstanding matters being investigated at this time'

So does this mean its going to be 6 weeks or 1 week? FFs.

I've gone back to both our Solicitor and Agent saying we need some reassurance on what timescale we are looking at.

Dinosauraddict · 02/06/2021 08:42

That is so frustrating @Panda368 - it's vague enough to cover a multitude of potential sins!

Didicat · 02/06/2021 09:38

For some reason now we are in June, I actually feel a bit calmer (maybe resigned to it might not happen).

The wait for the local searches is so painful now! Roll on the 14th when is will either be the rush is on or a total bust!!

How local is a local search ie would it be the same for everyone in the village?

SpnBaby1967 · 02/06/2021 11:44

We're ready to exchange, as are our sellers.

When I speak to the buyer he says hes ready to exchange, yet his solicitor keeps throwing up barriers of nonsense despite his instructions. I've called him and said he needs to get his solicitor on to mine to confirm all is okay and to exchange. If they do that quick it can happen today.

But I wont hold my breath. Tomorrow wouldn't be a disaster but it's one more day into June I'd rather not have.

Dinosauraddict · 02/06/2021 17:00

Just heard we won't now be exchanging until Friday! :(

Panda368 · 02/06/2021 19:29

So far we have had no further updates or further information about the “investigations” that are going on at the bottom of the chain.
I’ve now been chased by our sellers agents about completion dates as they want to complete sharpish and had to tell them we have had some surprise bottom of chain issues.

It’s all so fucking annoying. How is the bottom of the chain not ready to go? I’m sure our buyers sold in mid February. We only had the offer accepted on our purchase in early April so I don’t know what the hell they have been doing with the extra 6 weeks they have had to dick about with..

Cocoaone · 02/06/2021 20:04

@Dinosauraddict - That means you can still complete before the end of the month though, right?

@Panda368 That sounds so annoying. They haven't even told you if it's a big issue, or if they're just waiting to receive a signed form etc?

Cocoaone · 02/06/2021 20:05

We did not receive our local searches back today Sad

Dinosauraddict · 02/06/2021 21:07

@Cocoaone - sorry you haven't had your searches back yet, it's so frustrating waiting on things outside your control. We're hoping/intending/praying for 18th June completion, just feels like an extra hurdle keeps getting added every time we think we're there.

@Panda368 I would be making a right nuisance of myself until someone gave me a proper explanation!

Panda368 · 02/06/2021 21:32

@Dinosauraddict oh I am planning on it.

I’m really unimpressed with our buyers communication on this. I’ve been doing a weekly update and chasing our agent each week for updates on where they are up to.

Other than getting in contact to request a price reduction they have given no unasked for updates or been in any way open at any point.

My agents and sellers agents are probably sick of me but I feel like I’ve been killing myself to get us over the line and chasing up and down the line every week and now who knows what’s going on.

Part of me wants to tell them that if we don’t complete in June we don’t complete at all but we desperately want the house we are buying so risking cutting off my nose to spite my face is really not appealing.

Cocoaone · 02/06/2021 21:52

@Panda368 my husband is the king of cutting off his nose to spite his face. Luckily, he's mentally prepared that we won't hit the deadline, so I won't have to manage him as well as the agents/solicitors etc Smile

StrongTeaDropOfMilkNoSugar · 02/06/2021 22:33

We’re ready to exchange and have tentatively agreed 22nd June as our completion date. If it all goes through, we won’t be able to move in until the following week as our removal company are all booked up (our stuff is in storage as we sold our place and moved to an Airbnb last month).

Keeping everything crossed nothing goes wrong now and just want to exchange so we can sort out removals, building insurance, etc!

Gettingonabitnow · 03/06/2021 06:49

Hi ladies. The stress hey! Our chain nearly collapsed yesterday and still may, I’ve been crying non stop. Just so cruel, something totally unexpected too.

@Cocoaone sometimes there is a number on the local authority website re searches, I would give them a call and see where it is up to.

Good luck everyone x

TheFunBus · 03/06/2021 06:58

We have made a fuck up in that I filled in the furniture and fittings form (with dp) but on the side, dp has been talking to the EA and buyer and negotiated a price for stuff we had already agreed was included! The buyer's solicitor is working v slowly so has only just now produced a list of queries (most of which are why did you say this was included in your price when your dp didn't fgs!).

Have emailed them back but still hoping they can exchange and complete by the end of the month as we have booked the stuff to be picked up and put in storage on the 21st! ARGH!

Cocoaone · 03/06/2021 07:17

@Gettingonabitnow How awful! Is there a hope it can be saved? I'll keep everything crossed for you, the stress is just unbearable isn't it?
I can't see a number on our local council site, although it does say they should be done within 10 working days and we're now on 20 Hmm
I'll call our solicitor tomorrow if I don't hear anything before, but I can tell he doesn't like being chased and I don't want him to put us at the bottom of the pile...

@TheFunBus Oh no! This is the sort of thing that would happen to us! Hopefully it's a very quick remedy though

Gettingonabitnow · 03/06/2021 08:04

@Cocoaone I honestly don’t know. I’ve done all my crying, I even drew up a list of the bad points about our dream house to help console myself 🤦‍♀️ Should know today.

@TheFunBus oh god!! What a total pain.
