So next week is June and the date is looming large! Wiltshire council are being particularly slow and searches not due back till 14th. Offer accepted early March.

36 days and counting between me moving house and a new kitchen and me moving house and saving hard to buy a kitchen in about 2 years time.

Anyone else being to feel the desperation kicking in just to all it all done and dusted!

Chain of 3 houses and on the cusp of exchanging and hoping to complete 8th June, 6 months after we accepted offer- bucking the trend with a mid week as removals already very busy on Fridays in June. LA searches taking forever and a day so we’ve taken an indemnity out on them and if they come back in time then great- we are moving locally so know the area and not expecting anything out of the blue - she hopes ! Fingers and toes are firmly crossed. Good luck everyone else playing stamp duty roulette next month.

Didicat · 28/05/2021 19:56

Part of me is thankful we are hiring a van and moving ourselves and will have a a few weeks to get everything out of the rental. We will aim for exchange and completion on the same day if possible.

So fed up of the whole process

@Vikingmama79 I didn’t realise you could get an indemnity against searches? We need some to come back too, that’s interesting to know x

Ccoffee217 · 28/05/2021 20:29

We are hiring a van and doing ourselves. Dh is going to dissemble some of our IKEA furniture (god help us) and we'll pack both cars with as much as possible as well. Think we don't have huge amounts of stuff as DS is still young but I would recommend giving it a try anyone who can't get a removal company to help in time!

What a stressful time we find ourselves in, I'm thankful for this post for bringing us all together 😀

Vikingmama79 · 28/05/2021 22:28

@Gettingonabitnow yes so def worth a look, not all lenders accept them but ours have thank goodness as our LA running at about 10 weeks- not entirely sure why such delays given as far as I’m aware they have not lost any staff and have worked as normal throughout Covid.

SpnBaby1967 · 29/05/2021 10:19

We're hiring a van & moving ourselves. Roped in our body builder friend to help with the heavy lifting so should be okay. Bit worrying as I'm in hospital a few days before for a procedure so wont be allowed to do anything strenuous......yeah, a real shame that 😄

Might do a bit more packing today. Nothing major, just those awkward cupboards with stuff you hardly use but cant get rid off.

maybeshesawomble · 29/05/2021 14:38

I’m tempting fate and have started packing. We are moving most of our stuff to storage and going to rented so I need sorting time which I don’t have much of in June.

Gettingonabitnow · 29/05/2021 14:52

I feel like next week is going to be an important week for things to happen. For us at least. I think if our chain doesn’t fix dates next we won’t meet the end of June.

Finallygrowingup · 29/05/2021 23:03

Agree. Everything pretty much depends on this week. We have escalated our concerns of sellers solicitors pretty much lying and saying they have sent docs to the senior solicitors. Hoping that makes an impact. Getting so anxious now.

Luckily (or unluckily) we dont have any furniture to move with, just garden furniture and a desk but it will mean we have nothing to literally sit on when we move. So long as we complete I domt even care.

Also any reccomendations on where to buy sofa's?

Didicat · 30/05/2021 11:58

@Finallygrowingup I’d just get something cheap and cheerful off fb market place until you decide colour scheme etc.....

I am actually annoyed at it being a BH today as I know absolutely nothing will be progressed. We don't have many days to spare! Confused I am going to be majorly chasing come lunchtime tomorrow. Today I'm focusing on yet more packing and a tip run to get rid of more crap.

Gettingonabitnow · 31/05/2021 06:38

@Dinosauraddict ha I am too, the only time I wish the bank holiday would hurry up so I can get back to stressing and chasing someone! 😂

maybeshesawomble · 31/05/2021 06:44

@Dinosauraddict that’s exactly my day too. Wondering how quietly I can load the car. Want to crack on but not wake the entire street!

Two very restless nights here. It’s going to be a long week.

Cocoaone · 31/05/2021 07:06

I spoke to our solicitor on Friday who said he's just waiting for the final (local) search. He applied on 5th May, so he's expecting it to be any day now.
I'm really hoping there's nothing major that comes up, he doesn't think there will be, so hopefully minimal enquiries from that.

Other searches are done, mortgage is in place, survey done. We will exchange and complete on the same day if necessary, but I need to get my cash out of premium bonds which that takes a few days.

Our house sale is also nearly there - their searches are back already, we've answered all their enquiries, their survey has been done and no problems, so they are just waiting on some paperwork to sort their mortgage.
Slightly concerned they'll be ready before us! We don't need ours sold in order to purchase the new one, so we were hoping for at least a few weeks between the two so we can move ourselves in a bit more of a leisurely pace. But looking less likely now

Livingintheclouds · 31/05/2021 09:01

@Ccoffee217 thanks. The new house not nearly as good a location as last one but it has already been extended and bigger garden so ok with it.
Anyway I finally exchanged Friday on my sale, move date June 11. Packers coming June 10 and loading June 11 and I've got my cleaner following them from room to room to clean. Stuff going to storage we are going to hotel, dogs and son going to girlfriend's. We said good bye to our bunnies yesterday they have gone to live on a farm and my daughter was happy to see that they will have a huge new place to explore.
Have to say so far my solicitor has been great. I've used her about half a dozen times and she warned me how chancy it was to try and make the June 30 deadline, but is doing her best and looked up the land registry details immediately and reviewed drains search straight away in case something came up for surveyor. I live 70 miles away from house so can't easily go check things out (there was a question about the back access too). EA seems on board to make things happen and is on top of the seller making sure he gets stuff to his solicitor - basically everyone just doing what they are paid to do but as we all know there are millions of reasons why they don't!
Today is my son's day - we go through all his stuff to see what he wants to keep, chuck or sell.

