Still here. Still haven't exchanged. I'm on a diet but I really, really want all the wine and gin 😫

dimmu · 09/07/2019 14:23

@BeauticianNotMagician81 sorry to hear you are still here. Maybe I should start a strict diet too, my wine consumption has gone through the roof over the last few weeks. Having a glass (or two) almost every night now. Not good.

Blobby10 · 09/07/2019 15:10

Against all the odds (compared to my usual house selling experiences!) I sold mine on Saturday afternoon to a friend for £10K under the asking price and agreed to take it off the market. All happy, I know he won't mess me around, they have a good buyer for theirs and I was comfortable that it will all go through smoothly and in a timescale to suit me,. Then yesterday I got an offer from the one viewing done through the agents of first £3k under then £5k over asking price!! How did this happen?!! I have stuck to my agreement with friend but am wryly smiling at the change in circumstances. Whenever I've had an early offer in the past I've always waited for a better one which never came and ended up losing about £20k on the original offer. This time I thought I was quids in Grin

just got to find somewhere to live now - saw one last night, viewing one tomorrow and three more Friday !

isseywithcats · 09/07/2019 16:44

6 days to getting the keys cant wait my spare room has now tipped over to looking like a hoarders room being as OH has started to tackle the shitehole that is his office OMG how can one man have so much stuff in a 9 by 8 foot room, his CDs his text books, all his bits and bobs for the computer, his blooming stereo its going to take us a week to put it in the car and take it round to the new house ( going in the garage till we have decorated ) i am praying he will do most of it while im at work monday to wednesday

isseywithcats · 09/07/2019 16:45

@blobby10 hope your sale and purchase goes smoothly

Blobby10 · 09/07/2019 16:49

@Issywithcats thank you! I'm just hoping that this will be one house move that I can do in one day rather than renting or living with parents and putting stuff into storage for a few weeks/months!

Don't envy you trying to get your OH to sort his stuff out! Are you tempted to 'lose' some of it during the move? Grin

isseywithcats · 09/07/2019 16:54

i dont know how to do link but this is the house we are buying on rightmove halifax under sold listings

Gleanings Avenue, Norton Tower, Halifax

2 bed semi-detached house for sale

isseywithcats · 09/07/2019 16:58

@blobby10 no chance he knows every blooming CD every bit of wiring, every book, every floppy disc, hes just retired from being a lecturer so years of his dammed work stuff to shift, he would spot something i had thrown in about ten seconds flat, because can garauntee what i chucked is the exact piece he would need two days later, but once we have moved and sorted out the rooms i will shut his door and ignore anything in there from now on

StayDetermined · 09/07/2019 20:04

Argh, looked at a house tonight, both really likes it - so much so DH has suggested we put an offer in.

How does it work when we've not sold ours?

PinkToaster · 09/07/2019 21:15

Hi all I'm new here hope you don't mind me joining and asking a question!
We're in the middle of a chain of 7 and I'm already very nervous that something will go wrong! Any advice welcome or is anyone in a long chain that can offer some support?

isseywithcats · 09/07/2019 21:38

@staydetermined i think you would have to make the offer on condition yours goes straight on the market as sellers like someone proceedable

StayDetermined · 09/07/2019 21:52

Thanks @isseywithcats Ours is on the market and we've had two viewings so far, have another booked for Saturday. No feedback yet. Every day currently we are working on decluttering, tidying and all those niggly little DIY tasks - even if we don't sell quickly the house is going to be much more pleasant :)

isseywithcats · 09/07/2019 22:08

cant see why you shouldnt be able to make an offer if yours is on the market then and hopefully you will get a quick sale, when we sold our guest house in blackpool offered on a house, then on exchange day lost our buyer so thought we would lose the house, fortunately got another buyer fairly fast and the house was still available so we got it turned into a bit of a nightmare at first left a shithole for us to move into but eventually it was a nice house

sandybayley · 10/07/2019 01:10

@StayDetermined - you can certainly make an offer but the vendors are unlikely to take it off the market, we certainly wouldn't.

@PinkToaster - a chain of 7 properties certainly sounds like there is the potential for lots to go wrong. We had 3 in ours and it was an absolute nightmare! A chain only moves as quickly as the slowest property so there is a greater chance of a troublesome property with a long chain. I also think your ability to get a grip with what is happening elsewhere in the chain is less the further you are away from it. Sorry to sound gloomy.

Got paperwork from Halifax today with mortgage offer!! 😁 things are moving forward, should complete around the same time we officially adopt baby into our family!!! 😍😁

isseywithcats · 10/07/2019 15:20

@Kyriesmum1well done and your adopting as well wow you really will have a different life and a nice one x

TulipsfromAmsterdam · 10/07/2019 15:27

@kyriesmum hope things go fast for you so you can be settled for baby arriving. I foster and have also adopted and add this to moving can be extremely stressful.

Kyriesmum1 · 10/07/2019 15:43

Thank you guys!! @TulipsfromAmsterdam we foster her at the moment but couldn't let her go so are adopting her!! 😁 we are also organising our wedding so the three most stressful things you can do all at once!!! Good job I like being busy, have cleared half the loft today and have filled up my buns that were emptied today 😖

TulipsfromAmsterdam · 10/07/2019 15:55

Ah that's lovely. We adopted our very first placement 7 years ago. It's hard to let them go. Good luck with everything

balalalala · 10/07/2019 16:51

We were hoping to exchange this week but our estate agent has gone on the missing list today ignoring all emails and phone calls. The whole thing is dragging now, a chain of 6 is a nightmare. Every day I worry someone will just change their mind!

Kyriesmum1 · 10/07/2019 17:20

@TulipsfromAmsterdam she is our 34th child!! So lovely that you've done it too!

Chain of six, wow ours is first time buyers buying our buyers house and we are moving into an empty house x

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 11/07/2019 10:39

@isseywithcats DH packed away his clothes yesterday. Problem is he packed them all so now has to open boxes as he has nothing to wear. Plus I asked him to sort his tools in the garage as they are just all separate. He's had orders to put them in plastic boxes. It's all done now. How exciting though to know it's not long now for the keys for you.

@Blobby10 wishing you good luck with your sale and I hope you find your dream home soon.

@PinkToaster sometimes length of chain doesn't make much difference. It's obviously just more people to rely on to get it right. We are a chain of 3, should be so simple but 13 weeks later and still no closer to exchange it seems.

@Kyriesmum1 Ah that's lovely. Congratulations on your mortgage offer and the adoption.

We will hopefully be able to exchange soon. How long is soon? I've kind of given up now. I'm not even excited about the new house as it's just taking so long.

Blobby10 · 11/07/2019 11:41

@BeauticianNotMagician81 thank you! just a word of warning when asking your DH to pack tools into plastic boxes - make sure the boxes are strong enough to hold the tools that may be crammed into them! I learned this the hard way during one of 7 house moves - when the removals men went to pick up the box, the bottom dropped out as then DH had carefully put all his hammers (or other very heavy tools which I can't remember!) into one box ! The box was coloured too which is why the removals man couldn't see what was in it Grin

And don't get me started on the explanation for why we had to transport 10 jam jars full of assorted screws between houses. I think one year I got it down to 5 and when we split up, made him take the whole bloody lot with him as well as his box of plugs
