Support thread - the countdown to June 30th.... will we /won’t we make it???

So next week is June and the date is looming large! Wiltshire council are being particularly slow and searches not due back till 14th. Offer accepted early March.

36 days and counting between me moving house and a new kitchen and me moving house and saving hard to buy a kitchen in about 2 years time.

Anyone else being to feel the desperation kicking in just to all it all done and dusted!

@gelatodipistacchio sorry you are having such a rotten time of it as well.

Thank you everyone.

@Didicat I had the call to say keys were ready at 11am

I'm moving out of rented and still need to give notice so there is no big rush for me. can imagine how stressful it is to complete and move on the same day

Panda368 · 25/06/2021 21:52

@Didicat that is the absolute worst luck! How bloody awful

cafedesreves · 25/06/2021 21:56

Hi all you are my people. I have had the time from hell and looks like we will now complete on Wednesday after months of sleepless nights.

Have you tried Shiply.com? Loads of removals available there.

cafedesreves · 25/06/2021 21:56

And best best best of to you all

gelatodipistacchio · 25/06/2021 22:37

@Didicat that's dreadful. Hang in there.

Didicat · 25/06/2021 23:18

@gelatodipistacchio just hoping our solicitors can sort something out quickly. I am so fed up of feeling stressed.

Fingers crossed, @Didicat. When we signed the contracts on our chain, it clearly stated we could not hold up the exchange due to Covid-19. Hopefully, you will have something similar?

Other than that, can you get the exchange done to account for the stamp holiday and license/rent out your new place to the owners for two weeks?

Good luck. Like everything else since 2020, Covid jumps in with a curve ball.

Fingers crossed for everyone over this weekend.

Gettingonabitnow · 26/06/2021 05:36

Oh @Didicat that is rotten luck. There has to be a clause built in somewhere I’m sure. Perhaps even it is that you complete on time but they stay on the extra two days until end of isolation? I’m sorry that is so crap x

coffeequeenindevon · 26/06/2021 09:57

Really sorry to hear that @Didicat. Terrible timing.

Gettingonabitnow · 26/06/2021 11:12

@Didicat I’m probably thinking the worst in people here but, have they shown proof of a positive pcr test, by email perhaps? I’d want to see one to check they weren’t stalling for extra moving time.

FerretFumbler · 26/06/2021 18:21

@Didicat oh no!
Hopefully there is a clause and it hasn’t all gone tits up for you!

Unsure33 · 26/06/2021 19:42

@Didicat

for different reasons we have a licence to occupy even though we have completed on our sale - can you solicitors not arrange that for you ?

Didicat · 26/06/2021 19:48

@Unsure33 that’s is what we are hoping for, luckily we are in a rental but messing up my husbands holidays as 3 days will be completely wasted!

@coffeequeenindevon
No the seller withdrew the house from the market, but due to the fact we have completed on my own sale and my daughter starts school in September (70 miles from here) we have to move. I have found another house (we are at the 'it will do' point), and my solicitor, who is obviously trying to get her other clients over the deadline, has done her best to get the ball rolling. She's requested searches, looked up land registry to check out any boundary issues, emailed property info forms and all other info passed on from seller solicitors. The house is empty, owners have moved abroad. Meanwhile I've booked a holiday let for two weeks from mid July (when my current one ends) at the mind boggling cost of £2800. I live in a prime holiday destination so unfortunate timing that it's summer and everyone is staycationing.
I reckon the first and second houses falling through has cost me over £24,000 in lost stamp duty relief, survey and lawyers fees, extra storage costs, travelling costs to keep viewing houses, and temporary housing. This last house is £20k cheaper than the first house, but it's because its not in as good a location. Houses are getting more expensive but my budget was shrinking and I'm lucky I found the house I did (it has small amount of Japanese knotweed, which put last buyers off and house was back on slightly below market value).

Panda368 · 27/06/2021 16:51

3 more sleeps folks.

However it goes in the end I cannot wait for this week to be over.

Gettingonabitnow · 27/06/2021 17:01

@Panda368 same. It’s a big week for us, we’ve missed the stamp duty relief now, but we will know if we will get our dream house or if it’s going to drag on out of our control x

gelatodipistacchio · 27/06/2021 21:56

Personally, I have concluded that my sellers are very selfish and focused on their own interests, and I have to be, too

Perhaps bizarrely, I viewed a very different,non-dream home property yesterday and made an offer to buy it outright/cash

I'm now waiting to see if my sellers are actually willing to go through with this before the stamp duty holiday deadline. I'm not even sure that I want to deal with them and their stupid house anymore.

I realise that it's terrible to have multiple offers going at once, but I am actually feeling used by my sellers, like I'm a backstop they can drag along until 30 June. I entirely expect them to dump me at the end, as I have told them I'm not paying stamp duty.

Didicat · 27/06/2021 22:20

I’m dreading tomorrow morning, I hate the unknown and get stressed easily. A non chain house buy is supposed to be easy!

OP posts:
Kipperandarthur · 27/06/2021 23:35

I’m not actually in this ghastly position but remember it well from my last move that didn’t have all the difficulties attached of the stamp duty deadline.

Just wanted to wish you all good luck for this week in amongst a very stressful time. Hoping that it all works out for you.

Gettingonabitnow · 28/06/2021 06:00

Good luck this week ladies. It’s been a long slog, thank god for this thread or I think I’d be divorced! X

HintofVintagePink · 28/06/2021 06:31

I’m just up to start work and I’m really thinking of all of you on this thread and wishing you speedy communications and positive outcomes all round. X

Didicat · 28/06/2021 06:47

Good luck people!

Hopefully by 1 o clock the mess that my buy is will have been sorted out. Been awake for ages, just feeling really sad that today is not going to be my moving in day.

OP posts:
TheABC · 28/06/2021 08:22

Good luck, everyone. I am bracing myself - should be able to get the keys tomorrow morning.

One way or another....

coffeequeenindevon · 28/06/2021 08:47

Best of luck everyone!

Still minor stresses here (although pale into comparison compared to the last few weeks). Completion today and we moved into storage/with family on Saturday. The removal men didn’t bring the right tools for moving some of our garbed stuff though. Promised to come back yesterday and didn’t. Promised to be here an hour ago and still no sign 😬
