Hope it's ok to start a new thread.
Bottom of our chain should exchange on Monday and then the top will hopefully exchange a week later. I dont quite understand, something to do with a charge on our buyers house which needs to be released first.
Aiming to complete on 15th July, so hopefully not much longer.
I will never move again, and definitely not in a chain of 10!

DP just said “£10k could get us a really good garden makeover”. “Challenge accepted!” says I!

bellyislikejelly · 08/07/2020 15:42

Oh hang on - am i celebrating / crying / dancing too soon?

That link states "anyone who purchases a home from 08/07/20" - we have exchanged but not completed so im now confused as to if we will benefit?

I called our solicitor @ 13:30 who was waiting on government advice but it all seems to be out there now?

Oh shitting shit

Bells3032 · 08/07/2020 15:44

@bellyislikejelly It's from the day you complete, which is the day your stamp duty is due

bellyislikejelly · 08/07/2020 15:47

@Bells3032 I could kiss you Flowers

Bells3032 · 08/07/2020 15:51

haha

Katkincake · 08/07/2020 15:56

Such good news on stamp duty.

Seeing a rental and some purchase properties this weekend, now considering things up to £500k and just over when we’d dream a limit at £475k before. Fingers crossed we can find something and complete before next March

Katkincake · 08/07/2020 15:56

dream = set

FourForYouGlenCoco · 08/07/2020 16:23

Thrilled with the stamp duty announcement here too - has saved us £10k!
Our mortgage application was submitted to the bank yesterday (a bit earlier than expected as they changed the criteria from midnight so ours had to go off yesterday to be considered under the old criteria); once we have a mortgage offer in place I think I’ll feel much better and start to let myself believe a little bit that this might actually happen! Also seeing my mum for the first time in ages on Friday & taking her to have a sneaky look at the house I’m buying Grin I wouldn’t have asked, with corona etc, but it’s empty so I figured it’d be ok and the estate agents were totally fine about it. The house has taken on that weird dream quality where I’m not sure if I’m remembering or imagining certain things so I’m looking forward to seeing it again!

Karcheer · 08/07/2020 17:24

@FourForYouGlenCoco that'll be so exciting taking your mum :)

At night i lay there trying to remember walking round, im sure it'll be so different when we go back next week! eck!

LoisLittsLover · 08/07/2020 17:37

Just had a call from the estate agent - first viewing at 11am tomorrow. Cleaning like a loon!!

GherkinsOnToast · 08/07/2020 17:46

YAY for Rishi and right now I'm thankful for the delay in our sale - it saves us about 16K.

We've just received the TR1 in the post today so it's actually happening!

Ant007 · 08/07/2020 18:11

Just joining the thread. Put my house on the market about 4 weeks ago. Actually expected it to have sold by now, like other houses on the street. EA has been total rubbish and gave them notice on terminating the contract. Reviews were crap regretted it the moment I signed up with them. They’ve done sweet FA aside from sticking it on Rightmove and photos are not great. I’m even easy on the price and happy to accept offers! Offer accepted on another house so have about 3 months to complete this whole process. It’s so stressful. Am even fed up of cleaning like a crazy woman each time I get a viewer (only had 6 viewers so far) I just want it to be over so I can move on. It’s making me feel so miserable.
Sorry for the rant.
Good luck to everyone selling and/or buying. X

notheragain4 · 08/07/2020 18:16

How long did your mortgage offers take when the application was submitted and valuation done? Ours was really within a couple days, but our buyer's was over a week ago and still with the underwriter, nervous how long it takes.

Melrose86 · 08/07/2020 18:56

I have my first viewing tomorrow afternoon. I will be cleaning all morning and sending my husband out with our 1 year old so he doesn't make more mess!

LoisLittsLover · 08/07/2020 19:09

@melrose86 we seem to be on a similar timeline!! Good luck for tomorrow. Luckily our cleaner came today so it's only the big bits I need to hide in the morning like laundry baskets etc

bellyislikejelly · 08/07/2020 19:20

@notheragain4 Ours took 3 weeks from application to offer.

We were told 7 working days however due to the backlog with the banks + underwriters took alot longer.

Melrose86 · 08/07/2020 19:21

@LoisLittsLover we are! Fingers crossed for you.

notheragain4 · 08/07/2020 19:26

@bellyislikejelly thank you, hopefully a delay doesn't mean bad news then!

I feel so stressed today, it's such a horrible process from start to finish, there must be a simpler way Sad

Karcheer · 08/07/2020 20:57

@notheragain4 No i definitely wouldn't assume bad news, ours was held up too.

DareDevil223 · 08/07/2020 23:31

I had a second viewing today of a lovely house that will be just right for DP and I and am going to put in an offer tomorrow. I'm agonising over how much tonight. We're cash buyers so hopefully will be attractive buyers. Feeling excited but apprehensive.

Good luck @DareDevil223

Kelsoooo · 09/07/2020 08:41

Good luck daredevil!

Fern204 · 09/07/2020 10:33

We have a chain free buyer at 11 today, she offered at the start of lockdown and then we pulled out, so hopefully we can make it happen. Another viewing this afternoon and one on Monday. House is spotless, if you ignore the stack of cardboard boxes which we were about to start packing. At least it shows we are committed to moving!

I'm feeling a bit miserable. Trying to keep positive! Estate agent rang us last night just to discuss our property. He's not sure why it's not getting viewings. He doesn't think it's the price. We have reduced the price once. I think it may be the area but who knows.

Still have the viewing on sat, and I keep having to tell myself it only takes one person to love it.

Why is this process so hard!
