Hope this is the final one for us!

Spoken to the vendor's EA and we are talking about exchanging next week and completing around the 5th October, may be later as they are having trouble as removal firms are so booked up.

We're not giving notice on rented place until October anyway and are getting a lot of new furniture also so I am hoping for a gradual and leisurely move. Best laid plans and all that...

Zebrahooves · 22/09/2020 12:45

Count me in on the madness too. Week 13 for us. I get all excited when the solicitor says they have an update, and then radio silence.

Congratulations to those with dates. Commiserations to those still waiting.

AmandaHugenkiss · 22/09/2020 12:56

@Notyetthere doesn’t help that my solicitor/her PA is suddenly not picking up the phone for the last two days. 😭

ChristmasTree999 · 22/09/2020 13:24

Hi still here, still reading everyone’s progress.
Still in limbo waiting for the final issue to be resolved so we can exchange. Things like searches/draft contracts/surveys/mortgage offers were sorted weeks ago!! Honestly thought we would have exchanged by now! So boring...

Fern204 · 22/09/2020 13:40

Our chain has just collapsed. Due to exchange Friday. FTB at bottom of chain had a late survey which has flagged structural issues, so understandably they have pulled out.
This is the second time this has happened since January, we need to move as DS is now at 6th form and its 2hrs on the bus each way. I am driving him in and out just now, but its not sustainable long term.
EA says we can remarket straight away but we will do well to move by Christmas now. Gutted.

ChristmasTree999 · 22/09/2020 13:42

Oh Fern - that is gutting 😫 and the second time as well.

littlecontis · 22/09/2020 13:43

@Fern204 So sorry to hear, how awful. Have a glass of wine tonight, you need it.

AmandaHugenkiss · 22/09/2020 13:53

Oh Fern I’m gutted for you. How horrible.

RAINSh0wers · 22/09/2020 14:01

Oh Fern, I’m so sorry. Flowers

Zebrahooves · 22/09/2020 14:06

So sorry to hear that @Fern204. When we were selling our sale fell through twice. It is truly horrible.

I hope something works out and that you can be in by Christmas.

IamtheOnewithSocks · 22/09/2020 14:53

I'm really sorry to hear that @Fern204.

JustFrustrated · 22/09/2020 15:02

Oh that's awful @fern024

AmandaHugenkiss · 22/09/2020 15:31

Why do solicitors tease you by saying “we could exchange today” and then not reply to you for two days? 😩

tigerbear · 22/09/2020 15:46

@Fern204 so sorry!

Just heard from my EA that the people who apparently loved my house when viewing the other day prob aren’t going to progress, then told me that they’ve received instruction to market one of my neighbour’s houses aswell, but couldn’t tell me who... which means there’ll then be 3 houses for sale in our tiny street of just 12 houses.... I think I know who it is - our direct neighbours, and their house is done nicer than ours - newer kitchen, bathroom and heating. Envy

sopopollo · 22/09/2020 16:31

The vendor's EA is doing my nut in. First of all, he comes across as a 14-year-old on email with his several question and exclamation marks. Secondly, he's always accusing us of delaying. I pointed out that we are still waiting for answers on our solicitor's enquiries, not exactly delaying, and then he goes quiet. They've also misplaced several bits of information that we've told them several times, then they jump to accuse us of not telling them stuff, only to then apologise that they've misplaced the info/not told anyone else at the office. Great fun.

Anyoneoutthere123 · 22/09/2020 17:13

@kerrymucklowe2020 when we brought the house we are moving from it took a year to complete and there was only us and the house!

Anyoneoutthere123 · 22/09/2020 17:25

@Fern204 really sorry to hear that

Lemonylemony · 22/09/2020 17:52

Fern oh no so sorry to hear that! Devastating

Was hoping to exchange today but the vendor still hasn’t submitted all his signed documents to his solicitor, and he’s not picking up the phone to the estate agent.

I’m not worried, I’m not worried, I’m not worried Confused

caffeinebuzz · 22/09/2020 18:31

Mortgage approval came through today and we posted the signed contracts back to our solicitor. After weeks of nothing happening I'm starting to feel optimistic again!

Oh wow, why so long???

checkedcloth · 22/09/2020 20:09

@Fern204 I’m really sorry, that’s just awful, especially second time too.

We were on the market last year, unfortunately we were outbid on our dream home. I was so excited to see that the house next door of our dream home has come on the market. We have a second viewing booked on our house this week - and so asked to view the house next door. Guess what - that’s just gone under offer too.

We are always just too late!

ramblingsonthego · 22/09/2020 20:17

So a week ago our offer was accepted. Today our mortgage application has been accepted and its on to the valuation stage. We dropped all our forms off to the solicitor this morning, so we are really trying to push this through. Our buyer has their survey on our property on Thursday.

We are trying to push hard as we have to be in before school application time in January.

Notyetthere · 22/09/2020 21:13

My day can't get any worse. Our buyers are getting very desperate and are now I think threatening to end the painful school commute by renting near by and delaying completion. Not ideal for us.

I wasn't going to pester our bank till Thursday but I will be begging them tomorrow morning.

Jujuball · 22/09/2020 21:42

Hello again all

So sorry to hear about your chain @Fern204 Sad I hope you find a new buyer quickly.

We have miraculously accepted an offer on our house today, I can't quite believe it!! Grin less than a fortnight after changing our agent. Really hoping we get through to the end now without too many hiccups. We have found a house we'd like to buy (and offered on it, waiting to hear back) but if it doesn't work out we're just going to move in with family or rent and let our buyers move in.

Going to be so weird seeing a file set up for us at work and filling in my own Property Info Form Grin we're first time sellers and went on the market originally just before lockdown so it all feels very surreal. I don't think I'll relax until we've exchanged!

Notyetthere · 22/09/2020 21:50

@Jujuball CONGRATULATIONS on the offer. Good luck with the house you are buying. Hope they accept your offer.
