Congratulations on exchanging @Kyriesmum1!!

MeMeMeYou · 26/09/2019 19:56

Congrats @Kyriesmum1 Flowers

Hawkmoth · 26/09/2019 22:47

Congratulations @kyriesmum1 and good luck with the shifting.

We are agonizingly close. I think I've got an ulcer (not LH).

dimmu · 27/09/2019 09:15

Thanks @Violetroselily and @Blobby10

Aargh so we had an offer accepted last week, and are at The very early stages of the whole process. There isn't much on the market at the moment and then suddenly this morning I got a rightmove alert for a much better property it is smaller than the one we are buying, but has its own drive, garage and huge garden that backs to a little river(!!!), whereas the one we are buying has only street parking and tiny garden. This new house also costs £40k less. OH thinks we should go and see this house as we haven't signed anything yet. I find this would be morally wrong as we said we would buy the other house, and having just sold our property it would be a very sh*y thing to do. But the house seems really good. Not sure what to do, if should just ignore it and turn off my rightmove alerts.

Blobby10 · 27/09/2019 09:32

@dimmu I would go and look at the new property. If you don't, you will never settle in the house you've had the offer accepted on as you will always wonder "what if". If you do and it really is much nicer then its far better to pull out now before either side have spent too much money!!

Still haven't exchanged on my sale yet - buyers buyer has raised an 11th Hour query over the shared driveway - seems like a storm in a teacup but my buyer is getting VERY stressed out about it all.

burritofan · 27/09/2019 09:32

@dimmu Go and see the perfect house. That RIVER (!) will haunt you the rest of your days in the other house if you don't. If it's perfect, do the morally iffy thing. If it turns out to have a body in the garden and that's why it's cheap, at least you'll know.

dimmu · 27/09/2019 10:09

@Blobby10 and @burritofan thank you for your responses. I have booked a viewing for Monday, it's the earliest they can do. We should be the first ones to see it. Was hoping to see it today or tomorrow but the EA is too busy. It is such a crappy thing to do and I feel guilty, but at the same time I can't stop thinking of that river. And the drive and everything else as Well... I am rubbish at parking and your own drive would be amazing.
Wish we hadn't rushed with the other property, but there was nothing else suitable on the market and our rental place is not working for us.

Jayne35 · 27/09/2019 11:03

Hi, I posted some time about to say that we were buying and letting our house out, unfortunately the mortgage offer for the BTL fell through. Put our house back on the market and managed to find a buyer, now we are just waiting for an exchange date. The chain I thought was 3 when we put our offer is actually now bigger and everyone is waiting for us. Feel a little harassed by Vendors EA. We are chasing our buyer, buyer is chasing his solicitor etc. After this I'm NEVER moving house again!

I have been reading this thread almost daily so well done to those who exchanged/completed already and fingers crossed that the rest of you have good news soon.

Since2016 · 27/09/2019 11:32

Congrats on exchanging!

I am still waiting... no contact from EA and apparently our buyers buyer is ready... I’m not sleeping - my already bad anxiety (PND) is even worse and I have a teething baby to contend with.

This is hideous.

I just want to agree a price for these works and be done with it.

Preggosaurus9 · 28/09/2019 18:42

@Kyriesmum1 congratulations! Hope all goes well!

Asdf12345 · 28/09/2019 18:48

We had an offer agreed on the 6th of September, now waiting on mortgage papers, survey and legal. Aiming to complete first of November.

Preggosaurus9 · 28/09/2019 18:53

We have been chasing estate agents after having viewings cancelled on us because an offer has been accepted Angry even though we have a sale agreed and a mortgage decision in writing, why they don't take us seriously I don't know. Anyway it seems to have paid off, we got a call back from one of them to view one which hasn't even had photos taken yet. The owner has gone into a care home. Needs work but not too much (we hope!) compared to others we've seen. Area is good so I'm really excited. Put offer in 30 mins after viewing! Hoping the odd layout puts other viewers off and we can nab it.

Kyriesmum1 · 28/09/2019 19:23

@Since2016 before exchange happened I was waking at 3am having nightmares that something went wrong! Now we have exchange I wake up at 3 am with the urge to throw everything away in fridge and to empty garage!!

Today I have finally finished taking stuff to the lock up, all we have left in our house is 3 toys boxes for the children, sofas, beds and washing machine plus essentials such as clothes and bottles lol

@Preggosaurus9 thank you for the congrats 🤞 you get the house xx

Dinosauraddict · 29/09/2019 03:18

@Preggosaurus9 eek I have my fingers crossed for you!
@Asdf12345 that's pretty quick/optimistic, what's the situation? I'm assuming no chain. Do you have a deadline that you have to meet/will there be an issue if you miss 1st Nov?
@dimmu I would agree with others and am pleased you're going to look; but whether you then 'switch' your offer or not, probably a good time to turn off your Rightmove notifications!

