I received my completion statement and sent over all the money today! Looks like we will be deffo completing next week woohoo! Finally after 4 months on a no chain sale

Hi all, popping back onto this thread after taking a break away for a few days. @Lilothblos that's not good to hear, we're going for a mortgage with Clydesdale too. Our broker submitted the formal application a week ago and we haven't heard anything yet.

One good thing is that hearing nothing from our buyer, apparently she's booked the surveyor to come to our house next week. I immediately instructed a surveyor for the house we're buying but they're saying end of November/start of December timescale as they're so busy! I'm really disappointed that it's going to drag things out but haven't heard back from mortgage application yet so I suppose the whole thing is going to take weeks isn't it?

That's good to hear, and gives me hope. It's not a fast process is it!

@kerrymucklowe2020 Congratulations!

I haven't posted on here since page 1, and I'm slightly horrified to see that all that's happened in that time is that we've managed to instruct a selling solicitor... Still no sign of searches, let's hope they're back by the end of the next thread!

kerrymucklowe2020 · 23/10/2020 06:01

Guess who was awake until after 2 and awake at 5,?

checkedcloth · 23/10/2020 06:02

@Diangled I hope you get a response soon, I am so sorry to read about your husband.

So we are now 4 weeks from accepting an offer on our house and also having our offer accepted. Yet we still are not sure of the chain being completed up above. At what point does this become an issue?

Simonsaysitschristmas · 23/10/2020 07:01

Oh no @kerrymucklowe2020 what kept you up? I hope it was excitement of finally exchanging rather than stress of completion. When are you meant to be completing.

I’ve also been awake since 4.30 - trying really hard to not think about house stuff though.

StormyLovesOdd · 23/10/2020 09:07

OMG - we've heard nothing about our completion/moving date for weeks and weeks and weeks despite chasing weekly then yesterday we found out from the estate agents that our sellers HAVE to move Monday 2 November. If they don't move on this date the whole chain will calapse so we had no choice but to agree to the date.

Our solicitor knew nothing about it as the last he had heard from the sellers solicitor was that they were waiting on an enquiry. Ever since then their solicitor has been ignoring all contact so we actually thought the sale was going to fall through.

We have 10 days to get organised and pack everything Confused I'm excited and scared to death in equal measures

lachy · 23/10/2020 09:49

Woohoo! Mortgage offer is here.

One step closer...

Badgerbadger22 · 23/10/2020 10:26

Has anyone used Santander? Are they slow at the moment?

tigerbear · 23/10/2020 10:41

@Badgerbadger22 I’ve always found Santander to be quite speedy. My friend has just had a mortgage approved with them (after being declined by another provider) and they were quite quick.

Bells3032 · 23/10/2020 10:42

We used Santander. Had the initial approval within a couple of days with the survey booked about two weeks later and we got the final approval the day after the survey. But we were putting down a 45% deposit with zero debts to our names so i think they felt pretty safe

PointyMcguire · 23/10/2020 13:45

We’re also going with Santander, we’re expecting the valuation to take place in the next 2 weeks and then the formal offer a day or 2 later...at least that’s what our broker tells us.

Badgerbadger22 · 23/10/2020 15:29

Thanks everyone for the Santander info! Good to know.

We now won’t know until Monday whether it’s ours or not. So it’ll be a tense and disappointing weekend for us while we wait & wish it away!!

Not convinced our offer will be accepted as I think the others have offered more.

Contemplatinglife · 23/10/2020 17:08

Long time lurker here but felt I had to drop in today to let you all know there is hope! We first viewed house in March, the weekend before lockdown! Everything at a halt until end of July when we got home report and our offer accepted. After various delays and issues we collected the keys today! Hang in there troops

Simonsaysitschristmas · 23/10/2020 17:30

Congratulations @Contemplatinglife - I hope you have many wonderful years in your new home Wine

Iamtheonewithsocks · 23/10/2020 18:29

Congratulations to those completing and exchanging.

We've got one more "issue" to sort out from conveyancing, then hopefully we'll be ready to exchange.

But it feels like there's always "just one more small issue...."!

Pepperwand · 23/10/2020 18:34

We physically dropped off all the paperwork at our solicitors today as the post is excruciatingly slow at the moment around here, we're usually getting our post in a big pile once a week. She's also received the paperwork from our vendor's solicitors so progress at least. Still waiting for full approval for the mortgage and to hear more from our buyer but the survey at ours is booked for Tuesday.... I'm very nervous about it!

Diangled · 23/10/2020 19:30

Congrats to those making solid progress.

We agreed a price today & all good - until 5pm tonight when our agent called to say the first person in the chain has pulled out.
Our buyers & theirs are gutted apparently & madly trying to sell their houses. The bottom of the chains house sold in a week last time so 🤞🏻that’ll be the case again. Happy weekend everyone!
