Hope this is the final one for us!

We've exchanged. Completion is this Friday. No pressure!

AmandaHugenkiss · 21/09/2020 16:06

Still haven’t exchanged. Still waiting for buyers revised mortgage offer. Had message from our vendor asking me why we were meant to exchange on Friday but didn’t, and his solicitor has told him my buyer is having mortgage issues which has spooked him.

Just want this done now!!

😭😭😭

jelly79 · 21/09/2020 16:28

Congratulations to you lucky lot who have exchanged! How exciting having a move date!

My buildings survey went ahead yesterday so I am waiting for that now and we can exchange! Haha my solicitor chased me for an update today as she wants to fix a date!

tigerbear · 21/09/2020 16:53

Sorry to hear that @AmandaHugenkiss and @InescapableDeath 😔😔😔
Congrats @Shelley54

Was sure we were going to receive an offer on ours today, but have heard nothing. After the viewing on Saturday, the agent said the couple were def interested 🤔

littlecontis · 21/09/2020 19:56

I am so tired of "today is the day" and today was another disappointing day. Our solicitor fucked up one of the searches so they had to submit a form again. I've asked my husband to remove me from the email chain because every time I get a notification, I am always expecting "we have exchanged". So bloody tired of this.

InescapableDeath · 21/09/2020 20:31

I’m tempted to leaflet some local houses. Is that complete madness? Has anyone done it?

Lemonylemony · 21/09/2020 20:35

No further response from my solicitor by end of play today. So still don’t know anything. Grr. Will chase estate agent tomorrow if don’t get update early in the day. Am really pee’d off with it all.

My electrician can start the re-wire next week......if we’ve bought the house!

kerrymucklowe2020 · 21/09/2020 21:29

We're still held to ransom.....,...,

I'm pleased to see some progress for people exchanging and completing since I last checked in. We are still waiting for one outstanding issue to be sorted with our buyer and then we can finalise completion dates. Its been going back and forth between the whole chain and I'm finding it so stressful to agree a date. I cant believe how awkward some people are! Slightly relieved to see others are as frustrated as me with this whole process though.

kerrymucklowe2020 · 21/09/2020 22:55

I'm wondering if anyone knows what's the longest time a chain has ever taken to complete

OP posts:
Lemonylemony · 22/09/2020 05:47

I don’t want to know that - I expect it’s an immensely depressing figure!

AmandaHugenkiss · 22/09/2020 08:14

I don’t want to know either but I’ve seen stories of over a year to complete 😱

Notyetthere · 22/09/2020 08:29

There is this youtube mum Emily Norris. They had their offer accepted back before christmas 2019. They are still waiting. she mentioned that they are in a hideous chain and everything hat corona could throw at the chain did.

DareDevil223 · 22/09/2020 08:39

The Homebuyers Report on the house we're buying is happening today, the house is only 12 years old so hopefully no surprises.

All the searches are done, we've completed, money is in the bank, just waiting for a couple of enquiries back from seller's solicitors. Surely it can't be long before we exchange? I need to buy furniture or we'll be sitting on beanbags for our Christmas dinner...

Fingers crossed Smile

Bells3032 · 22/09/2020 08:43

Quick question for those that have exchanged. were you allowed to sign the contracts virtually? When i bought 4 years ago i had to go into the office but not sure how that works now

JustFrustrated · 22/09/2020 08:50

This is so tedious isn't it.

I feel like we'll all be on the next thread.

No update from anyone yesterday. Friday our solicitor said everyone was requesting funds, the EA said she'd chase updates.

Radio silence. Apart from our solicitor who agreed to ask to exchange the start of the week for completing Friday. That's never gonna happen now.

It's also harder cause I start work at 730 (through choice) so for me, 12 is late in the day but it's not. So I'm winding myself up.

Lemonylemony · 22/09/2020 08:56

We signed our contracts, friends witnessed and posted them. You can’t always go into solicitors offices anyway, they’re not always local.

IamtheOnewithSocks · 22/09/2020 09:08

How long did you all have to wait for survey?
3 week wait for us as surveyor had a backlog.
What is typical in normal times, and currently?

Bells3032 · 22/09/2020 09:22

@IamtheOnewithSocks took us around 10 days

Thanks @Lemonylemony

tigerbear · 22/09/2020 09:52

@Notyetthere 2019??? 😱I think I would just pull out of the whole process if I were her!

Lurchermom · 22/09/2020 10:14

Congratulations to those who have moved forward and have moving dates in sight and commiserations to those still in stasis!!
We have booked another surveyor after cancelling that one which arranged 20th October. This guy still needs to confirm with vendor but suggested first week of October which is much more in line with our searches coming back etc it is costing em about £80 extra though Confused but the guy seems really old school and seemed much more with it than the previous company so hopefully not a waste of money. Also tbh I'd pay £80 for a two week speed up!
Our buyers have said they are arranging a survey on our place so now got that to worry about. I'm sure it will be fine, we've only been here 7out of the last 300 hundred years and our survey was good so shouldn't be anything too scary on there. Just got to see when that gets booked in, I'll be annoyed if it's late October now haha!

Since 2019 - I would wonder how many of the original chain members will be there by the end?!

Reminds me of the scene in Only Fools and Horses where Trigger the roadsweeper wins an award for using his council broom for 20 years, then afterwards says "this old broom has had 17 new heads and 14 new handles in that time" Grin

I could have written this myself! I’m going mad with the whole thing.
moveandmove · 22/09/2020 11:53

I'm on week 12 now and just waiting for my buyer's local searches to come back then we can exchange and complete. The searches were requested mid August so surely can't be much longer can they?

Notyetthere · 22/09/2020 11:57

@AmandaHugenkiss count me in on the madness. I also start work at 7am through choice and the same for me at 12 noon it feels like I have been waiting an age.

@IamtheOnewithSocks our bank instructed the survey on 7th Aug when they received our application pack. The earliest they could get was 1st Sept. Never mind that date though, underwriting had not been completed till a week after the survey. Oh well. The wait for an offer continues.