AlmaMartyr · 29/09/2019 07:57

Hi, does anyone mind if I join in here? We decided to sell recently; ours is going on the market this week (hopefully) but there's nothing on the market we're interested in at the moment. There was a house we liked, hence going on the market quickly but the vendors withdrew it from sale on Friday. It's probably a good thing - I did have some reservations but it's frustrating waiting for something else to come up!

Not sure if we should really be going on the market but we want to be in a good position if the right house does come along. We were first time buyers last time so a lot of this feels quite new to me!

Asdf12345 · 29/09/2019 10:18

We are in rented, the house we are buying is an empty probate sale.

gingerninja99 · 29/09/2019 11:16

Well we are now 4 weeks after accepting an offer on our house to FTB’s and we are moving in with my parents so should be pretty straight forward hopefully. I’ve done all our paperwork and solicitor has sent off draft contracts to buyers solicitor middle of last week. Made a start on packing things we will not need over winter but really starting to feel overwhelmed at how I’m going to condense a 3 bed house, garage and loft down to fit into the parents house. I have a list of a fair few bits of but furniture which will be sold/given away or dumped before completion but with 2 kids, 3 animals and a slight hoarder of a husband we have sooo much stuff! As much as i’d love a skip hubby says no.
No dates have been discussed yet which is not helping to focus my mind

Blobby10 · 29/09/2019 12:06

@gingerninja99 I hate to be the voice of doom but my current experience has shown there is no such thing as a smooth house move! My buyers buyer didn’t need to sell anything to move just a flat in London that would be completed end of August- Ha!! Load of tosh!! These people are not ones to rush anything and having completed on their flat on 20 September (3 weeks later than originally promised) decided to fanny around and raise a ridiculous query on my buyers house last Wednesday so we still haven’t exchanged 😡. However I did get a call from my solicitor at 5pm Friday to say we will exchange Monday and complete Friday 4th as planned 😁😁. I’m usually laid back about the legal process but even I have got wound up this week!!

Hope your sale DOES go smoothly but don’t get your hopes up 😁. I’m also going into store for four weeks but it’s only me and one of my (adult) children being affected but I have bee where you are and it’s SO hard knowing what to pack. My tips (from experience) is when you pack a box, list everything that is in it and tape the list to the box. Don’t just put ‘bedroom- clothes’ for example. If you do need to get stuff out of store it makes it easier to find what you need. Good luck!!

On a separate note to anyone whose out stuff in storage for a short period- do you put alcohol and foodstuffs in there or take it with you? Got a stash of wine and Bailey’s !! .

gingerninja99 · 29/09/2019 12:14

I flit between telling myself not to stress as it could take ages and panic of what if it goes through really easy and I’m not ready! This is only our 2nd move and the last was 11 years ago, that one was straight forward selling flat and buying house and was done in 12 weeks but we had no kids so no where near as much ‘stuff’ Hmm

gingerninja99 · 29/09/2019 12:15

Oh and i’d take the alcohol with you, you might need it!

Preggosaurus9 · 29/09/2019 14:36

@AlmaMartyr sounds similar to us. Fell in love with a house so went nuts getting ours decluttered etc to sell! Got a buyer but then got gazumped so looking desperately! Funny how I wasn't too bothered about moving til we started this process and suddenly I just want to be out. Maybe pregnancy hormones contributing there..! Is there much on the market where you are?

@Kyriesmum1 busy! Fx all goes to plan!

Blobby10 · 29/09/2019 14:37

gingerninja99 alcohol going to one of my temporary homes 😁😁x having moved five times with 3 children (first time the youngest was 4 months old!) i recommend getting started early with packing and sorting out 😁- always look at garage and loft first as this is where the rubbish usually gets stored 😁😁oh and don’t let the kids (or your OH!) label any boxes at all 😫😫😫

Preggosaurus9 · 29/09/2019 14:38

@Blobby10 defo take the alcohol!!

Kyriesmum1 · 29/09/2019 15:59

@Blobby10 our storage locker isn't allowed to have food or drink in it, no animals either.... I asked.... someone tried to put a parrot in there 😂

Blobby10 · 29/09/2019 18:13

@Kyriesmum1 a parrot? 😱😱 some people!!! I was mildly disappointed upon reading the land registry details for my new house to learn I wasn’t allowed to keep pigs or pigeons 😜😜
