Sellers/Buyers Roll Call 8 and still going

Hope it's ok to start a new thread.
Bottom of our chain should exchange on Monday and then the top will hopefully exchange a week later. I dont quite understand, something to do with a charge on our buyers house which needs to be released first.
Aiming to complete on 15th July, so hopefully not much longer.
I will never move again, and definitely not in a chain of 10!

According to the director of Flying Pigs we should exchange and complete on Tuesday - the empty property our sellers are moving into is owned by a lady in a care home and they have now decided they can't wait to 10 days complete after exchange! So date number 4 for exchange/complete is in the diary! They also don't want it too soon because if he brings in the Stamp Duty reduction effective Friday everyone stands to save themselves a considerable sum! I am doubtful it'll come in that soon but can keep hoping!

@melrose86 our photos were done Tuesday 2pm and back with us that night for approval. We asked for a couple of changes (different angles of rooms being shown, slightly different order) and the house was on their website the following afternoon. That was 2.5 weeks ago and we only got a sign today though. We are also in a hurry as a new build has fallen through which we love and in a race with another couple to sell ours so we can offer on it. The big announcement tomorrow could change everything though.

We've been on the market 2.5 weeks but still no viewings

Melrose86 · 07/07/2020 19:35

@LoisLittsLover that is quick for your photos. I am going to phone tomorrow as I've heard nothing from the actual estate agent since last Tuesday and that includes after viewing a house they are selling last Wednesday. Not impressed with them so far x

Karcheer · 07/07/2020 20:05

I’ve just had the quote to clean my house this incs cleaning the whole thing inc extractor vents, shampooing the carpet, cleaning inside windows, clean oven...

£555!

Maybenexttime08 · 07/07/2020 20:07

@Fern24 - Sorry to hear about your chain. Ours collapsed a few weeks ago but we found another buyer and are now waiting to see if our vendor will have us back.

Enjoy the wine - sounds like you need it!

LoisLittsLover · 07/07/2020 20:22

@karcheer that is extortionate. My cleaner cleans my whole house to immaculate standards every week and is nowhere near that. She did an extra hour before our pictures were taken and charged £40 to get it looking spot on for them including flowers etc.

GherkinsOnToast · 07/07/2020 20:24

Karcheer - I've just had a quote for a pre move in clean for our new house inc. carpets but not cooker and it is 2 ladies and costing us £300, they run professional cleaning company that does Military march out cleans.

notheragain4 · 07/07/2020 20:27

When we used to leave our military quarters (which have to be PERFECT) we paid about £300 for march out cleans, for a 3 bed. If you have a military base anywhere near you I recommend trying to seek out a march out cleaner.

Military families are too cheap to pay £550 Grin

Karcheer · 07/07/2020 20:36

@notheragain4 im too cheap to pay £555!

The estate agent at the other end said he's happy to pop into the house before he gives us the keys and wipe the kitchen work surface down with anti-bac...

from the sublime to the ridiculous!

notheragain4 · 07/07/2020 20:40

@Karcheer is this the estate agent trying to get commission on a bigger sale? If so let him/her crack on haha!

Karcheer · 07/07/2020 21:06
@Karcheer is this the estate agent trying to get commission on a bigger sale? If so let him/her crack on haha!
yes - I hope they have a comment form afterwards!

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 07/07/2020 21:08

I'm selling. Received an offer on Friday and just filled out the forms for the solicitor today.
Here we go! I feel like I'm just climbing onto a rollercoaster yikes

tigerbear · 07/07/2020 21:43

Oh no @Fern204 that’s awful news!
The whole system is totally shit!!
Hugs and wine and gin to you!!

Melrose86 · 07/07/2020 22:24

Ive just received my draft brochure. Going on the market tomorrow morning 😁. I can't help but spot little things in the photos though like creases on the bed covers and washing in the machine 😂

FourForYouGlenCoco · 08/07/2020 01:22

@Fern204 you poor thing, that’s awful for you, so so stressful! The system here is absolutely ridiculous, it’s such a shame.
@Melrose86 exciting stuff! FYI we had photos done late (6pm ish) Monday, draft brochure through Wednesday, on to market last thing weds & an offer on Saturday morning - hope it’s similarly quick for you! I think there is definitely a squeaky wheel element with this stuff - less so conveyancers but definitely for EAs you have to do a bit of bugging if they’re not moving quick enough! A fine line between annoying them and harassing them (complete with charm and tinkly laugh Grin) enough that you get your stuff done quicker! Grin

Melrose86 · 08/07/2020 07:00

@FourForYouGlenCoco I hope it is as quick! We are going to try putting in an offer on the house we love that's going to a closing date so we need to try and sell ours quick.

Lemonylemony · 08/07/2020 07:34

Commiserations @Fern204, fingers crossed your vendor can be patient.

So today’s the day we all find out if we will be saving thousands of pounds or not....! or whether they are so dumb they will cripple the market for months

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 08/07/2020 07:37

@Fern204 good luck! I hope your sellers wait for you

LoisLittsLover · 08/07/2020 08:58

Good luck for the big announcement today everyone. Desperately hoping they say it's with immediate effect

Kelsoooo · 08/07/2020 10:10

Fingers crossed it is with immediate effect! That would be perfect!

Baldatbirth · 08/07/2020 10:31

Just going to join here...

We put our house on at the end of may. On the same day a house down the road put there house back on the market at the sale had fallen through.

Yesterday they have sold and we haven't had a viewing in 2 weeks. But have one booked on sat. I hate the waiting game. Hoping today's announcement may help us sell!

Maybenexttime08 · 08/07/2020 11:20

Nervously waiting!

bellyislikejelly · 08/07/2020 12:21

Watching live on BBC..

Maybenexttime08 · 08/07/2020 12:37

@bellyislikejelly - ooh let us know what happens, I'm stuck in meetings!

littlecontis · 08/07/2020 12:40

Hurry up Rishi...
