Well here we go, another week waiting for news.... how long is the longest anyone here has waited for their mortgage offer?

EdinLS · 03/06/2018 21:23

We had an offer accepted about 2 and a half weeks ago - no chain - we are FTB and sellers are wanting to move back in with family to save some money for a while.
Our valuation is booked for Tuesday, solicitors all lined up. I'd hoped to be in by the end of June but worried that's maybe a little over ambitious!
We're away for 2 weeks in July and would love to have it sorted before then so we can just go away and relax.

Housemum · 03/06/2018 23:56

Hopping onto this thread in the hope that things will be moving for us soon! Offered on a property 9th May, had an offer on ours from a first time buyer (moving from rented, has given notice to landlord so can be out any time from now) on 15th. He has had valuation done on ours and has had mortgage offer. We have had survey done on place we are buying and had mortgage offer. Have sent back the law society forms to solicitor and draft contracts have apparently been issued to our souls and to our buyer’s. 2 houses above us in chain. Just atbthat early stage of what seems like nothing happening whilst we wait for searches etc to be done. I just want to be able to start packing properly! Have already boxed some stuff that we can live without for a few months.

SlothMama · 04/06/2018 11:33

We are still waiting, the seller is adamant that we were told July would be when they could move when they told us differently. But thinking positively it's allowing us an extra payday and more time to save up. Being FTB we don't have much! Luckily my parents are letting me take all of my bedroom furniture, and are buying us a fridge. So we just need everything else.

But we are getting a puppy the week after next as we thought we'd be in the house by then! So that'll be interesting moving with a puppy in tow haha, at least he'll keep us occupied during this long wait for the house to be ours!

Atthebottomofthesea · 05/06/2018 22:08

We still have no movement, I am beyond frustrated.

I spoke to the EA yesterday, explained that I was getting really worried that the chain was about to collapse. I proposed that our sellers consider moving elsewhere if necessary. He has contacted the house builder and was going to get back to them in regards to dates that mortgage offers run out.

I haven't heard anything back today so we will give them until tomorrow and then contact again.

To add insult to injury we have people meddling. Advice so far is 'tell them that if they aren't sorted by x date, then you will pull out' Why the $%£^&"*& do we want to do that? This is a property that we have invested heavily into both financially and emotionally. and that we should be chasing them, because obviously we haven't thought of that.

I just want it over and without our buyer pulling out due to the delays.

egdehsdrawkcab · 05/06/2018 23:20

I'm also BEYOND frustrated. Feel your pain! No update on our chain today except that our buyers lender has requested yet MORE evidence re their deposit and finances, this is 6 weeks post survey, will they ever get a mortgage offer or should we write them off and re-market???

BlooperReel · 06/06/2018 11:36

I will join, was supposed to exchange last week, buyers solicitor raised another query, it was answered same day but this is now day 3 with no response. All queries answered, all paperwork signed etc, we just want to bloody exchange.

Atthebottomofthesea · 06/06/2018 18:15

Solicitors are a nightmare at communication. We know more than ours does.

Spoke to the EA again today. We have till the 30th June to get sorted. A builder that may or may not have the letters T and W as their name are currently feeling a lot of wrath from our seller.

BlooperReel · 08/06/2018 11:35

Buyers solicitor today stated they are awaiting the signed contract, even though we were told this was sent to them last week.... I think they are stalling because Fridays are manically busy with completions

Atthebottomofthesea · 08/06/2018 11:59

I rang today with a proposed date. Hopefully firming things up properly will get thinks moving.

egdehsdrawkcab · 08/06/2018 13:05

We are apparently waiting on one last form to be signed - it's a share of freehold thing, and it's coming from abroad..... then we can finally exchange. Our vendor is threatening to re-market if not closed out in the next week...... so close but still feels so far!

BlooperReel · 08/06/2018 13:46

Well we just discovered the reason for the contract delay, is because they sent out incorrect details on the sodding contract, so have had to reissue!

theluggageslegs · 08/06/2018 15:08

Been waiting to exchange for a week. EA was confident it would be today but no. Buyer’s solicitor has ‘just one more’ form for them to sign. So now we’re exchanging on Monday, or so I’m meant to believe anyway.

I see I’m still in good company! I hope things start happening soon for all.

egdehsdrawkcab · 08/06/2018 22:16

One more form......... Angry

egdehsdrawkcab · 08/06/2018 22:17

I'm hoping for next Friday but it definitely won't happen!

Housemum · 09/06/2018 19:41

Hopefully looking good for us but we are in the limbo stage now - all searches in, enquiries being raised - let’s see how long this takes!

SlothMama · 10/06/2018 09:20

All of our searches are back and satisfactory! And the sellers have said they want to move end of July, their solicitor is claiming that a June/July date was never suggested but we have proof! However I’ll just let it go and push for an as early date as possible. I still don’t know the chain length but as the sellers are moving far away they might complete with their seller another day.

Tohaveandtohold · 10/06/2018 19:18

I’ve commented on a similar thread but can’t find my comment anymore. Anyway, this is my timeline as we’re now waiting to exchange
FTB
Offer accepted-March 20
Solicitor instructed the next day.
Mortgage company’s survey-April 11
Formal mortgage offer around first week of May and all the searches were back as well.
Ourselves and our solicitors raised enquiries with the seller around the 11th of May and they’ve just satisfactorily responded to all the enquiries last Monday and we were told the solicitors are preparing our final draft. Called on Saturday and they said the draft is now completed and we should be getting it this week.
Any ideas on what we should be looking out for when we get the draft? It is safe to assume that we’ll be exchanging in the coming week?

Atthebottomofthesea · 10/06/2018 19:38

What is the chain like above you? We have a chain of 3 and yet still not moved as the new build isn't ready at the top.

We even had a proposed date, I guess no one checked enough.

egdehsdrawkcab · 10/06/2018 20:18

We signed paperwork weeks ago and still waiting. If it's a v simple chain you could be good to go, but our process has made me very skeptical!

egdehsdrawkcab · 10/06/2018 20:19

Our chain is only 3 too, and we are the top, bottom is FTB, seems our buyer in the middle has been stalling things.

Atthebottomofthesea · 10/06/2018 20:31

We're middle - FTB, Us, New build.

At one point I thought it was us who were holding everything up, little did I know at the time.

egdehsdrawkcab · 10/06/2018 20:33

It all goes beyond frustrating.........Angry

Tohaveandtohold · 10/06/2018 20:44

There’s no chain. The seller is moving to Scotland so going there to rent first.

egdehsdrawkcab · 10/06/2018 21:02

Then yes, I'd say you could be exchanging in the coming week....... mmmaybe..... or not. But I hope you do, we need another good news story on here!
