Hope it's ok to start a new thread.
Bottom of our chain should exchange on Monday and then the top will hopefully exchange a week later. I dont quite understand, something to do with a charge on our buyers house which needs to be released first.
Aiming to complete on 15th July, so hopefully not much longer.
I will never move again, and definitely not in a chain of 10!

wish he'd just get on with it

@Baldatbirth welcome to the thread and good luck to your sale and hopefully the viewing on Saturday is fruitful. We also listed our house just as another one on our road had just come back on the market after a sale had fallen through. This made me slightly nervous about listing ours but we decided to just go ahead and see. Every house will have its merits over the next one and people will have different requirements for their next home.

@Maybenexttime08 yes so am I. With baited breath!

@Fern204 oh no! Hopefully your buyers are able to wait if your house is the home they want.

@Melrose86 good luck with your listing today.

On our end, we made an offer on a house we liked yesterday. It is with purple bricks which the offer is also made online. Our first offer was declined. We have made another offer but it feels weird with no dialogue between the parties negotiating. So now it is a waiting game.

We have just completed the property information form for the sale of our house. My goodness that was a very long form. We still have to fill in the F&F form but that needs printing out first. We hopefully will complete it tonight and drop the forms off at our solicitor's office in town.

Notyetthere · 08/07/2020 12:59

Yay!

Maybenexttime08 · 08/07/2020 13:02

great news - but is it now a cliff edge over £500K??

notheragain4 · 08/07/2020 13:04

Wooooooowwwweeeeee! I just hope our developer let us keep it.....god our sale all feels so much more fractious now!

notheragain4 · 08/07/2020 13:05

@Maybenexttime08 no I think it's no stamp duty up to £500,000 so everyone should pay less even if buying over £500,000.

Maybenexttime08 · 08/07/2020 13:07

@notheragain4 - oh I hope so - we are just over the border!

tigerbear · 08/07/2020 13:14

@Maybenexttime08 And @notheragain4 me too. The place we’ve offered on is £550k. PLEEEASSSE! let it be so!!!

Kelsoooo · 08/07/2020 13:14

Yessssss!

Honestly, today could be shaping up to be fantastic.

To the point I just made a right twit of myself.

I'm a rep in supermarkets, so was stood reading the updated and literally squeeled with excitement.

Now just to get home and see if I've had the same lovely letter from the tax man that my colleagues have .

If so, that cosmetic treatment I was uhmong and ahhing over is happening.

Karcheer · 08/07/2020 13:15

Stamp duty is so complicated to work out anyway, I hope someone comes up with a calculator, we are buying over £500k but hoping it makes a little difference.

Estate agent is paying the £550 cleaning bill whoop!

TulipsfromAmsterdam · 08/07/2020 13:16

We are due to complete on Friday. Wonder how quickly stamp duty holiday will kick in?

Kelsoooo · 08/07/2020 13:17

It says immediately.....soooo hopefully you're covered.

Fern204 · 08/07/2020 13:17

Having seen our chain collapse last night, when we should have exchanged today, we now have 3 viewings lined up on our house. Fingers crossed a good offer comes in, with the reduction in stamp duty, it might all be OK.

So nice to hear lots of happy people after a horrid few months.

Can't wait to spend some of that money eating out next week too, oh that reminds me I'm going to book Miller and Carter reservations now!!

TulipsfromAmsterdam · 08/07/2020 13:18

@Kelsoooo

It says immediately.....soooo hopefully you're covered.
Hope so and it doesn't mean paying then waiting for refund
Didicat · 08/07/2020 13:24

Well I just have a massive headache, we took a verbal report on the structural surveyor, my husband wrote done 46 things....... It appears they have prettified the house but not sorted out the bones....

The stamp duty tax break is good news, as long as it’s not a cliff edge. Fingers crossed as I will need it to sort out the new roof if we go ahead.

tigerbear · 08/07/2020 13:31

Where is everyone reading the news about the stamp duty? What I’m reading on the BBC website doesn’t seem up to date..

bellyislikejelly · 08/07/2020 13:35

@tigerbear Dailymail is reporting but i know how this place feels about that Grin

Im speechless, utter shock.
I actually cried, this has just been such a shit process for us from the start + to now see it coming together along with todays news has just about tipped me over the edge.

notheragain4 · 08/07/2020 13:41

Watched his speech live on BBC2

LoisLittsLover · 08/07/2020 14:08

@karcheer have they said what will happen over 500k? Hopefully the duty is only on the amount over and not the whole total as it would. Make £15 000 difference to us

Bells3032 · 08/07/2020 14:10

@LoisLittsLover yes you'll only pay the stamp duty on the amount over it

notheragain4 · 08/07/2020 14:15

Imagine how chuffed people who completed today must be?! (I assume it is decided on completion?)

LoisLittsLover · 08/07/2020 14:15

Thank you @bells3033 thatvs great news. Now hopefully this prompts some interest in our house

Karcheer · 08/07/2020 14:30

Yah! £15k for us... DH already deciding how to spend it... he wants a new bike #rollseyes!
