Which property would you go for?

We are interested in these 2 properties:

A) www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-71533635.html

B) www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-77560441.html

Which would you go for? Property B is in a slightly better location but there isn’t a lot in it. It’s for 2 adults, l want a dressing room and himself wants a man cave (to include his DJ stuff, photography stuff etc). I have a preference and my partners is the other!

B. Better area, bigger, not a terrace.

WhatKatyDidNxt · 06/07/2020 20:25

@Scootingthebreeze it is a complete tardis when you get inside. I usually hate bungalows / chalet style houses

Would def be B for me

frumpety · 06/07/2020 20:27

B , its ugly but there is more space and I hate the open plan living of A. A bit of paint and some new carpet would completely change B. You mention it is in a better area ?

Chewbecca · 06/07/2020 20:27

I know condition is worse but Cavendish Gdns is a slightly better location.

WhatKatyDidNxt · 06/07/2020 20:28

@russetred children appear unlikely. Tried naturally for 2 years and just found out our cycle of IVF bombed leaving no useable embryos

B. For me
Having lived in a terrace with no parking.... never again for me

WhatKatyDidNxt · 06/07/2020 20:29

@Chewbecca the road is too busy for us sadly

Oooo i love cavendish gardens

SwedishEdith · 06/07/2020 20:30

A is just one room really, downstairs. I'm not sure about the brick wall but could be changed. Nice fireplaces and a utility room.

B - I actually like the pink walls in the kitchen. Too much grey carpet and can't judge size properly because of lack of furniture. But, for your needs, it's a better fit, I think.

Letthemysterybe · 06/07/2020 20:30

I think that house A is a better house for a couple.

weepingwillow22 · 06/07/2020 20:31

The first house is much nicer and £25k cheaper. I would use that money to reinstate the wall between the kitchen and living area and build your DH a man cave in the garden. Alternatively you could convert the loft. It has so much more potential than B.

WhatKatyDidNxt · 06/07/2020 20:31

JUST TO CLARIFY the drive for b is tiny and the area is only ever so slightly better. I might be tempted to get rid of the garage, partner isn’t fussed by it

WhatKatyDidNxt · 06/07/2020 20:32

@weepingwillow22 the loft is already converted. Funnily enough lm tempted to put that wall back up as well

@whatkatydidnext I'm really sorry to hear that, that's hard. Hope you're doing ok. ☕️💐

Chosennone · 06/07/2020 20:34

Pretty much everything about A except for the open plan dining room/kitchen? Kitchen smells and noise drive me mad. But... it is a sociable layout. I live in a Terrace and you could do with finding out about your neighbours as you are attached to both. Mine are early 60s on both sides and very quiet.
B is very modern and a definite blank canvas. I think the garden might be bigger? The layout might be off putting but you have a lot of flexibility with just the 2 of you. Go and view them. It's the only way.

EwwSprouts · 06/07/2020 20:35

B the chalet. It's bigger and better area. Kerb appeal easily sorted with smart pots/hedge/window boxes to suit.
A with open plan to kitchen wouldn't suit me. Smell & noise of cooking/washing machine etc.

weepingwillow22 · 06/07/2020 20:36

B also sold for £218k in 2018. It has obviously been done up since but I do not think the renovations are worth an additional £150k.

fourquenelles · 06/07/2020 20:36

I'd go for the chalet - tons of space. I went to Westcliff High School for Girls when Adam was a lad and it looks like the nature of the terrace streets have certainly changed enormously for the better. It was a very run down and dilapidated area back then.

bitofasleuth · 06/07/2020 20:36

House-wise I much prefer A.

However, it has neither a garage nor off-street parking, so that puts me off to be honest.

AteAllTheAfterEights · 06/07/2020 20:38

House C that pp linked to... sorry to hear about your IVF

JayAlfredPrufrock · 06/07/2020 20:38

B is grim. And what does ‘chalet’ actually mean? Is it built from MDF?

Chosennone · 06/07/2020 20:40

Sorry to hear that WhatKatyDidNxt

That Cavendish Gardens one is amazing!? Gorgeous.
How busy is the road. Unless a dual carriageway. I'd be there 👍

BumbleNova · 06/07/2020 20:40

A any day of the week! B is just hideous.

brimfullofasha · 06/07/2020 20:41