Panda368 · 31/05/2021 10:32

In what order do I even begin to start packing?

My current plan is :
-Box up all books and take to MIL garage
-Take down bookshelves + fill wall holes from where they have been bolted in
-take all pictures and mirrors off walls and pack away in bubble wrap

Partner has now decided instead of moving ourselves he wants to get movers so I will have to sort that otherwise he will leave it too late - part of me things we are already too late and everywhere is going to be booked up.

I’m considering resorting to threats to get an exchange / completion date agreed because it’s impossible to get more than 1/2 days off work at the moment without solid levels of notice.

Does anyone have any expierence of how you arrange getting a house that has never had WiFi linked to WiFi? Will they have to come dig up the road to lay fibre or anything or can we just use the phone line?

JaffacakeJanine · 31/05/2021 11:08

We've been waiting for ours since September, we are totally chain free too. It's an absolute joke how long it's taking! We have had searches completed since January, have been waiting on seller's solicitors and the freeholder since then for getting a basement included in our lease, which finally progressed last week and has been expedited to HM Land Registry. HOPEFULLY that'll be coming back soon (due 7th June) and we can get on with our life. Is exchange & completion possible in a few weeks?!

It is so stressful! Still have no idea when completion will actually be. Feel like crying most days because of the uncertainty of it all. We have also been half packed since January as we really didn't think it would be taking this long! Our living room looks like a box fort!

Livingintheclouds · 31/05/2021 11:14

@Panda368 I strongly recommend packers. Ours is a four bed four reception house and they are charging just £140+ VAT to pack. And I wouldn't bother filling in holes unless they are massive (or you have told the buyers you will make good).
I have my movers a couple tentative dates. They priced up the job but would not confirm it until I had exchanged. First movers only told me after three or four exchanges of emails that they weren't packing due to covid, luckiky the next lot will.

Panda368 · 31/05/2021 11:39

@Livingintheclouds I would love that. Not sure we will even manage movers at this point though so need to make start anyway!

What kind of quotes are people getting for movers these days? We have a 3 bed/ 2 reception end terrace. Parter seems to think we will be looking at about £5-600 but I’m not so sure...

SpnBaby1967 · 31/05/2021 17:10

We are praying for exchange next week. All that's left is confirmation thay our buyers are happy with the indemnity (we know they are as we spoke to them, but their solicitor needs to tell ours) and that our solicitor is happy with the indemnity our sellers are getting as they cant find the warranty paperwork.

Once that is done, all is left is exchange and a completion date of 25th June.

Still packing a few bits here and there, did the glass wear today bar a couple of wine glasses.

Is anyone else running in to the issue of wanting to pack, but have nowhere to actually put the stuff once packed?

Livingintheclouds · 31/05/2021 18:58

@Panda368 no they will not dig up your street just for you. My friend was last house and they wanted thousands to extend it to hers. So though the phone line it is.
As for moving costs I have a big house (four beds, four reception) but am not taking most of my furniture, but I have tons of stuff; for example about 50 paintings. They think four containers worth (as they are storing it for a month). They are charging £540+ VAT to move it to their storage facility and £140+ VAT to pack. The next leg is to take it 70 miles up to London (including ferry) as well as the contents of a 50sqft storage unit. That leg is £1000+ VAT. So I think for your size your partners guesstimate is accurate, and may well be cheaper.

coffeequeenindevon · 01/06/2021 08:18

It’s June!!!!!!

And breathe.

Ccoffee217 · 01/06/2021 08:32

@coffeequeenindevon my thinking too first thing this morning! Good luck for this month everyone!

Panda368 · 01/06/2021 08:41

I've just sent my emails to Agents and Solicitor this morning saying essentially if we don't have a date agreed by end of the week its not happening. I need a weeks notice to book time off, plus booking movers...

I think i will be chasing people every 2 days at this rate to get everything sorted. I want to put all the pressure further down the chain.

My partner has already muttered darkly about not cleaning if we complete in June... I cant say I agree with him but paying out more to get a proper cleaner if they cost us an extra 4k will definitely leave a bitter taste.

Cocoaone · 01/06/2021 10:23

@SpnBaby1967 - same! I've packed all the stuff we don't use regularly, but running out of space to put the boxes! We haven't even had an exchange date discussed - but I'm nothing if not optimistic

@Panda368 - yeah sod the cleaning. Do the bare minimum...
